British student’s harrowing balcony plunge leaves him fighting for life in a Thailand hospital
This is about 90cm, as comes up to my hip, which I measured awhile back, to see where 90cm did come up to. My upper body, most of my mass hanging over ... and yet, I didn't fall. Be funny as all hell if I did though ... ???? Conclusion ... know your balcony, but don't turn your back on it, it may push you off.

British student’s harrowing balcony plunge leaves him fighting for life in a Thailand hospital
As you know, I was replying to your comment, about a comment about the US, not TH ... but hey, whatever fits your spin. We're not suppose to victim blame, but I've yet to see a balcony push anyone off.

College students, alcohol & balconies are not a good mix.

How Fast Can You Touch Type? Does It Matter Now?
I actually taught myself how to type, as a requirement for employment I was seeking. Minimum speed required to pass said test, was 30 or 35 words a minutes, and forget how many characters they considered a word. Very happy I did teach myself as it has come in quite handy. If you don't know, that's not fast at all. Although I see people, some cust. serv. people doing the 2 finger typing, if you want to call it that, and have to roll my eyes. Then a buddy of mine, would be sitting next to me, banging out a novel, and all it got is 'Flight of Bumblebee' by comrade Rimsky going through my mind watching him.

More Americans say Supreme Court is too conservative
I disagree, as I dislike the idea of abortions, and feel the same about telling someone what they can or can't do with 'their' body. Agree with the court though, it shouldn't be a federal issue, in a republic.

The justices got there by appointment & confirmation by their representatives in Congress they elected. If not to your liking, blame yourself.

Leaving the bar stool ...
Most are same same, concrete slums, buildings, streets, walkways, not well maintained, though acceptable, as it is what it is, 3rd world ... but, congestion & no parking, with little variety is what really turns me off. Krung Thep wins for variety & public trans. Takes 10-20 visits before Krung Thep gets boring. Other metros, 2 days is more than enough usually.

Leaving the bar stool ...
Didn't think I'd ever say this ... 'TH has a must see ... 'anything' ... But the countryside of Nan, along Hwy @ 1081, is really worth the trip to see. I really like Khao Kho, but Nan's 1081 is definitely my favorite drive now. From Nan city, over to Bo Klua Not too shabby all the way up and over from Loei way either. Highly recommend cutting through Khao Kho to get to Loei, if coming from Krung Thep or south of. Hate Thai cities, except Krung Thep, but love the countryside.

I guess they should have paid attention in school, when 'gov't/voting' was being taught. Everyone, left-right-middle has the same power of the vote. Knowing and exercising that ... is power. You snooze you lose. Don't cry after the fact. Get use to it, as it's going to take more than a few election cycles to swing it back to 'left' ... thankfully. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2021/01/13/how-trump-compares-with-other-recent-presidents-in-appointing-federal-judges/

Thai Cabinet Approves 24/7 Operation of Entertainment Venues in EEC Areas Including Pattaya
Along with ganga, I think they have recriminalizing prostitution on the agenda. Actually a good thing, for the workers and income tax collection, as surely they'll be reporting at tax time. Maybe get some health bennies and on the SS system, for that 500 baht a month after retirement.

Nationwide Milk Shortage
Greta told them to stop eating grass and farting all day. How dare they add methane to the atmosphere.

No big surprise there. Only surprise is, why did they even have him as a candidate, considering the same happen last time.- How do you conduct banking without a passport when your passport is sent off for renewal?
Wouldn't just a wee bit of planning deal with that. As above, copies, and ask you bank what they'd accept if needing to do something. Would think just having your monthly budget or 2 in cash, while the PP is being process. USA only took 2 ish weeks, if that. Does any PP renewal take more than 1 or 2 months. If living month to month, you may consider you have more issues than just banking while waiting for you PP to come back.- BYD Atto 3 Owner reviews
I know a few things, our EV will be the last car we by, as expect it to outlast us, and the wife is 20 yrs my junior. It's the best performing and one of the best riding cars I've owned, and the best car that I've owned in TH. Those being Vios, Mazda2 & ICE version of our MG ZS. IF I continue, as the last 20+ yrs, and rack up about 20k kms per year, I'm saving ฿53k+ by not buying petrol, plus 2 oil changes, and full tune up, about every other year. And avoid going to the petrol station about 40 times a year. Just the 53k+ a year petrol savings over 8yr battery warranty, and we're 400k+ ahead vs owning the ICE version... YEA, just petrol savings. If I had to pay for electric, I'd still be saving ฿41k+ a year or ฿330k+ over the warranty period of the battery, and still have 70-80% capacity at the 8 yr mark. Still waiting for someone to point out the negatives.- Opinion: Thailand is at a crossroads because of unelected, unaccountable bodies
And yet, I don't know anyone, Thai or expat that thought the coup of elected officials was a good idea.- BYD Atto 3 Owner reviews

We're out & about now, and I'm actually getting a deeper appreciation for TH. Up N of Krung Thep and lovely countryside, though I wouldn't bother being here if not rainy season. Only lived in 2 countries, so don't have much to compare to, but think TH rates higher than many, depending on one's circumstances and why they actually came here. Visited many, and can't say there's too many I'd want to live in. Could leave tomorrow if wanted to, but can't think of a place I'd prefer to go to. Quite happy here. Enjoy the positives, ignore the negative, and accept both for what they are. Value for smile factor is pretty hard to be for myself. YMMV - Pita ready to step aside if his party fails to win senators’ hearts
