  1. ???? Exactly what I thought. So I ordered a 25m CAT 6 cable. It came today. The idea was to put it up through the ceiling and down into the bedroom which is farthest from the WiFi router, which is in the office. So I plugged it in to the Ethernet switch - which is connected to the router - and plugged the other end into the Android set top box. B*gger me, the speed dropped to 5mbps!!! It still is around 5, sometime 3 sometimes 12. I've turned off the WiFi in the settings of the set top box to make sure it is measuring the Ethernet speed. It doesn't make sense to me, especially as the picture - for as long as I've been testing it - is not buffering!
  2. I'm pretty sure I tried various settings for the picture quality, hoping that a lower resolution would help. But I found that the very lowest resolution was worse than the "Automatic" setting which, I presume, was HD. I'll investigate again later.
  3. ???? Indeed! I was incredibly busy yesterday and don't think I even logged in to Thaivisa, so missed many posts. re. the IIG, I used to religiously download the NecTec Internet maps to see how they - Thailand - were improving the bandwidth. I stopped about 10 years ago when they got too d@mn complicated. It's was fairly easy to see what was going on 20 years ago, but now? OMG! I'm not sure if the forum software can handle them: Here's the latest. Do you see where my buffering is?
  4. I have used http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/ and https://www.audacityteam.org/ in the past, but it's a bit tricky. I used it to get rid of some very bad language (from me) from this phone video: In House Final Edit.mp4
  5. Thanks for the links - I'll give them a try. I have been using https://watchnewslive.tv/ for ages. It used to block my favourite channel (I won't say which because you'll call me a right-wing nutter) but now it just works - no need for a VPN.
  6. I'm afraid there was quite a ruckus tonight between the docile female and the bird killer male, so I've decided to take him on a long trip tomorrow - one way. I don't know where either of them came from, but he's just a trouble-maker. - she is very relaxed - he is ready to pounce or make a getaway.
  7. The package I have is 1000/500. The problem is not on the phone, I just looked at the app on the phone to see what other packages there may be. The problem was on my IPTV set top box. The server (Asia 2) on Pulse-TV is normally around 15Mbps (sometimes 25, or 30 Mbps) but this morning the channel I was watching was buffering a lot. On checking the speed this morning, it went below 7.5 Mbps (needed to prevent buffering according to the "chat" help guy) a few times and once went down to 1 Mbps! I was thinking of paying for a better international bandwidth from 3BB, but I now wonder how the server speed test is calculated? Is it the speed I'm getting on my Set Top Box, or is it the speed the server is getting from its ISP? So if the server shows a speed of 1 Mbps, does it mean Pulse-TV needs to fix it? Or is it a "local" 3BB problem that I could possibly avoid by paying for higher international bandwidth? I need to learn more about this stuff! ???? By the way, the channel is OK now - no buffering.
  8. Years ago TT&T had a service called "Maxnet Premier". I recall that it was supposed to provide better international bandwidth. Does anyone know if 3BB has a similar service? I can't see anything like it on their phone app.
  9. Sorry, I don't know about that - haven't left the Island for many years.
  10. Card? It's a piece of paper. I have a TM30 receipt in my passport which DOES have my name and address on it.
  11. He's quite tame and friendly. He was at the bottom of the garden this morning so I called him over and gave him some food. I also picked him up by the scruff of the neck and gave him a good talking to. Then he had some of the food and disappeared. Probably doesn't speak English. The female ate all her food - Friskies Surfin' Favourites - but he left most of his. Maybe already had his fill of another bird. Maybe I have to take him on a long drive to a countrified place and let him go. I've done that before with troublesome cats - ones that just want to fight with other cats, and won't relax.
  12. This cute little black and white male cat turned up a few months ago, made friends with my female cat and I thought he'd settle in. I feed them both, so how do I stop him eating the garden birds? PS. The video is 360 x 640 Cat Eating Bird.mp4
  13. Beat me by 2 years - 5th Feb 2016! Time I bought myself a new mobile...
  14. IF they ask me, I will say: "Because you cut off the signal to my cable box without telling me, even though you knew I was a paying customer on True cable, and you forced me to change my set top box to True fibre, and you took nearly two weeks to do that, with multiple appointments when your technicians didn't know what they were doing, or didn't have the correct equipment, or didn't show up at all. Fortunately during that period, I discovered a much better system that is half the price and with more channels. OK?" ????
