Sending a 20 page letter to California from Koh Phangan
wanderingengine replied to Drew3223's topic in General Topics
Do you need to send the original paper or does the recipient simply need to receive it in the mail? If the latter, you can use docsmit.com to send USPS mail via internet. -
I think that the question intends to reference "official" tests performed by a third party because you need to, for instance, fly somewhere.

If I were you, I would rethink this idea unless there was some unfixable reason that I couldn't do sandbox. With AQ, you are restricted to a room and cannot leave. If you test positive, you restart with a hospital/hospitel quarantine at your expense. With sandbox, you can go out for the day once your first negative test has come back. (The risk of a positive test and quarantine is still there.) With regard to the pre-departure test: regardless of what you do, you need travel insurance. Your travel insurance should cover you if you miss a flight because of a positive test (check with them first, though).

Actually, the airlines do know the covid rules (and entry rules generally) of every country. There is a database called TIMATIC that has all of the information. Airlines access this to decide whether to let you board, as they get fined if immigration refuses to let you enter the country. Airlines sometimes set rules that are more restrictive than those in TIMATIC if they are concerned about the risk.of getting fined. You can access the database here: https://airfrance.traveldoc.aero/ I don't know if its 100% up to date vs the professional one. At any rate, its better for you to be positive on the pre-boarding test than on the arrival test. If you are at home, you can isolate there for the required number of days. Once you enter Thailand, you must pay for your isolation at a location not of your choosing.

Phuket Vaccination Sign-up Site Now Open For All Foreigners
wanderingengine replied to Pattaya Spotter's topic in Phuket
Patong hospital is now giving out up to 50 pfizer boosters on Wednesday and 50 astrazenica boosters on Tuesday. Their poster says that first doses are available Monday through Friday. Today, at least 200 people showed up. Various enterprising folks (not wearing hospital uniforms), both Thai and farang, appointed themselves as the organizers of this crowd and created competing queues. Eventually, the police came to the scene. -
I got my first two shots (mRNA) back in the states but they're getting a bit old. With Omicron coming, I'd like to get a booster. Where can this be done in/near Phuket? Make an appointment online or just show up? Bangkok seems to be thick with mRNA vaccines, but I haven't heard much about availability in Phuket. I'd like to stay on mRNA but will take what I can get if required.

Just take a picture of the card and save it on your phone. The US vaccination card may be "basic", but it is used by over 300 million people and therefore likely to be accepted everywhere that wants customers. It is superior to the various online approaches because it does not require an internet connection.

Its a political decision, so one can only speculate. On one hand, it makes sense to stop covid-specific accommodations when the country is reopening for air travel without quarantine and some of its neighbors are doing the same. On the other hand, evicting the existing long-term tourists before the promised hordes of short-term tourists arrive would cause a huge shock to that portion of the tourism industry that currently has customers.

Online TM30 entry error
wanderingengine replied to WhatsNext's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Everyone is having this problem. They guy who we are short-term renting a place from spent 3 days trying to get the website, android app, and iphone app to work. Unless someone knows some magical secret, there is nothing you can do to make these work right now. For renewal, Phuket immigration required that the owner either gives the tourist the documents to register the TM30 or comes to register it themselves. -
Covid recovered certificate for Phuket entry
wanderingengine replied to Jm1g's topic in Health and Medicine
Yes, the OP is asking about domestic entry. Anyway, the rest of the details are here: https://www.gophuget.com/inout You can use google's image translator and your sense of imagination to read them. You are allowed to bring your own antigen test kit and test at the border, but I wouldn't do this if taking the bus as you'll have the whole bus waiting for you. -
Covid recovered certificate for Phuket entry
wanderingengine replied to Jm1g's topic in Health and Medicine
Your hospital release documents should be your proof of recovery. Of course, the guy standing at the border at 4 am looking at bus passengers' passports may or may not want to read it. -
My girlfriend and I are looking to rent a scooter or motorcycle in Phuket. There are a ton of places around, but I don't want to waste time and energy dealing with various schemes and scams. I have a proper motorcycle license in the US, plus an international license. I'm not willing to leave the original of my passport, as I don't want to have dodgy things done with it. I can leave a cash deposit if the place is honest, though.

Maybe part of it is lack of cultural attachment. Everyone has a rank and position within their country or culture. Who your parents are, the way that you dress, the cultural references that you understand, etc. all tell people where you rank in your society. Often, this rank does not change even if a person's economic position changes (they earn more money). The only way to interact without the baggage of social ranking is by interacting with someone from outside of your culture who doesn't understand the social and cultural ranking signals that are present.

My girlfriend and I just finished SHA quarantine in Bangkok. We did SHA instead of the Sandbox because she is not vaccinated (limited supply in her home country). I see lots of posts about foreigners getting vaccinated while here in Thailand. We would like to get to an island with a decent beach, and she would like to get vaccinated as well. The complication is that some places want you to have been living there for three months before being considered for a jab (https://aseannow.com/topic/1229883-walk-in-vaccinations-for-thais-only-foreigners-can-now-register-for-pfizer/ - see the post by "sbf"). Other posts seem to reference "foreign residents". Does anyone know which places are more open with vaccinations for foreigners?
