  1. Haven't needed to replace yet, and coming up on 5 yrs old for 1, maybe 3 or 4 yrs old on the other. The don't really get used as much, as folks living in Hua Hin or northward of. Pretty sure the replacements filters were under 1000 baht each, and actually still in original boxes they arrived in. Daughter lives in Krung Thep and used quite a bit. Hers bought same time we bought the 2nd one, so 3-4 yrs, and she also hasn't replaced the filter yet.
  2. Yea, I think for 9 mill, I could find a nice lot surfside, though I certainly wouldn't spend 9 mill to be surfside. If I had that much spare cash, I wouldn't even by in TH. Something wrong with a nice surfside condo, that YOU can actually own ?
  3. My wife has a list of things to do: ... rent a digger ... wrap me in good garden plastic, not that I care, but prefer bugs not to eat my corpse ... hit the PO Box every year to send the 'pulse check' back. ... don't let my account go over $10k USD, make monthly withdrawal transfers ... enjoy as long as possible ... LUV YA
  4. If a magnet will stick to the pan (iron), it's usually good for an induction cooker. All new pans will be labeled anyway, for energy sources. Steer away from cast iron, as it's a bit too much, and a techie told me it will degrade the cooker. Besides, it will probably scratch up the cooking surface also. Big cast iron fan, but keep to the gas hobs.
  5. We rarely have any cooked leftovers that aren't eaten, by us or the dog. Most things making it to the compost are old fruits & veggies, along with coffee grounds and paper. Anything else gets burned, or sold/recycled, which really isn't much for us.
  6. My ancestors left the Empire, for more freedom. Why would I want to consider myself anything but a US American. They sacrificed so much to rid that stigma, why would I want to reclaim it ????
  7. Don't know about now, but we were taught that. Fighting tribes either killed all the males, or they went to the slave trade. Here's one for you ... some of the newly freed slaves, couldn't make it in the USA, so went back to the homeland ... & ... became slave traders ... ???? "Some of these returned African freed slaves became slave traders themselves in order to survive.1" http://www.sierra-leone.org/Books/1926 Slave Revolt.pdf
  8. Central Online comes up with decent sale now & then. I got a nice carbon steel, ceramic coated fry pan (Cuizimate ฿299), and one of my favorite atm. Just searched and not available. We have an Electrolux induction cooker, though hindsight, should have got the better model, with more temp options. Takes a bit of getting used to, as heats pan surface almost instantly. More a gas cooking fan myself, as easier to control.
  9. Buy a high quality induction cooker & high quality non stick pan, instead of combo thingy as sounds a bit limiting.
  10. Most of what the Anti EV'ers spew has nothing to do with Thailand, or EVs here. Why I ignore them.
  11. Maybe if I was old and unhealthy, I'd be concerned. I'm 68, and not even in a high risk category, IMHO ... far scarier things out their to be concerned about if diagnosed with: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-age-sex-demographics/
  12. A very small minority of the slave trade of the Americas, was actually in the British (mainland) colonies, later the USA, and within 70 ish yrs, abolished.. Most of the trade went to the islands of the Caribbean. https://www.pbs.org/wnet/african-americans-many-rivers-to-cross/history/how-many-slaves-landed-in-the-us/#:~:text=Between 1525 and 1866%2C in,the Caribbean and South America. So when I hear racist like Oprah stating millions of slaves & blacks were lynched in the USA, you just laugh and ignore them.
  13. POD (Problems of Democracy) class, covered the operation, ins & outs of Govt & current events, though I really don't remember much of Vietnam War being discussed, and this 1972/73. Thinking back, that seems strange now, maybe a curriculum taboo, as most current things were covered in class. There was the nation wide school walk out, but that's about all I remember about Vietnam, school wise. School policy was punishment if you participated. Again strange, since the war was actually winding down at the that period. TET over, and obviously no attempt to actually win the war, (defense contractor's wet dream) hence, part of all the protest at the time, I think. Thinking back, though I always knew, my High School was an excellent school.
  14. A yank, so we covered US History, from early explorers, to 1400 settlements, the 13 colonies, development, Am Revolution, what lead up to, and all. Same with Civil War and all they one would need to know about N vs S & slavery, before & after along with expansion westward. Really don't know what else could be taught, about the plight of all slaves in the Americas, and or immigrants from different EU countries. Tough some EU history, along with Mexican, Aztec / Incas & S. America. Actually fairly inclusive, with EIT BS, Asian routes Marco Polo, Ghengis Khan, China, and their dynasties. Nothing about OZ or Japan, and very little about WW1 & 2, strangely, and absolutely nothing about Vietnam, even though there well over 10 yrs before I graduated.