  15. I am sick and tired of the stupid Shopee adverts. ???? Apart from that, no problems.
  16. While waiting for the F1 to start... (delayed because of rain): So, how did the installation of other apps go with the 3BB box? I could buy a better Android box and use the existing Pulse-TV box ("magicsee N5 MAX") on another TV. ????
  17. I'm definitely going to have a look (free preview) at "Best-iptv-uk.me", but only after I've got used to all the stuff available on Pulse-TV. And that could take a week or two! ????
  18. Agreed. I'm still getting used to all these UK channels that I have seen for nearly two decades. I'm also getting used to how the same people are still at the BBC, doing the same jobs that they did 20 years ago, but look so much older. ???? I can only presume that the BBC pay them so much money that they have no incentive to move on to other channels, or that no other channel would pay them the ridiculous salaries that the BBC (i.e. the tax payers of the UK) are paying them. Matt Taylor the weather man used to annoy me 20 years ago and he still does. Still waiting for F1 to start in the rain....
  19. I don't really understand what this is for. I have a Dtac SIM card (very old - over 19 years) and I top it up very rarely because I make phone calls probably less than once per week. Mostly, I buy time for the phone (*1013) just to keep the balance valid. It currently has about 350Baht balance valid for 44 days. I buy 6 or 9 months "time" for 12 baht (?) or something ridiculous just to keep it valid. I access the Internet via WiFi. I have thought about getting a data contract, but haven't. I really have no idea what you can do with the data contracts that you can't do via Wi-Fi. F1 is going to start any minute now... Sky Sports Live...
  20. Pulse was the first one I found out about when True cut off the signal to my street box node, because they decided to convert the area to the fibre system, and ignored any users who were still using the old cable system. (I'd like to be able to sue them for breach of contract, but TIT.) I viewed the Pulse system at a TV member's house and couldn't believe how good it was and less than half the cost of True (27,700 baht). I bought that immediately and was watching my favourite programs within a couple of days. True messed me around for another 9 days, so I was glad to have the IPTV working. Because of this thread, I am now looking into other systems but I have a lot of reading to do about "side-loading apps" on my Android box, EPG services (so I can find what I want to watch), and other stuff. So, thanks for your link! I'll add it to all the stuff I have to investigate. If I can add it to my Android box and have it as an alternative service, then I will probably do it considering how much I'm saving by dropping TrueVisions.
  21. I just watched Man City thrash Arsenal 5-0 in HD and no throttling. Thanks xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx. And bye-bye TrueVisions! ????
  22. I have an LG GBP50NB40 and it is very reliable. Been going for years. I have an LG model GP65NW60. Took me 5 minutes to find it because I hardly ever use it! ????
  23. I was going to write up a complete summary of this fiasco with True, but there have been so many scheduled appointments by SMS, phone calls and cancellations that I have given up trying to recall them all. At one point the True guys arrived with two Gigatex boxes - each with 4 or 6 vertical aerials: - because they thought I wanted True Internet, which I must have told the True call centre staff half a dozen times that I didn't want because I have 3BB. What I can remember is that the appointment for Wednesday August 18th came and went. No technician came. After calling True I got another appointment for the following Saturday 21st. So, they turned up and installed a ZTE router box on the end of the fibre cable, and which has a co-ax output. That output goes into a splitter to provide the co-ax signal for the set top box in the same room, and also the co-ax signal for the set top box in the other room. They both connect to the TVs using HDMI cables. It all worked OK in the first room but I pointed out to them that the co-ax cable in the second room came from a splitter in the roof space (the old signal from the street box), so the signal going up into the roof space from the splitter in the first room was going into the splitter in the roof space on the output side of the splitter, and not on the input side. So up into the roof space they went to join the cable from the first room to the cable that goes down into the second. Whoopee, it all worked, but what a mess of cables! As left by True: After tidying up: So all that's left for me to do now is to go to the True shop in Central Festival (Phuket) and demand (very politely) that they give me at least 12 more days on my contract (if not a full month) for the lack of service and all the hassles they have given me. Some hopes!
