Yes, they do issue a certificate that shows test result and which you have to show at check-in (and arrival) 1,050 thb

1000 baht is 35 bucks us .  thats cheap for convenience. 35 bucks for an airport test i can take right before i fly seems like a good deal unless you are positive of course then it sucks

It does not matter if you have gotten a 60 day extension or not. If you have one now and entered the country visa exempt or on a tourist visa your can still apply for another one until March 25th at this time.

If they extend the order again in March you could get another one after that.

thanks i have to tell you this has been very stressfull for alot of people first just getting here. with the test and go or sandbox. i feel sorry for the people that coming now that have to pay for two pcr tests  2000 baht each???  and two nights in hotel.  the second hotel night seems so redundant its silly alot of people will look a the secont hotel night and says its just not worth it to come. why the second night hotel? only explaination is if the second test comes back positive the authorities know where to chase u down..........

According to Richard Barrow on Facebook :

The new rules for covid extensions have started. People on VOA and Non Immigrant visas are reporting they have been refused a covid extension and have been told to leave the country within 7 days. There may be some exceptions, but it’s up to the discretion of the officer.
Immigration are mainly giving the 60-day covid extensions to tourists. For example, those who have a Tourist Visa or who came in on a free visa exemption. In both cases you must extend for 30 days before applying for covid stamp. But no guarantees. You have to give a good reason. If you have already been here on a covid extension for more than a year, it’s up to the discretion of the officer if you will get it or not. Dress smartly and be polite.
    * I translated from the following that was sent to me by Immigration:

The Immigration Bureau has approved an extension of time for visa extensions for COVID-19 reasons until 25th March 2022, under the following conditions:
    1. Persons entering the Kingdom with VISA ON ARRIVAL (VOA) cannot extend their visa for this reason
    2. Persons entering the Kingdom with a TOURIST VISA can extend a tourist visa for an additional 30 days and then they can submit a reason to stay for COVID-19.
    3. Persons entering the Kingdom as a temporary person, NON-IMMIGRANT VISA, cannot be extended for COVID-19
In the case of tourists already in the country. At the end of the 60-day period for permission to stay in the Kingdom, this time they must leave the country. Or if there is a necessity to stay, there are able to submit an application to stay in accordance with the laws, regulations, and rules set forth.

so under 3.  im reading that even if here on a tourist visa and a previous covid extension they are still giving them one more up until march 25. but bring proof of an exit ticket this time.

confused...........what u mean is the end of this new approval.  the permission to get a covid extension up until march 25.............so what u are saying is we have permisson to get the covid extension up until march 25 and after that approval period (may 25 ) we have to leave.  that all make sense as tourists generally leave by end of april and the long haulers remain.  but this time the thai govt. wants the long haulers out or on an appropriate visa.

That is not entirely correct. Those who entered visa exempt or on a tourist visa can still apply for a new extension until March 25th at this time.

Those that entered with a non immigrant visa cannot apply for another extension now.

I have a friend that entered on a non-o visa who was told by immigration that his current extension that he got before January 25th will not be extended again (March 17th).

even those that entered on a tourist visa and already got an extension?  or only those who have not got a covid extension yet?    from what the drift im getting says is that some of us who are here on tourist visas get one last shot for covid extension and that is until march 25,,,,,,,,,,even if we already are here on tourist visa with a covid extension as we speak now.  ?

    Yes

so u are confirming ,,,,,,,if im on a covid extension at this moment from the last round that ended jan 25.  i get one last extension opportunity up until march 25 for one more 60 day extension we dont know for sure though until some bloke trys it,,,,,i suppose that will be fairly soon ,  as someone who is here currently on thier last extension will need to extend soon so i guess we gonna find out

Not a lot of money, hardly the end of the world.

I'd forget it and move on, I've still got the credit if the world ever opens up again.

maybe u could give the credit to someone who could use it ?  i wonder if they allow credit to be used by another person i could have sworn i bought a air ticket on my air asia acct for someone else once

Well, I do not agree that someone who came for 30 days (visa exempt) two years ago has a better claim for a Covid extension than someone who came intending to be here for nine months on a Non Ed visa or, even, someone on a Non B visa who recently lost his job as his company went under due to Covid.

The original intention was that a Covid extension was those who were unable to return to their home countries because of Covid (and you needed an embassy letter to the effect that this was the case). The authorities have never been fans of border runners, continually going in and out of Thailand to extend their stay indefinitely. The Covid extension was never intended to help out people who were doing that.

In reality, with the number of real tourists so low, it would be in Thailand's best interests to allow almost all foreigners who want to stay to do so. However, that would certainly be a very different mindset to the one the authorities had in 2019.

agreed with the new 2 pcr test and 2 night test and go i dont think alot of people gonna partake..............better to keep the bodies here that are here.  bodies here dont bring covid in

  10. 26 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:

Yes it does apply under the new rules.

When applied for the non-ed visa your tourist visa was changed to a non immigrant ED visa.

if i came in on tourist visa and extended it 30 days and now got one covid extension am i still on a tourist visa?  i just got my covid extension ,  but would like 30 more days , so im hoping to go get another covid extension at some point,,,,,,,,,i think that point in time will be one month from now as every time i try to get covid extensions they are 60 days from the date i apply..........

rumour is that u only get one covid extension.   but i humbly suggest two should be the maximum not one.  i need another month and then im happy to go contract covid in my home country

i also think it should be up to discretion of each immigration office and if you dont like one answer road trip around thailand to get the answer u want from another immigration office.

i think the covid extension visa should require that one will have to show proof of vaccination.  i meet a lot of anti-vax expats here.

I think the Kiwis have a good reason for a further extension as Jacinda won't let them in. Anyone else can go home. If, as the article alleges, some haven't got the price of a ticket, that's not a good reason to legitimise their further stay in the country.

yes kiwis should be able to stay and every one else should go home.. agreed

How is this published today? The extension through to March 25 was published two days ago. It was never automatic, you always had to go an apply for the additional 60 day extension of stay.

The biggest change is that you can now only apply for a COVID extension if your on a visa exempt or tourist visa entry.

im hearing that u get only one covid extension now.  once u get one thats it
