I am seeking advice from anyone who has been able to secure long term residency in the above. I bought the property in my Moo Baan but it’s in my wife’s name. She is younger than me but should anything happen to her, I am unsure about how long I can reside here. So I have been reading a bit about’ Thai Property Law’ and saw a YouTube short video by an Australian lawyer working in a Thai Firm. He talks about a “ Usufruct” whereby a Thai Attorney draws up a document to be presented to the Local Land Office to seek approval for you to be able to “ own a piece of property….and lifetime usage of land”. He was not referring to Condos but land and I am left wondering if this law only applies to if you bought a piece of land and then build your house or as in my case, bought a house in my wife’s ( not legal) name? Any thoughts or experiences much appreciated. Thanks

As a retired cricketer, I took up Umpiring a few years ago. After standing for several hours, a foot massage does wonders for me. I feel very relieved physically and mentally, usually have a nap as well. In fact our Annual Cricket Tournament, a 7 day event, we have a massage tent and they are kept busy all week with mainly foot massages. I also occasionally have a body oil, but with recommended masseurs! There are connections from various points of your entire body to your brain. Works for me and any family or friends touring get introduced and they enjoy it..

I spray parts of the walls, behind beds; behind settee and spray some on to a small mop and wipe down my porch area. No more excrement to clean daily!

Retirement visa renewal and passport expiry date
Tazmo replied to Tazmo's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thanks again, some extremely useful advice given, much appreciated. Especially from CharlieH about informing the Bank. I went to VFS today as per my appointment but the lady couldn’t guarantee that I would get my pp back in time, she thinks about 6 Or more weeks! But she advised me to renew in while in London, it would be quicker and cheaper. Then when I get back I can get the visa transferred. But I am wondering now if there will be a problem going out on the current pp and returning with a new one. I will enquire when I go to renew my visa. worse case scenario, I will stick with the current pp for visa renewal and travel, then renew it upon my return. -

Thanks for that Lite Beer. I have an appointment today, yes I am in CM. I will try to find out the time period and if I suspect it will be longer than the 14 July, I will not submit for renewal today. I will also enquire about’ emergency passport’ if such a thing exists?? I will show them my Air ticket. BTW my partner is in a similar position but she has a Thai passport! -

Thanks to you all. Spot on answers which have been very helpful. I am in the process of applying for a new passport, so that my new visa can run until July 2024. -
Me and my Thai Partner had our boosters at Nakornping Hospital. No problem, except you Ned to ask for what you want or else they will give you Pfizer. We asked and got the Moderna. But it’s a good idea to take a couple of paracetamols beforehand. And you might need to repeat it later as the arm gets a bit painful and sore.

We have had water filters 3,000 b) fitted and been drinking water from the filters. But recently my Thai Partner decided to boil the water from the filter before we can drink it, a lengthy process!! Does anyone have any experience of the need to do this? She claims it is to eliminate ‘ limestone slag’ from the water! I am feeling bloated and constipated from drinking the boiled water. Any thoughts on this subject please?

I applied online and received an acknowledgment email with my T47 form attached. This was completed with my home address. However a couple days later I received an email saying my application was rejected! I completed the form while staying at a Hotel and they quoted that hotel address, seeing it as a new residence! so I have to go in person!

I took mine into a Phillips dealer in Chiang Mai ( the Mae Rim road). They sent it to BKK and I got it back in a few weeks. I had the heads replaced. I tried to do it myself and bought new heads from Boots in London, but couldn’t do it and Boots couldn’t help. So I was refunded.

90 day reporting online / How?
Tazmo replied to djayz's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I found out today that for 90 days reporting in online, if you don’t have a TM 6, then you just type TM00000 this is in CM. You won’t be approved without this! -
Immigration Agents In Chiang Mai

I am surprised to read that you’re getting Social Security from another country, while not resident in that country! Is that normal or am I out of touch? -
Tourist Visa for a Thai to Canada
Tazmo replied to Tazmo's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Thanks all. Managed to get her Visa, needed an invitation letter from Canada, which my niece did. she had to provide a bank statement; evidence of property ownership here in Thailand; details of our relationship; and one visit to the Embassy in Bangkok. it took altogether 90 days and she got a Visa for 5 years. -
I was told that traveling on the train during the day can be fun, seeing the country etc Food sellers etc depends on your carriage. I done it by bus, overnight, cheaper and okay. Go for the VIP bus. CM is currently cooler in the evenings and mornings, I am older, so sweater and coat this morning! The AQI today is in the red! N95 mask. Try to visit places outside CM, Mae Rim etc Restaurants in more Scenic settings than in CM, waterfalls etc i

If I don't have a reentry permit ...
Tazmo replied to Chicksaw's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I was very lucky. Once I forgot to obtain a reentry permit on my retirement visa. The Immigration officer at CM kindly asked if I needed one and directed me to the counter! I had no passport photo nor photocopies! An official took through the back route to get a photo taken and they did the photocopying for me. The Office in CM is now moved to the front, before you get to Immigration. I didn’t know about this change and went through Immigration last October. An Official escorted me out to the Office and I had to go through Immigration again! I live very far from the Immigration, so avoid trips. But it’s worthwhile to save losing your visa! -
Life is not a rehearsal! Everyone should be entitled to make their own decisions based upon their individual experience, development, growth and emotional competence. It’s a steep learning curve. I won’t interfere because you don’t know all the facts and feelings. Insecurity is hard to measure and cost. Security is what we’re all looking for. Westerners come here looking for what they can’t get in the West, some are intelligent but emotional dunces and it’s therefore a learning process which is not free!

Alcoholics with co-exisiting sex addiction
Tazmo replied to Andy F's topic in I Drink Too Much Forum
Proton if you believe that, good luck! Remain ignorant. I worked in a Managerial capacity in Addiction for years in the UK and Thailand, so what I have said is not subjective. -
I think you are on the right track with bringing your mother over and getting help to care for her.. Good that she won’t have medication, it often make them worse and end up having falls. Research I read on Care Homes in the UK is that they are no better than the Social Services homes they shut down and sold out in the past. The quality of care you can give as a close relative is immeasurable. The care homes in North America are similar. They are all like McDonalds, with Corporate identity and owned by the wealthy, eg BUPA in the UK. I managed a Care Home in the UK, there is no resources for Staff training! Mostly recruiting Staff from overseas without even an induction! Once your Mum is not disturbed at nighttime, you should be able to manage her with help. Bear in mind that any changes eg moving homes can make their condition slightly worse. But if she recognizes and remembers you, this could help. Best wishes and hope all goes well. I suppose you will escort her over to your house?
