  1. Thought the same, very good. Ep 2, barely OK, hope 3 and beyond get better.
  2. Is there a question in there ? Or do you want some thoughts on the blog author's question at the end ? There is a never ending thread on AN 'do you believe in GOD'. Those questions in the blog are; If you identify as an atheist, agnostic or freethinker, what is your position on the God issue? ... Freethinking Atheist ... by definition don't believe, and IMHO, science has countered most everything in the (Christian) Bible. Don't ask me for links or proof, opinion from my readings and is MHO from those readings. Are you able to use a conception of a higher power that is neither unseen nor divine? ... Athiest, so obvious answer is no, since non believer. What are your own ideas about a higher power? ... simply doesn't exist, on any known level. Is it keeping you sober? Is it helping you to enjoy and not endure your sobriety? ... NO, I keep me sober, by staying happy. Sip when I want to and realize my limitations from past experiences. Some people actually learn from the mistakes. Though I never had a problem with alcohol/drugs. Treated it like a hobby, not a lifestyle.
  3. Don't know why anyone would buy a Leaf in TH ... ????
  4. No & Hell NO Any med I consider using or prescribed to me, I research before taking. No need to read pamphlet, as redundant. I'm an anti vax'er, and Covid being one of the least worrying bugs out there for me ... for me ... for me ... IMHO ... not something I'll debate, so don't bother.
  5. At the land office, and simply called 'provincial land office'. Can also ask at the sub district office. They tell you the appraised value for land, for the area your interested in. They'll also have estimated housing cost, and usually runs between 10 - 15k m², and shows what silly prices some people pay for construction. Our purchases & builds have always been within those ranges, actually less, but we don't go all in full western style kitchens, which will even take it just above the 15k m². We do, did use better building materials though; insulated block (not cinder or red), along with insulated rolled steel roofs. Last and present house, were contracted at 10k & 11k m², +/-, respectfully.
  6. Agree completely. Locally, not CM, but agree, they.ve gone up considerably since we looked 8-9 yrs ago, bought 7 yrs ago, and last year. 8-9 yrs ago and 1 rai for the area, Prachuap Khiri Khan, not Hua Hin and not East side of Hwy #4/Phetkasem, and initially about ฿400k a rai +/-, which I didn't want, too large. We bought 1/4 rai (100 tw) for ฿76k. seven yrs ago. Last year, bought lot across from ours, same, ฿250k, which I thought was silly, but wife wants a garden. End of last year, 2 more lots, same size, on our small dead end soi sold, ฿450k, and corner lot for ฿600k. Oops, as I probably could have bought all for <฿100k each, seven yrs ago. We bought a parcel of land, 6 rai for ฿720k (120 ea), 16 kms outside Udon Thani, and outside a small village, middle of nowhere, in 2010. Divided up into 6 one rai lots. Sold them 2019/20/22 for ฿500 (4) & ฿650k (2) each. If you can find land well below market price, or better, at land office appraised price, then buy it. 7 of the last 8 lots we bought, were at land office appraised price. Only the one across from our present house was not. Same with the very first lot I bought, back in 2000, ฿50k for 1 rai, at land office appraised price, again, 16 kms outside Udon Thani, and not rice land, and didn't need backfill. Some great investments out there, if wanting. Or like myself, small turn overs, and you get to live here, rent/housing free for 23 years. That give's one a bit more pocket money every month ... no rent, while building equity. Been doing that since my first house, over 40 yrs ago, in USA.
  7. Not sure about that, as I'm pretty needy & demanding at times. Might explain the 3 divorces ... ????
  8. self delete, as just realized I simply repeated myself from 2 earlier post. Which I thought were self explanatory.
  9. One Gmap review is 4 weeks old - open. Khon Kaen office has a review, 4 days old - open.
  10. If OP means 'in the city' vs province, then 3 mill may be a bargain in some neighborhoods. Why ... they aren't making any more. That ol' supply & demand thingy.
  11. I would think he would have to apply for tourist visa like everyone else, just to visit and test the waters. May want to inquire if he would qualify for a fiancé visa, but I'd be surprised if so, or approved, unless having considerable assets in TH. Better ... You could try getting married at Taiwan, as they allow same sex marriage, and Thais can visit without a visa.
  12. That's what they came to TH for, that's what they want ... ... thankfully, they don't venture far from their barstool ???? There's nothing wrong with that of course, and Thais have designated tourist ghettos for them. As long as they don't stray too far off the reservation, everyone is happy.
  13. No American (USA) that I know of, would put ketchup on a pizza.
  14. @DeepBlue90 "everyone seems to warn against dating bar girls" Depends if you are 'dating' or employing a bar girl. Either is fine, as long as you know which it is. Some can't tell the difference ????
  15. I know about karaoke & such place, which I don't, didn't frequent when single, as not a P4P person. I have no need for hookers. Fairly fit, (well, not fat) and can make any gal smile in any setting. Yep, I'm all that, and a plate of som tom ????
