  1. Your partner downloads the immigration sec. 38 app from the google playstore, submits a few documents (housebook, id card, rental contract depending on situation) to register her residence in the system. When that is approved, she can log into the system and fill out a TM30 registering you at the residence. You can do a search in the app to show the status of your application. Once it's approved, take a screenshot for your phone, and print off for future use. Your first 90-day report must be done in person. After that you can use the online system.
  2. Amazing! Hub of hubs! Hubba-hubba!
  3. We have discount for police man.
  4. from the linked article: Hmmmmm......... Nothing to see here.
  5. If travel is an option, then consider India. I had a valve replacement at Apollo in Chennai. Roundtrip flights from southern China, a week recovery at a beach resort. Total was about 10% of the cost in the USA......essentially equal to just the cost of the valve itself in the US. They accept visa/mastercard.
  6. Have an acquaintance In England wanting to spend about six months in Thailand. The embassy website is unclear, with dead links and unanswered questions. So I'll ask here. An e-visa SETV allows for one 60-day stay. Can that be extended an additional 30 days at immigration? Is the e-visa METV available at the London embassy? The website did not specifically say it was, only that METV fees would not be refunded if an SETV was issued. Can each entry on an e-visa METV be extended an additional 30 days at immigration? I suppose he could do the visa waiver + 30-day extension three times, fly in once, plus a couple day trips to Vientianne. Thank you for any and all advice.
  7. Where's the scam? Amulets are amulets. Tourist no like price, tourist no pay price.
  8. Judging by the traffic fatality statistics, selling amulets at any price should be a crime.
  9. Hmmm...... "Police Operations Center" = "inactive post"
  10. Talk to your landlord. See if he's amenable to updating your rental contract, or writing a new one, with an appropriate exit clause. Annual contract, but you can end early with 30 or 60 days notice, perhaps with a small fee not necessarily equal to the deposit.
  11. No view of your properties for five years? Doesn't seem like a very diligent landlord. But shirley he must have questioned the five years of utility bills that he or his property management office received. Not curious as to why his empty buildings were racking up the same utility bills as occupied buildings? The Indian fellow should send a bill to the landlord for renovating and maintaining the empty properties.
  12. Careful what you pray for. The contract doesn't explicitly say "female," nor "human." Good luck.
  13. Not if yesterdays gofundme was correct. Thai lady in Shanghai was sent by consulate there to Thai embassy in Beijing, and is being told she needs 100k baht to pay for repatriation.
  14. Get a copy of the chanote with all the measurements, go out to the land and check that all the boundary markers are in place and visible, and the dimensions are correct. Maybe invite the neighbors to confirm none of the pins have been re-positioned. Mark 'em with spraypaint, take photos, measure to fixed points to they don't get "misplaced" in the future.
  15. You never know until you try. I suggest you mail order one of these devices and do what comes natural. Good lucky! https://www.lazada.co.th/products/pickaxe-pickaxe-pickaxe-dual-yang-axe-i2773896709.html
  16. I understand all that. But is this not at the discretion of the IO? That means IO has a choice. Approve or deny, nothing guaranteed. It's possible to do it elsewhere at the IO's discretion. Seems (today at least) not possible at Chiang Rai at the IO's discretion. Maybe tomorrow at Chiang Rai with a different IO?
  17. I know, we think the IO should do it.....and they probably should. But is this a "should" or a "must"? The guy is in Thailand now, he has a non-O-A now. He's not applying for a change of visa now, he's telling the IO he wants to go out, kill the O-A, then come back on a visa waiver and apply for an O. Is this an absolute right, or something up to the discretion of the IO? He's going to have to leave the country regardless in order to change to a non-O. Mae Sai would be convenient, Vientiene not so much. IO sees it as "you gotta leave anyway...........so get the proper visa before you return."
  18. What's the problem? Sure, the IO seems to have confused this non-O based on retirement for one based on marriage, but easy solution. Just give the IO what they want, assuming it's not a deal-breaker. Photos and home visit no big deal. "Okay officer! I'll bring you some photos of me and my wife. How many do you want? Please call before you plan to visit. I'll have the wife lay out some snacks and coffee. Thanks!"
  19. Is that what that meant?! I assumed,..........never mind.

  21. OP, have you considered folding bikes with 20" wheels? https://www.decathlon.co.th/en/bikes/folding-bikes-14431
  22. That's for importing by post. There is no import duty for bicycle brought in as personal luggage. I've flown in a dozen times with full-size bikes in cardboard boxes. Last time I arrived with TWO bikes. Nothing to declare.
  23. It's possible, I've ridden from Kunming to Singapore. But recharging an electric bike along the way, finding cheap hotels would be problematic. Why didn't she take the train? Cheap hard seat from Beijing to Shanghai is 175 RMB (about 850 baht). She could have gotten a standing room ticket for even less. She had her passport with a valid visa when she left Beijing. Why not just take a train or bus to the border with Laos, instead of spending six months in Shanghai.
