  1. dam_n...... I've missed out on all the fun, cos my internet connection has gone T-U...... Glad to see you're still trying to educate the colonials, Bangkokrick.... get them talking properly...... Where's professor Higgins when you need him??? Just joking.... I've been trying to play catch-up with all the posts.... I am sorry to see that someone gave themselves a wedgie over my previous posts.... Nothing was said in anyway seriously, and maybe (just maybe) if you read the Brits' contributions in here, you might unserstand a bit more about our sense of humour...... but you'll have to try hard.

Doing my best Rob, but it's an uphill climb. Good to see you back.

  2. I still dont know what the hell a Toodle pip is.

    It means goodbye

I cant see myself saying that to someone at a bar upon closing.

You setting me up for a black eye? ermm.gif

Depends on what sort of bar you drink in!!

Can confirm that toodle pip means goodbye. TTFN. ta ta for now.

  3. Ghandi was asked, "What is your opinion of American civilisation?"

His reply: "I think that would be a very good idea"

Lovely jubbly, you know it makes sense. wink.png

The quote was Western civilisation oh illiterate one. I guess you need to be reminded Ghandi had a problem with Brits not Yanks.smile.png

Don't know why he did not like us we were spiffing chaps.

Perhaps it was the millions of his countrymen who starved?

Well we could not be expected to feed everybody because we were very busy pillaging at the time.Talk about ungrateful!

Are you suggesting that Gandhi was British or merely that he visited Pattaya. Please, i implore you, try to keep on topic!

Certainly was not a Brit and he pretty much despised us. Think that I saw him in Pattaya though, just the once.

  6. Did the Poms give us James Bond ... Agent 007 ??

    The Yanks gave us ...

oh, yes, Get Smart ... goof.gif

Mostly any movie or TV show produced outside of the USA is garbage. That is why AMERICAN made movies are famous WORLD WIDE, Australians and brits havent had an international blockbuster film such as Star Wars, Toy STory or Avatar ever......

Now we see Thaland copying all american TV shows=The Voice, Thailands Got Talent, etc......

V for Vendetta is the best brittish film ever made next up is clockwork orange...

You have obviously never watched the Movie. 'Trainspotting'

The Avatar movie was directed by James Francis Cameron who is a Canadian.

  8. You do not send your Passport.

    You send copies.

    Thanks a lot for that!

I never imagined for 1 min they would accept copies but now I see on their website

' Thailand is an exception to the main guidance '

I have just renewed my passport through the new HK method and it was returned to me within 14 days, although on the web site they say to allow 1 month for processing. I went to Thai immigration and they transferred the stamps into my new passport and I picked it up the next day. There was no charge for transferring the current stamps.

  9. " We have to accept that Sukhothai local authorities had no experience in handling floods inside municipality areas,"... Plodrasob

....and we all have to accept that Plodrasob has no experience in handling floods period!,"

On the contrary, he has plenty of experience, he either hasn't learned anything from the experience or is just totally inept.

So he will keep his job. Inept is good for graft.

  10. Unless they're not very busy, you may be asked to return the following day/next time they are open.

I don't know which office you're applying to for the extension, but when I took the letter to Maptaphut, the IO didn't understand it. I had carefully prepared a summary showing monthly amounts, as the Thai rules require you to show income of 65000baht per month. The Consulate multiplied all my figures by 12 and stated in their letter a figure "per annum". The IO scratched his head and then asked me what my income was - I showed him my summary, which he understood immediately.

Set out your income as monthly figures and ask the Consulate to give you a letter reflecting this.

Thanks for the information Eff. It is Chon Buri Immigration office.

  11. Sorry but I have no idea if it is ready in one or two days.

No doubt someone will be along soon to let you know.

Letter confirming pension/income for Thai Immigration

Consular Section is able to issue a standard letter addressed to Thai Immigration confirming your pension / income in order to support the renewal / extension of your retirement visa. The granting of the visa is at the sole discretion of the Thai Immigration authorities not the British Embassy.

    Requirements:

Photocopy of your current British passport

Original evidence of your current pension/income

Your local address to be typed on the letter

Please ensure the pension/income evidence you provide is in a form that is simple and easy to understand and contains the key financial amounts that are required for inclusion in the letter.

The standard letter fee is currently Baht 2,250 and payable in cash or a postal order. The letter will be ready for collection in person or sent to you by express mail with an additional postage Baht 100.

Thanks for the list of requirements Lite.

  12. The letter from the British Consul is not to show how much you bring into Thailand every month.

It it to show your income.

As you say only open Tues - Thurs.

Thanks Lite Beer, so wrong wording on my part. I usually get 6 months of bank statements from my Thai bank showing in excess of 40K per month and this has been fine for the past few years. I am just wondering how long it takes to get the letter and how long it is valid for. ie can I get it the same or following day?
  13. Hi All,

I have doe a search and cannot find an answer to my question.

I will be applying for my O visa extension at the Chon Buri immigration in Jomtien on the 19th and will need a letter of confirmation from the British consul of money coming into Thailand from abroad every month. I have the necessary information to get this, but has anyone any idea how long it takes and how long the letter is valid for?

I am asking this because I must get the timing right, so as to avoid any delays. I notice that the British consul in only open for 3 days a week?

    Thanks,

    Rick

  14. I applied for a business visa a few years ago and they messed me around for 2 weeks then refused to issue it even though I had all the necessary paperwork. I mailed my 2nd passport to the UK and got a visa very easily. Thailand is not a good place to apply for a Saudi visa, Google blue diamond affair.
