We bought a new Hisense with a 3-prong plug, but only 2-blade outlets available in the kitchen. We used a 3-prong to 2 blade travel adapter with surge protection. You can find 'em in DIY or Tesco. Looks something like this: Ran fine for about a year, after which I ran an additional grounded power from the main board.

That's a nice setup. What pump do you have that mounts directly on the tank? -
Time to pay those traffic fines ... stop trashing them

I'm experimenting with a crazy scheme. Don't laugh. It's called follow the traffic regs and don't get any tickets. Stop laughing! -
So, let's say Person X has a baseline statement from Dec 31, 2023 with a balance of $1 million. Does this mean Person X can transfer into Thailand any of this amount free of tax? And for how long? Can X bring in $100K each year for the next ten years tax free, by showing the 2023 base balance along with a sum total of all monies transferred in until exhausted?
-
Let's try this example, please. Person X: Over 50 with retirement visa, not collecting pension or social security. Married to (retired) Thai national, files tax as single with no dependents. All income from savings and investments. Manages fund sales and monthly dividends to stay under the tax due threshold in home country (USA). Files a tax return as is required, but pays no income tax. IRS allows about $14,500 single tax deduction, and up to about $47,000 capital gains taxed at 0%. Tax return would be filed claiming up to $47K income and capital gains, but would not be assessed tax. How much can person X bring in to Thailand before being taxed, and at what point is a Thai tax return required? Only Thai income is the measly 1.25% fixed account retirement balance, already taxed at 15%. What home country documentation, if any, would be required? A USA tax return showing zero tax paid? A brokerage statement from the prior year?

Would you mind posting a photo of the system? Feng Shui people - How do you deal with them?
NoDisplayName replied to Chris Daley's topic in General Topics
That's not a feng shui problem. Have you considered having your testosterone level tested? Maybe ask your sister in law if that's a good idea. -
And the next brake failure news story will be......

You're overthinking! If the vehicle stops, then the brakes work. What more do you want? -
Bangkok Drugstore is still online. https://bangkokdrugstore.com/ I recently (two weeks ago) opened an account and placed an order. Unfortunately, due to the method of setting up the account requiring filling out an order form (but not placing order?), my order was incorrect. I contacted their customer service multiple times to change or cancel the order, but they failed to do so. They just said to place another order. No, I'm not going to transfer money from my bank account to theirs unless the order is correct. In the meantime, found what I wanted at a local pharmacy.

Why does God >insert your grievance here<....?

Okay, fine. Play that game. Atheists are asking religious people, not necessarily "you". Out. -
Why does God >insert your grievance here<....?
NoDisplayName replied to Sunmaster's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Not exactly. Atheists are asking why YOU believe your particular deity "acts" a certain way in your particular fables. It's like asking why Voldemort doesn't just do X to cause Y to happen to Harry Potter. They're discussing the actions of fictional characters in a story. It's your story, so they want you to explain the inconsistencies. Asking a muslim how come the moon is a solid sphere if Mohammad rode a winged horse into space and split it in two. But in this case, at least there's evidence of an actual Mohammad, if not flying horses or sliced moon cheese. -

Why not ask "Why does Sauron want to dominate Middle Earth?" Same answer. -
House water pump/supply system questions

You have the Hitachi or Mitsu models? The round pump, the one with the larger pressure vessel, pulsates? I thought the 10-liter (?) vessel under the round pump was there to maintain more constant pressure, where the smaller 1-liter vessel on the square pump would result in the water pump cycling on/off more often. -
C'mon, man. You're just taking the pith.

Ah. You are correct. "Pressure tank coated with special paint. Both internal and external non-toxic rustproof." It's the 1600 baht replacement tank that comes in stainless. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/mitsubishi-wp-85-105-155-pqq2q3qsq5-i4147718339-s16276271332.html -
House water pump/supply system questions

Thanks for the comments. Lazada has replacement tanks for about 1500 baht, however 9 years is plenty. We'll probably sell and move some place quieter as the city encroaches before the tank rusts through. It's just the two of us, single-story. That particular model comes in a variety of flavors, ranging from 80 to 500 watts. The 80-watt version closely matches what we have now, but I'd probably bump up to the 100-watt model for 30% more flow, if we go this route. -

This one looks promising. Integrated larger stainless tank simplifies the pipework. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/mitsubishi-wp-85q5-80w-i1998744286.html And this is an important selling point from the catalog! The pump head is made of grass and not meat. -
House water pump/supply system questions
NoDisplayName replied to NoDisplayName's topic in DIY Forum
This is what we started with. Have cleaned up the area, and already painted the pipes. Plan to replace all pipes when we install the new pump. I think this is way too complicated, and can simplify the system. Should just need 1/2" supply into the 1000-liter tank (can be relocated). Then a thicker diameter (3"?) pipe from tank to pump with 2 45's, then reducers from the pump to 1/2" into the house with 2 45's as well. -
