  1. Update:- The light can be wired direct to the mains, bypassing all the old Fluorescent fittings. And no, polarity doesn't matter
  2. Thats what I was hoping for. As said in my original post I had already got rid ballast and starter, so have no choice but wire it direct to the mains. Just a thought, does he say anything about the polarity of the wires, does it matter ? Thanks
  3. I bought a replacement LED ceiling light. I already removed all the fluorescent fittings ballast and starter and was hoping this LED would be a easy fix with mains wires straight into the new fitting. Unfortunately the new LED light has a 4 pin adapter, like for a fluorescent so not sure if it will work by just two wire connection to the mains. I Found a YouTube clip which shows how to connect my LED but it's in Thai and not very clear. In the video clip the guy seems to say that the LED will work with the ballast and then looks like he disconnects the ballast and connects the LED directly into the LED. Seems to indicate that the Light will work with or without the old fluorescent fittings. What I need to know is can I connect the light straight to the mains or does it need to be wired through the old fluorescent ballast and starter. The wife got confused with all the "technical" speak so wasn't much help with translation what the guy said in the video clip, so am hoping kind soul could listen to the clip and let me know if I can connect straight to the mains without things going bang! Thank you
  4. Looks interesting Thanks
  5. Thanks for the quick response. I don't have a touch screen so looks like I need to get additional drawing tablet with pen I'm guessing that whatever is drawn on the tablet can/will come up on the computer 24in monitor . Will follow up on your info so far, any more suggestions and ideas still welcome
  6. One of my kids is a bit artistic and uses Windows paint to create some quite good pictures and designs. Unfortunately we only have a mouse and keyboard so is limited to what she can create. I'm thinking that adding a touch pen to use as a drawing tool would open up more possibilities and make it all more interesting for her. Is it possible, and what would I need to add a drawing pen to my existing computer? Thanks
  7. Update:- Got a working copy of the blue key from the key stall in my local Tesco. Took a couple of hours and cost 2500Baht. Not cheap but now have a spare key. Advice, Do not ever take your brown key out of the house.
  8. Interesting, but not really practical. Not very cheap and we only have the one key now so sending it away would leave us without motorbike for long time. Will try some local locksmiths, there must be some shady guys around that have the gizmos for stealing these bikes. Anyway thanks for the info, will keep trying.
  9. That sounds promising. There's a key stall in our local Tesco so will give that a try. Thank you
  10. So we have lost the brown key for the Vespa Piaggio, only have the blue key now so no spare. Local Vespa dealer says can't clone Blue key need Brown key, only option is replace all the anti theft electrics on the bike at a cost of about 10K Baht There must be a way of making an extra spare key from only the Blue key. A quick look on the Intrnet does seem to suggest that it's possible but can't find any in the Saraburi area. Any information on local key cloners most welcome Thanks
  11. Thanks all for your feedback. I have been getting lots of good info from Google and every little helps. Seems village or bottle water doesn't really matter, guess its' all just water. Anyway hoping for better luck with my fish in the future
  12. A few weeks ago the kids came back from the local fair with a couple of fish in a plastic bag. Seems they won them at one of the stalls throwing hoops or something. Anyway the upshot was we got a small tank and then all the bits to go with it that make up an aquarium. We got the usual plastic plant and stones for the floor and a small water filter system and an air bubble machine and the fish seemed to be quite content. Getting a bit over confident with our fish keeping ability we got some extra fish from the local pet store to keep our original fish from the fair company. Unfortunately over the weeks some of the original fish and all the ones from the store have all died 😞 Have done some Googling and followed the advice and was wondering about the conditioners you can get to add to the water. Are these products any good and do they work? Also does it matter what water is used in the tank? At the present we use bottle drinking water as it doesn't have chlorine or whatever as the village water would have, Any information from successful aquarium owners welcome. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/seachem-prime-prime-complete-and-concentrated-conditioner-for-both-fresh-and-saltwater-i2864221775-s17483936881.html?

  15. Been missing from my local Lotos's for some weeks now Does Makro still have them?
  16. I like the salty taste, anyway good for you in hot climate. AND I'm too old now to worry about what it might do to my arteries
  17. Cheese and Marmite or better still Cheese and Ham and Marmite Yum! Yum!
  18. Got a jig saw and reciprocating saw to cover that. There is also the good old hand saw, remember those.
  19. I'm too old now to do many of the jobs I managed in the past. Now if anything major comes up I will get a local guy to come in and do it. Of course it's never as good as doing it yourself but that's life. In my comprehensive tool collection I still have Jig saw, reciprocating saw and of course a couple power drills, one cordless. I could possibly manage most jobs with these tools, but obviously some jobs would be easier with either a grinder or circular saw. But which ?
  20. Thanks for all your help and suggestions. I'm leaning toward a cordless angle grinder as it does seem to do most things, except cut straight lines and proper angles but that's down to me. It's not really a question of affordability of buying two machines, it's a question of how much use they will get. Now that the main work round the property is done chances are that each or both machines will sit on the shelf for months in between use. Better having just one machine sitting round idle.
  21. After many years of building, fixing and maintenance, both my circular saw and angle grinder gave up within a short time of each other. Most of the heavy work round the house has been done so would, hopefully only have small jobs to do in the future. I don't want to necessarily buy two new machines so was thinking that I could manage with just one. With different blades available for both machines, wood, metal and stone the only difference I can see is with the circular saw having guides for cutting straighter lines. A grinder has the tendency wander about a bit. At least it does when I use it. So which would be better the more versatile and useful machine ?
  22. One of the Torrent sites I use daily is having money problems. They have put out an appeal to their members for help in keeping the site going. I have been a member from almost day one and would be very sad to see this site go under. I don't have a credit card or any crypto currency so they suggest using this site https://wickedpix.co/ to buy some pictures and somehow use them for payment I don't understand how that works and besides seems like I somehow still need to make payment to the site using Thai Baht. How does all that work ?
  23. Go to your local 7/11 or Lotus's, you can pay at both. No need for long trip to PEA Office. 👍
