Surely it has something to do with the lack of direct international flights to Bali, but that place has been overdeveloped and overrated for decades now. Why did you even bother going? You see, quite clearly now, that traveling to Thailand is an utter waste of money. The place is finished.

It's Game Over for international tourism in Thailand for at least half a decade. They can thank their Chinese friends.

Thailand will have little choice but to revert to being an agrarian society. When tourism does finally take off (I'm guessing 2025) it will be an explosion similar to when American GIs went there on R&R in the 60s and 70s. Going to have to wait nearly half a decade, but it will come, and it will happen just like that.

Unless you have a very pressing need to be in Thailand, think 2024 for tourism. Forget 2022, and if we're lucky, they'll be working out the bugs in 2023.

Do not go to Thailand unless you must. No need to visit this dry caliphate devoid of tourist infrastructure. Go elsewhere, or be prepared to have your year ruined.
