My new Thai gf (35/f) invited me (42/m) to visit her family in Isaan after < 1 month of dating? I feel uncomfortable but agreed. What do you think?
11 weeks ???? for 1st Thai wife, and took as many months to realize, not the best idea I had that year. Divorced her but hung out for a while before I threw her out. 2nd Thai wife, live with 8 yrs before marrying, hmm, wonder why that is working ????

Looking for peaceful retreat
You're a joy to be with ... not a fan of Thai or western tourist ???? If anything of interest, there's going to be some tourist there, inclusive. Had to G 'Ban Rak Thai', looks pretty cool.

You didn't miss much, though have to admit, I'm not a cave fan.

Looking for peaceful retreat
Don't need to spend that much, or even possible, locally. I've only stayed surfside at Hadthong (dated) w/good restaurant, 'The View', the View and at Thur GH, basic but comfy, and nice hosts. Thur New place would probably be best now, though haven't been, Zea Zide Hotel Swimmer's beach is Ao Manao, and there are accommodations there. Been upgraded since I stayed there, so probably good. Is on RTAF Wing 5 base, but no issues being so. Weekend has nice night market along the surf, at pier area & N of.

Looking for peaceful retreat
Really no reason to, as not much there, except wife's home tambon (Na Klang) and some family still there. Only reason I've been there, except for passing through during very early visit to Erawan Cave, which is actually in Loei.

Anyone tried Mexican Tacos ?
That's location dependent, as ours/PKK rarely stocks soft tortillas, and gone fast when they arrive. Not big on western fare offerings.

If wanting to stay near Andaman Sea @ Phang-Nga, then just north of Sarasin Bridge. Think I was one of the only farangs in the area. Great for a sunset with plenty of local vendors around ... my snaps: Natai Beach Might see one of my friends, cruising for a munch:

You’ll never eat seafood sticks again after seeing these pictures
One reason I loved FL & Keys as my playground, fresh seafood. Have a dive buddy, same thinking, all fish smells. All out for dinner, and I ordered a nice grilled blackened tuna and he was amazed it didn't smell like a can of tuna. Still wouldn't sample it though ... ???? Damn it as tasty

The price war on EVs may harm interests of customers
Competition is a beautiful thing. Enough with the price gouging of EVs. When 2 of the same spec'd cars are on sale, and one is 2X the price ... competition is the only thing that stops that price gouging. CEO of the Volkswagen ... there's a trustworthy guy, as if anything he says is credible. VW wouldn't be a manufacturer of autos I would even consider. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_controversies

"Rice bran oil: This is produced from the outer brown layer of rice, known as the rice husk. Rice bran oil is highly refined and although there are some studies that suggest it provides health benefits, its ratio of polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acids to omega 3 fats is 20:1, which is enough of a reason alone to avoid it. At most, omega 6 fatty acids should be at a 4:1 ratio with omega 3 (1:1 is optimal). As high levels of omega 6 fatty acids are highly inflammatory and can have huge implications on your long-term health, I suggest rice bran oil is one you avoid." oils Yes, a better choice ????

Fresh fish shouldn't smell 'fishy' ... avoid if it does. I guess you don't live in TH, as fish sauce is used quite often.

You better not read the labels of the items in you food cabinet containing 'natural flavoring', unless you want to be on a diet.

Has Janet Yellen's trip to Beijing improved US-China relations?
"Throughout her visit Ms Yellen sought to persuade her Chinese hosts that under President Joe Biden, America is not fundamentally hostile to China." Sending a 2nd CSG to the Sea of China & calling Pres. Xi a dictator doesn't come off as hostile at all ???? Another Trump hit piece from the echo box, but ignoring the facts... 'new boss, same as old boss': "Biden has clung to tariffs on China. American business owners say there's a cost" Biden keeps Trumps tariffs on China goods Spinning the BS instead of reporting the news. BBC ... another joke of an entertainment news organization ... IMHO

I doesn't lower it, it illuminated even asking for it. Who pays extra for used, when you can rent or buy new. Then if she wants to have a kid with him, just became a family of 4, without the hanger ons... ... RUN

@AventurasEnMadrid can't wait till she brings up the Sin Sot, and no Thai person would pay for someone with kids already. That should really let you see things clearly. There will be a nice piece of land of hers or family you can build on, or buy something new in 'her' name. RUN

Not sure about that, as I've married up 3X, (of 4) though first 2 weren't beneficial at all. 3rd beneficial, only since I can't own land here, and investing with and under her name has meant living here cost/rent free, all 23 yrs, and then some extra in the pocket.