  15. No waste here. The very little that isn't eaten, to the compost pile, along with all scraps. Just raised not to waste food ... ever. In parents house, up bringing, if you didn't finish what's on your plate, you knew what your next meal's appetizer was going to be ????
  16. They make a damn tasty sandwich, FL's Cubans anyway (the Cuban ????????), right up there with Philly Hoagies. And our fine friends from South of the border, certainly know how to stuff tortillas.
  17. Excellent article and explanation about EVs & battery, composition, maintenance & life expectancy (degradation). Using the one chart, expected life / cycles before 80% capacity level, and 2500 cycle (LFP), times my average of 350 kms per cycle, and the MG ZS is good for a ball park of 875k kms ???? And ... will still be going strong afterward. Yea, that's the last car I will definitely ever own, along with the wife. As long as the rest of the car last as long as the battery & motor. 875k ÷ 20k kms a year ???? https://zecar.com/resources/how-long-do-electric-car-batteries-last
  18. Not necessarily disdain, but definitely surprise. Then hindsight, some compassion or or even relief, since simply eating leftovers, instead of criminal activity.
  19. Also the very lowest risk to any serious effects of covid, if even noticing they've been exposed to it, as along with most people, only experience mild flu symptoms, IF that.
  20. So what's a semi-normal 'Solar' day like ? Today, far from peak conditions, which would be sunny blue skies. Instead we have some thin overcast, and AQI @ 78, but, sunshine still coming through and enough to cast strong, dark shadows. Short vid, producing shy of 7kw, the EV is plugged in (2.3kW), and two inverter ACs running, set @ 27°, which I just raised to 28°, as the bedroom was a bit chilly, was 23° ish, now 25°. ACs (13 & 24BTUs) conditioning about 105 m². Producing ATM, 6.8 ish kw EV & house load @ 3.5 ish kW ESSs taking 3.25 ish kW inverter using the rest, and minimal Sun is still a little SE, as shadow is NW, so not prime exposure yet, especially on W panels. This about 1 hr ago.
  21. I pretty much rely on my immune system to do what it does, and does an excellent job at that. Simply fight, kills all things entering my body quite successfully without any of the products, potions, sprays, creams, meds, vaccines, the snake oil salespersons are pushing. 68 yrs on, and seems to work perfectly, all by itself. Imaging that. I prefer not to fix, what isn't broken.
  22. This site's stats are iffy at time, but saying that, not a whole lot of history of BEVs / EVs in Thailand for folks to chime in on. Like myself, I think many waited, still waiting, for more options. https://www.statista.com/outlook/mmo/electric-vehicles/thailand#unit-sales Another graph: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plug-in_electric_vehicles_in_Thailand#Domestic_manufacturing_and_sales There's a few Youtube vids out there, with owner sharing their experiences, and quite impressive, the lack of battery degradation reported by them: https://aseannow.com/topic/1280254-ev-seeking-advice-or-suggestions/page/2/#comment-17781623
  23. Good, enough BS time wasted on special interest group agendas. Where's the Native American studies, the English, Irish, German, Dutch, Italian studies ? Try teaching subjects students can benefit from; more science, math, political science, computer science. Stop with the dumbing down, divisive BS. IMHO ... what they teach already is too much, as mandatory learning for special interest groups. Want to learn it, take an elective course. "While DeSantis has favored legislation that limits the teaching of critical race theory in his state's schools, Redfern noted Florida law requires instruction on African American history in K-12 education. According to Florida statutes, state schools must teach the "history of African Americans, including the history of African peoples before the political conflicts that led to the development of slavery, the passage to America, the enslavement experience, abolition, and the history and contributions of Americans of the African diaspora to society." https://www.newsweek.com/ron-desantis-administration-defends-banning-african-american-studies-class-florida-1775151
  24. Having excess available production, is a good thing, for that week of total krap weather. Some days, we barely topped up the ESSs (20kW). Since so overcast, didn't really need the ACs, but a few days of that, and you'll wish you had the extra panels / production ability. https://aseannow.com/topic/1268214-solar-8kw-hybrid-inverter-w10kwh-upgraded-to-20kwh-in-sept-2022-essbattery-not-diy/page/4/#comment-17734118 One day in August, we produce 49kWh, sending about 15 to the grid. Yesterday we produced 34kWh, used 32.9kWh, since charging the car.
  25. Very first ... End ALL foreign aid. ... If I couldn't pay my bills at the house, I wouldn't be giving money away. Bring ALL military personnel home to USA soil, waters. Corporations want security, start paying for. Stop trying to police the world. Nationalize the oil industry. Think just those 3 would balance the budget and pay off the deficit in record time.
