  1. i did smell it from my balcony (sathorn - suanplu area). It did feel pretty weird as the smell arose really fast, very suddenly. Looked around thinking someone was burning something near-by, but no. Wonder where it came from.
  2. Same thing worldwide since adult content was published on internet decades ago. The trouble in Thailand is the lack of responsibility and sexual education of many (in terms of pregnancy and STDs, "very" widespread...). At least when i was in high school in the 90s (French expat school in Madrid, Spain) we had condom machines and "morning after Pill" at the nursery if needed.
  3. The photo of the Yoga studio featured in this article seems to be coming right out from a novel of the Marquis de Sade and his "special chambers"
  4. Except for a few (like construction workers or have to sweat it out hard to make a living), It is appalling how fat the Thais have gotten in the past decade.
  5. As mentioned in a previous comment. just keep it short time, no sleeping in.
  6. Sure there is. But they don't specifically go abroad to indulge in their sick behaviour like so many foreign teachers.
  7. Too many of these sick bas****s occupying the "English teacher" position in this country and surroundings.
  8. So that guy wants to play Medieval/Hundred years war style with a cross bow alright....Well, let's give him that then...Multiple execution choices in those days : Beheading / Hung, strung and quartered / impalement / Burning / crushing / boiled to death... etc...
  9. Hummm...alright...in the meantime Paris welcomed more then 30M overseas tourists in the same year. Go figure...
  10. ok, but the title is silly. It has nothing to do with new night time hours, which began on december 15th. The 26.4 M tourists number wasn't made between the 15th and 20th....Just get the facts right here, writer...
  11. The video is quite hilarious. Amazing how easy the Thai officers behave with the guy. He does deserve a hefty fine and some jail time though, just for the fact of driving drunk. Fun stops once you run over a kid on a bicycle or other.
  12. Quote " stricter control over the sale of alcoholic beverages to individuals under 18 and urged citizens to plan their drinking responsibly ". This amounts to asking a fish to climb a tree. And on the other hand they decide to open bars etc...until 6am for the new year's eve (which i have nothing against in itself) which "slightly" increases the drinking window for many giving them enough time and solid ethanol blood levels to pass out at the wheel....Well, it seems that the guys at the head of this country, who are supposed to drive it diligently and responsibly for the sake of its citizens, have already passed out at the wheel of power a long time ago. ah but yeah...I forgot...they can afford good sober drivers in comfortable mega vans...
  13. This amount is really small for a prime minister over a whole career . As mentioned in previous comments, He certainly has much more (offshore accounts among other things..)
  14. i honestly do not care if they extend the venues closure time to 4am or not. But i don't think that these two extra hours of opening time will change anything at all in terms of tourism. In many countries (Europe at least), venues can close way past that time and stay open until the crack of dawn.. they just need to purchase the right license. If they really want to boost tourism, they might want to look somewhere else, like revamping/renovating their urban infrastructures and clean up huge chunks of their coastline/beaches which is downright terrible (dirty, full of plastics and so on..and so on...). Also, Thailand is not a cheap place anymore at all . If you are looking for magical tropical havens with cheaper prices and "cool" people...Thailand lags far behind...PS : i have been living/working in Thailand since 2011 (Bangkok). Things and people/mentalities have totally changed in just 12 years. But still a nice place to live 🙂
  15. Been there too...These days are gone since quite a while now..Times, people, society as a whole changed.
  16. That is exactly what i do. I'm in a happy relationship since many years already, but no marriage (i made irt clear since the beginning). No hassle ????
  17. Sir, I doubt anyone can have sex with "any" 18yo Thai woman . 99.9% would most probably tell you to <deleted> off.
  18. I have two teenage daughters. Reading some of the creepy comments in this forum about how difficult it is not to be "aroused" by "these young things" makes me sick. 16yo might not be pedophilia by definition, but a 28 yo full grown adult man, a teacher, having his way with a 16yo student is abject, borderline psychopathic and predatory. It's appalling the number of spineless perverts that come to this country (or many others), often-times as teachers of some sort (near his 'fish pond"). If this were to happen to one of my daughters, not sure he would even make it to the police station. I do not wish him well. Good day to you all.
  19. i am not against marijuana. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that when people smoke it in public places (streets etc...outdoor areas), you have no choice sometimes but to breath in a smoke you don't want to inhale (same goes with cigarettes). And non-smokers have no say. Just shut up and inhale.
  20. Yeah it sucks, but Not sure where the scam is either. These women are adults. They took the decision to give him the money and that's it. No crime here
  21. The original article in The Thaiger states that he would be sentenced to two years in prison and a hefty fine. He would be deported after sentencing. For the prison sentence, I find that truly unnecessary, harsh and exaggerated. Just send him back home and enough...
  22. ....Living and working in Bangkok for 10 years now (yes, with a work permit ????....) . As much as i enjoy the city, Bangkok is certainly not the place i would go to or recommend if i were a digital nomad. Plenty of waaaaay cheaper and gazillion times more stunning places to go.
  23. Oh really. Well i guess they all have their own whimsical ways to conduct surveys. last week,s resullts were Portugal (A Survey Reveals Portugal as the Best Country For Digital Nomads (timeout.com)) Portugal actually opened the world’s first digital nomad village on February 1, 2021, on the Maderia Islands. For anyone who has visited portugal a few times, i am not surprised. Gorgeous place, very nice people and a great way of life at a very moderate cost.
