Trump's legal defeat in Colorado may turn into political gold
NoDisplayName replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
That quote was not from the Colorado Supreme Court decision. That quote was not from an active federal judge. You did not cite a source, apparently implying with the second paragraph that was from the court decision. Trump was impeached and acquitted, thus I'm sure the Supreme Court will overrule this. And the people will be able to defeat Trump in a fair election. Democracy. -

It's spot on. Using legal tactics to subvert the system. Trump had a trial in Congress and was acquitted. Now we let the people decide. -

I don't want to disenfranchise the majority of Colorado voters. I don't agree with their selection, but I respect their choice. I, Shirley, hope Texas doesn't use this underhanded method to steal MY vote against Trump. -

Under Prop 113, if Brandon gets 90% of the Colorado vote, and Trump barely gets the national popular vote with 50.01%, Trump would gain all 9 of Colorado's electors. -

Colorado has ensured that their votes are no longer significant. They can save themselves the expense of a state campaign and election by simply rubber-stamping the outcomes of New York and California. Doesn't matter if 99.9% of their votes go to candidate A, if candidate B is popular on the coast. You can virtue signal all you want by changing the rules in Colorado, as for now, odds are a democrat will win the Colorado vote. The new law won't change the outcome of where Colorado's electoral votes will go. For now. But wait until the glove is on the another foot! When Trump, or some other republican wins the national popular vote, they'll be happy to accept the electoral votes of democrat-leaning Colorado, potentially giving them the (p)residency. Actions have consequences. You can try to rig the system, but sometimes the underlying factors radically change. -

The electoral college system is defined by the constitution. You remarked "an electoral college win while losing the popular vote, isn't democratic." Okay, fine. In that case, submit an amendment to the constitution. -

In that case, we can.........democratically............change the constitution. There is a defined process to do so. Or we can subvert the constitution because the other guy might benefit. -

There ya go! Godwin strikes. Maintaining the electoral college emboldens nazis! If Brandon gets 75% of the Colorado vote, but Trump gets 50.25% of the national vote, then Trump gets all of Colorado's electoral votes, disenfranchising 75% of Coloradoians. Pure popular vote means candidates will campaign only in New York and California. Flyover votes don't count. No point at all in holding sham elections between the Appalachian and Rockies, as the election will be decided on the coasts. Me? I want the right to vote against Trump in the next election, like last time around. -

I'm okay with an impeachment process where Trump was acquitted, whereas some are not, and are resorting to court shopping to get a temporary win. Virtue signaling win, as Colorado grants all 9 electoral votes to one candidate, with Brandon easily taking the state last time around. On the another hand, in the unlikely event a majority of the population (or a majority of the electors) choose Trump, democracy wins. Interestingly, Colorado recently passed a law to grant all electoral votes to the candidate with the largest national vote count, effectively disenfranchising Colorado voters. Under Colorado's Prop 113, if Brandon wins the popular vote in Colorado, but Trump wins the national popular vote, then Trump gets all of Colorado's electoral votes. "Sir, we had to destroy democracy in order to save it.....because Trump could'a won." -

Why do you want to relieve me of my right to vote for the candidate of my choice? Why do you have against democracy? ......By the way, I voted for Brandon in the last selection. -

Has Trump been convicted of insurrection? Last I heard he was impeached, but acquitted. Are we not putting the cart before the ham sandwich? -

Majority in one survey that may or may not have selected wording and "random" voters to achieve the desired results. Irregardless, if the majority of Colorodians agree, they would never have voted for Trump, so the whole thing is pointless, except for an exercise in virtue signaling. But sure, let's block more people from the ballot. That's democracy in action, eh? And don't worry about the consequences. The Republicans would neeeeeeever use the same tactics to get Brandon removed from state ballots for corruption and/or senility. -

I take the pickup to a test station next to a Tesco. Drop off the truck, go shopping, eat lunch, then retrieve the truck. Within a couple hours, the test center has done the inspection, paid the annual tax and renewed the insurance.

It's expected. They see Xmas on the TeeVee, in the movies, in the western music, in the tikky-tokky videos. It's just a thing to copy, not just in Thailand.

Plugs not working but breaker says everything on
NoDisplayName replied to Nic0627's topic in The Electrical Forum
What's that there RCD breaker in the down position? And what's the C25 breaker in position #2? Have you mapped out the breakers? Are the downstairs plugs run off the oven circuit? -
Issue with Immigration at Sawanapoom

Shirley, the bad cops use burner phones, not landlines assigned to their official capacity. -
It doesn't matter. Exit/entry stamps can go on any valid page in the passport. You can request the immigration officer to fill up small blank spots in earlier pages, freeing up full pages for larger stamps. Prior to departure, I find a suitable blank spot in my passport, attach a post-it labeled "Exit Stamp Here ---->". I ask the IO to put the exit (or entry) stamp in that free space when I hand over my passport. Never been refused.

The fall of Minneapolis.

Problem was not the technique or how long he used it. It was that Chauvin prevented his subordinates from moving Floyd or starting CPR for several minutes after being informed he wasn't breathing and had no pulse. Kind of like he wanted to make sure he stayed dead.
