  1. Been missing from my local Lotos's for some weeks now Does Makro still have them?
  2. I like the salty taste, anyway good for you in hot climate. AND I'm too old now to worry about what it might do to my arteries
  3. Cheese and Marmite or better still Cheese and Ham and Marmite Yum! Yum!
  4. Got a jig saw and reciprocating saw to cover that. There is also the good old hand saw, remember those.
  5. I'm too old now to do many of the jobs I managed in the past. Now if anything major comes up I will get a local guy to come in and do it. Of course it's never as good as doing it yourself but that's life. In my comprehensive tool collection I still have Jig saw, reciprocating saw and of course a couple power drills, one cordless. I could possibly manage most jobs with these tools, but obviously some jobs would be easier with either a grinder or circular saw. But which ?
  6. Thanks for all your help and suggestions. I'm leaning toward a cordless angle grinder as it does seem to do most things, except cut straight lines and proper angles but that's down to me. It's not really a question of affordability of buying two machines, it's a question of how much use they will get. Now that the main work round the property is done chances are that each or both machines will sit on the shelf for months in between use. Better having just one machine sitting round idle.
  7. After many years of building, fixing and maintenance, both my circular saw and angle grinder gave up within a short time of each other. Most of the heavy work round the house has been done so would, hopefully only have small jobs to do in the future. I don't want to necessarily buy two new machines so was thinking that I could manage with just one. With different blades available for both machines, wood, metal and stone the only difference I can see is with the circular saw having guides for cutting straighter lines. A grinder has the tendency wander about a bit. At least it does when I use it. So which would be better the more versatile and useful machine ?
  8. One of the Torrent sites I use daily is having money problems. They have put out an appeal to their members for help in keeping the site going. I have been a member from almost day one and would be very sad to see this site go under. I don't have a credit card or any crypto currency so they suggest using this site https://wickedpix.co/ to buy some pictures and somehow use them for payment I don't understand how that works and besides seems like I somehow still need to make payment to the site using Thai Baht. How does all that work ?
  9. Go to your local 7/11 or Lotus's, you can pay at both. No need for long trip to PEA Office. 👍
  10. Not a new idea Market in Algeria 1973:-
  11. Saw what looks like the same thing on Lazada :- Solar Cooling fan. seemed a bit small thought I'd look for something a little bigger. At the moment the coolest place she has found is round the back of the house in the shade where its always damp, and cool, with the shower run off and by the underground septic tank Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions. Some things to keep in mind about canine behavior. Especially about if she would actually like a fan. I do have my doubts about the usefulness of a fan with a dog. If the ambient temperature is high doubt if blowing a fan over a dog will be much relief. Just thought I'd explore the possibilities and practicalities of such a project. Will have to give it some more thought.
  12. I did see that the fan is 6w and the solar panel is only 5w, but was hoping it would just about work The other point is I don't want the fan to work at night, only in the day when the sun is shining so won't be needing a battery.
  13. With the hot weather coming thought I'd try and install a small fan in the dog's house. The house or kennel, if you like has a pitched roof so there would be sufficient headroom to suspend a small fan from it. The easiest solution that doesn't need timer or temperature control and running wires, seems to be a solar fan set up. The idea is that there is no battery so the fan only works when the sun is shining and its hot. I was thinking about something like this:- 50cm Fan powered by with this Solar Panel Any thoughts about if this would work ??
  14. See what you mean about price, but Phillips is a good name. Saw the tri-color ones but didn't want the hassle of flipping the switch several times each time I went in the room. Now I've found the electronic thingies I can use up the warm-white I have before needing the LED. But good to know.
  15. Warm-white is my preference in the bedroom, that's why I wanted the electronic thingies. Still got some warm-white tubes so I can use them if necessary. Can't seem to find warm-white LED's in my searches, OK prove me wrong on that one as well
  16. Would Adam and Eve it ? Been searching the Internet on and off for several days and all I ever got was blank or out of stock results Of course I tried Lazada but how comes it worked for you but not for me? You must have magic search fingers Anyways thanks for the link I snapped up the last two before they went, so Sheryl if you need one let me know and will gladly send you one. I still would like to keep one spare for myself.
  17. Hi Sheryl, I am have a couple of round lights still running on fluorescents, all others I've changed to LED but they don't seem to last as long Any ways on the couple of fluorescents I have done away with all the old ballast stuff and use these electronic units that are supposed to be more economical and better still give instant on, so no more waiting for the flicker of the light actually come on. I like to be prepared, old boy scout, and recently searched for a couple of these electronic units for spares but can't seem to find any anywhere. I got my originals from HomePro but they seem to have stopped stocking them, it's all LED now If these electronic units are no longer available this information may not be much use to you but thought I'd post it anyway. Somebody may find it interesting. If you, or any one do find a supplier do let me know.
