  1. Why wait? If you can apply 30 (or 45) days before expiration, why put it off? There's no advantage to waiting until the last few days. it's just asking for trouble.
  2. Apply one day before expiration? Not advisable. Stuff happens you may need a few days to sort out.
  3. We had planned to use the amphur in Bangkapi within walking distance of our old apartment. Learned the man that signed the certificates had died recently, and they were having a substitute from another amphur come in occasionally. We could apply, but would probably wait several months for an appointment. We provided the same documents at the Korat amphur that Bangkapi required. Nothing extra or out of the ordinary asked for. And as it turned out, no witnesses were required.
  4. Where is your betrothed from? They tell me you can go to any amphur, but might get better service in someone's hometown. We went to a smaller town outside of Korat, no appointment and no waiting. Went directly to the marriage/divorce desk. Handed over the required papers, waited about 30 minutes for processing, paid 20 baht. Received two lovely certificates.
  5. You want to pick your own stocks, or let a mutual fund manager do it? Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn have a very limited selection of foreign stock mutual funds available. Fees are high. Much better to find an offshore broker. https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Save-And-Invest/Mutual-Funds/Foreign-Investment-Funds
  6. Not western style mattress with box springs. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/3-90-180-8-100-i3909202769.html?spm=a2o4m.store_product.list.41.db07637dTG47GI Maybe look for a furniture supplier that makes smaller bunk beds for school dorms.
  7. Are you implying the gym could be negligent for NOT having cameras pointing at the lockers, you know, where the customers get dressed after their showers? Should they maybe put some in the showers also, you know, just for extra security?
  8. Don't worry. I'm sure that within six months of opening, every square meter of available floor space will be covered with plywood-n-tarp market stalls selling all the latest in cheap, knock-off Chinese plasticware...
  9. This is where you need to start looking. What happened? If you didn't change any settings, which of your programs have auto-update enabled? And when was the latest windows update? Doesn't that usually occur during the first week of the month? Maybe do a googles of recent internet postings to see if there are other users complaining of random bits of software suddenly not working properly during the past ten days.
  10. My advice would be go to a real doctor at a real hospital for a real examination. Zhou Schmou on the corner won't check the health of your eyes. Try Rutnin Eye Hospital if in Bangkok. https://www.rutnin.com/en/home/ Then mail order glasses from Zenni. https://www.zennioptical.com/
  11. Retirement visa without monthly income requires 800k before/after the extension, can be reduced to 400K for about half the year. OP claims there is no money in the bank and no personal assets.
  12. Employees of Bangkok Bank at CW know the the immigration drill. They can get your passbook update and bank letter completed quickly depending on number of customers. Should take less than ten minutes once they call your number. If you've got a fixed deposit account, they can do a "balance forward" passbook update, printing current balance in the passbook, without the need for any activity. No small transaction required like some other banks. If the CW branch has server problems (last year fire in the server room), you can get the certificate at the nearby Laksi station branch. IO at CW told me bank letters were good for up to one week. That was for a retirement extension, don't know if that also applies to marriage extensions.
  13. Are you sure the seller "went out of his way" to contact you personally about this offer? Or do you think it more likely the promotion was a mass mailing sent to everyone in the seller's customer list? "Sorry dear" is probably a poor machine translation. If Chinese, and not the Thai importer selling on Lazada, they would be used to using 亲 (qin) when speaking with their Taobao customers online, which can translate as "dear," like in "dear customer."
  14. It's quite normal for shops/sellers to have sales after the new year, and to send promotion circulars to their customers informing them. Sometimes you luck out and buy at the right time, other times not so lucky. The item was worth 10500 to you when you ordered it. Is it worth less to you now? I suppose you're having buyer's remorse for ordering during the holidays when the prices were higher, but seems a bit off to cancel the order causing the seller to incur shipping costs both ways............and then order again from the same seller, and the seller having to ship the same item a third time. If the price on the item had increased in the time between order and delivery, would you be willing to pay the higher price on arrival? Would it be fair for the seller to demand you pay the higher price since it hadn't been delivered yet? Anyhoo, did you by chance contact the seller and ask about a rebate?

  16. The special rate is only for routes with the big Airbus. I'd guess the smaller ATR with space for only one collapsible bike is more likely flown domestic. Would have to check the airline schedule to confirm. If domestic travel, I'd just go by bus or train.
  17. I'm sorry. I thought it might be something overlooked by OP. If he's been in Thailand for 20 years, not working for at least 3, then he's probably on a non-O extension. With no assets, he wouldn't have an elite visa, so must be either marriage or retirement. Both of those have financial requirements. With no incoming pension mentioned, I assumed he must have either 400k or 800k in the bank, enough to cover accrued medical bills and move to a government hospital.
  18. Or Bahtsold. Don't know if this one is free, though. https://www.bahtsold.com/quicksearch2?c=&ca=514&pr_from=0&pr_to=NULL&top=0&s=bicycle
  19. Not working? On what kind of visa? If it's a non-O, what about his 400K/800K in the bank?
  20. What routes are you planning, and which planes serve those routes? See their baggage rules. Bicycle must be collapsible and suitably packed in a hard protective case. If bicycle is packed in soft bike travel bag, a Limited Release tag will be signed. Dimensions: ATR : 50 x 100 x 50 cm Airbus : 145 x 160 x 110 cm Applicable on Bangkok Airways , Airbus-operated flights, from now until further notice. Note : Bangkok Airways ATR operated flights are not applicable for this offer.
  21. Try Craigslist https://bangkok.craigslist.org/search/bia
  22. I'm not an expert at this.....but I do recall reading somewhere that some power strips may be capable of automatically switching N/L if reversed.
  23. Do you have a multimeter? Check continuity to see which of the plug prongs are connected to which of your outlet holes. And what about that socket tester? Could that be dodgy?
  24. Gosh! The police sure were busy little beavers this holiday weekend. Wonder how much unreceipted cash was collected for the policeman's benevolent fund?