  16. We had the MG ZS ICE for 2 years prior to getting the EV version. Put shy of 20k kms on average those 2 years, so just shy of 40k kms when sold. Didn't get best kpL, and averaged 10 kpl. 20k ÷ 10 kpL = 2000 X ฿35 = 70k ÷ 12 months = ฿5833 monthly To be fair, half of our kms are out & about, overnight, but when local, we topped up the ICE twice a month, locally, unless overnighting somewhere afar.. Staying local, we energize 100% with solar at home. Now I drive a lot more, locally, since it cost nothing, as long as less than 250 kms r/t, which we do now, since it's basically free, charging back at the house w/solar. Nothing while out for the day w/ICE, a view, coffee shop, a munch, is worth paying ฿875 (25 L X ฿35) to go to, locally. Now we do. Actually the best part of having the EV, as I'll actually explore locally. When overnighting, and further destinations, Charging Station vs Petrol, much cheaper, but that's for another thread.
  17. Depends on the bar, and if 'employed' by the bar, and more importantly, maybe, where the bar is located. If an 'adult' entertainment district; Bangla, Soi 4, Soi Cowbay, then probably yes. As a non working gal wouldn't be sitting there sipping, or desire the company of anyone that frequents that area. Saying that, not all gals working at all or any bar is for rent. I know a few that worked at bars, and you'd couldn't offer them enough for them to entertain you. Not that they wouldn't, but the offer of money, would probably result in a hospital visit for you, if persistent. Assuming the OP wants to meet a gal, and more comfortable in an alcohol setting, go to one that doesn't cater to foreigners. Personally never understood the attraction of 'hooker' bars, except for killing time and people watching, as usually some nice eye candy in the late afternoon, early evening. After that it's all business and nothing that interests myself. I'll take a Thai music venue bar/club, over most things geared toward foreigners.
  18. Never heard of Grinder, but the other 2 ... krap ... ... unless drunk, and thankfully days past ???? ... but KRAP
  19. One does need to know the ingredients of what they are eating. We do most from scratch at the house, and most meals are in house. No worries of excess sugar, salt, msg, hydrogenated oils. My bread has bread flour, water, salt, yeast. And taste good just by itself, right out of the oven. As I posted earlier, nothing negative about that, especially if normal serving size. Rarely add much, if any sugar to anything, unless a pastry. Mostly use Olive Oils, occasional peanut or sesame oil. Carbs, I eat a lot of bread, potatoes and whole wheat pasta. Not a rice fan. My peanut butter has peanuts ... that's it. Unsweetened cereal for brekkie/first meal. Intermittent fasting (12-15 hrs) to burn off excess whatever, as not the most physically active person. Aside from a wee bit high blood sugar, my #s are all normal.
  20. Ep 1 definitely better than 2. Hope 3 & 4 (have) get better, or I'll be giving it a pass.
  21. Agree 100% Yet to have any pizza made by an Italian, that came even close to a good NY Style pizza. Even the discontinued NY Style from Pizza Co beat every other pizza I've had, except SoHo's NY Style Pizza, and both on par with each other.
  22. Those of us with solar, really can't emphasis enough, that everyone, if possible, should have some version of a solar system, no matter how small or large, on or off grid, or mix/hybrid. Our monthly bills at rental w/PEA ran between ฿3000-3500 a month for 600-700kW / units. At the house now, using solar, we just broke 600kW for first time, during this billing cycle. Used 2kw of PEA this billing cycle. I kind of overestimated our use, and a system larger than really needed, but also have EV now, which wasn't really planned when house designed. ฿3000-3500 for PEA savings ฿3000 for petrol savings vs ICE use System cost ฿445k (installed), having ESSs for overnight ฿445k ÷ 6k = 74 months = 6+ yr ROI Without the EV, maybe 10 yr ROI, as we haven't really used the ACs much since Aug 2022 installation. That will increase Feb, Mar, Apr & May. Our system: https://aseannow.com/topic/1268214-solar-8kw-hybrid-inverter-w10kwh-upgraded-to-20kwh-in-sept-2022-essbattery-not-diy/
  23. Agree, unless electric, then torque is quite impressive, but neither E-MB or small ICE-MB have much of a top end. Personally, I wouldn't bother driving anything over the road, distance on the highway, less than 750cc. Actually never owned anything smaller till I got to TH. Unless you actually enjoy driving a few hours on the shoulder of the road, aside from a comfy ride.
  24. 2kW used this billing cycle, read this AM, ฿6.49 + BS Previous bills at rental, using PEA 600-700kW, was ฿3000-฿3500k a month. Finally broke 600 kW with solar use this 'billing cycle' Though that did require 4 out & abouts w/EV, locally. 103 kW the last few days of Dec 520 kW this month
  25. Thanks but I have a wee bit too much already. Gave a few 100 grams to my nephew a while back. Besides, I don't qualify, as not crazy enough to pay 200/gr, and thought 139 for one purchase was too much, after buying same quality for 14 & 8/gr.