  18. Yes I'm having trouble too. Non of the click links work
  19. Hopefully all the points for cleaning out a water tank have been covered now, several times. A sort of "Dummies guide to water tank cleaning"
  20. Didn't know the basic simple task of syphoning could be so complicated Love the artwork. Just to clear up a point, you have to move the suction end in the tank around the bottom to get the gunk, leaving it in just one place will only suck a hole in the gunk, it has to be moved around. Another way of filling the syphon hose is to shove the whole hose into the tank so it gets full of water. Block the end, so the water doesn't run back into the tank as you quickly whip the hose out and lay it on the floor. If it's done right the syphoning should start. It's how I empty the kids paddling pool, using a 1/2 hose with my thumb over the end. Works every time.
  21. Yes You can use pressure from the village water to fill the pipe. Doesn't matter what you use just need to get the pipe filled with water. Get the syphoning hose set up. One end inside the tank near the bottom and the longer section outside lower as much as possible than the intake of the inside hose. Connect the village water supply to the end of the outside hose and let it run till you can feel/see the water coming out of the hose inside the tank. The whole hose is now full of water and by removing the village water hose the syphoning should start to empty the tank. To suck up the sediment collected at the bottom of the tank you will need to use a stiff pipe to move around the bottom of the tank, a flexible hose would not work. I use a length of that blue plastic pipe. If your tank is on the ground and you don't have much drop for the syphoning to work, make sure the outside hose quite long and laying on the ground, you need more weight of water in the outside hose than in the inside hose for it to work. Sticking the end of the outside hose down a drain would help to get stronger flow of water. I use a 3/4 pipe, because that's what I happen to have, but any size will work, though bigger is better. Good luck If you only have flexible hosepipe you could attach the section that goes into the tank to a long stick and poke around with that, that would work.
  22. I have a total of 5 drives connected to my computer. All the drives are HHD except for my main system drive which is SSD. The SSD obviously is in use constantly but the remaining HHD's are only used occasionally for reference, storage or backup and whatever. The point is these HHD's need not be spinning all the time, only need to power up when called for. I have set up a power plan so the HDD's power down after 10minuites of inactivity and only power up again when I click on them. OK so when I click on one of the idle HDD's it can takes a few moments to wake up, but I think its worth the wear saved by not running idle all day and night just waiting to be called on. Just thought I'd pass it on
  23. Now for something a bit different. "Torrentday" has been dropping some really old movies recently. They have all been remastered so don't have that old flickering look, easy to watch. Some are silent movies with accompanying mood music, some are talkies but I don't think they had subtitles in those days. Anyway in those old movies dialogue is easy to hear, unlike modern mumblings drowned out by music score. It's amazing what they could do with movies in those early years, without all the techniques and tricks they use these days. Especially impressed with the "The Covered Wagon (1923)" where hundreds of extras and wagons stretch far into the distance. Also the river crossing, those guys earned their pay. Some of the more recent ones:- Red River Range (1938) - With John Wayne Very organized cattle rustlers are operating with portable slaughterhouses and refrigerator vans. The governor asks the Three Mesquiteers to go undercover to investigate. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0030663/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_4_nm_0_q_Red%20River%20Range%20(1938) ------------------------------- The Great White Silence (1924) In 1910 the British Antarctic Expedition, led by Capt. Robert F. Scott, embarks from Lyttleton, NZ on a quest to become the first to reach the South Pole. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1764657/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3_tt_2_nm_6_q_The%20Great%20White%20Silence%20(1924) ------------------------------- Wyoming Outlaw (1939) - With John Wayne Will Parker has been destroyed by a local politician and now must steal to feed his family. He steals a steer from the Three Mesquiteers. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032146/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_1_nm_0_q_Wyoming%20Outlaw%20(1939) -------------------------------- The Covered Wagon (1923) Two wagon caravans converge at what is now Kansas City, and combine for the westward push to Oregon. On their quest the pilgrims will experience desert heat, mountain snow, hunger, and Indian attacks. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0013951/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_7_nm_1_q_covered%20 ------------------------------------ The Iron Horse (1924) After witnessing the murder of his father by a renegade as a boy, the grown-up Brandon helps to realize his father's dream of a transcontinental railway. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0015016/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_6_nm_2_q_he%20Iron%20Horse%20(1924)
  24. I was going to make some joke about auditioning bar girls for the job but decided it wasn't really my thing Anyway that's the object of using a pump to fill the pipe with water.
