  1. Just a note letting members know I found new uses for the US Embassy notarized marriage affidavit. Seemed like such a waste - $50 for an embassy notary stamp when my county clerk back home will notarize for $5, and translation and legalization only came to $20. And then the nice lady at the amphur did the deed for us in under 45 minutes, walk-in, no waiting, no witnesses required and no translator, and gave us two lovely certificates suitable for framing for just 20 baht. Anyway, about those uses. The paper has your name, your passport number and your residence, with an embassy seal. Bangkok Bank Silom accepted the single affidavit, made a copy, returned the original to open multiple bank accounts. The amphur lady scanned the legalized affidavit into the system, and returned the original. DLT at Mochit accepted the single affidavit in lieu of a residence certificate and/or embassy residence affidavit. They retained the orginal (+copy for motorcycle), so drivers licenses were applied for after the hitching. YMMV
  2. And the app does not require a TM6 or an ending date. We left both blanks blank and were successful. I read somewhere the online version still needs the TM6 but can't say from personal experience.
  3. Could OP try registering the apartment in the Section 38 app using his ID, the lease, and the owner's ID? If he gets through the system he can file his own TM30 with the app. If it doesn't register, he's only wasted ten minutes.
  4. I booked a $16 onward ticket the day before my flight departed. Within ten minutes was able to log into the airline website using the reservation code to confirm the booking. Flew into Thailand in July via Hong Kong. The ticketing agent wanted to see an onward flight to issue boarding passes. The agent logged onto the airline reservation system to confirm the flight was legitimate. Immigration was not interested in an onward flight, just stamped a 30-day visa waiver in my passport.
  5. The WISE main page has a widget that lets you enter how you will fund your transfer, and will tell you exactly how many baht you'll receive for your western money using the right now rate. You can compare that to Bangkok Bank daily forex rates: https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Other-Services/View-Rates/Foreign-Exchange-Rates
  6. Last month on the highway outside the Tesco for fifty baht.
  7. I'm going to apply for a license next month and will be required to take the exam. I do not have a valid foreign license. Can anyone provide a link to websites with sample driving test exam questions? I've done a search and looked through some of them, but I'm having trouble understanding the English. I'm not sure if these are bits of Thai driving regulations that have been run through google translate by the websites or they actually appear on the exam. I'm looking for actual question sets that have appeared on prior exams, or perhaps a full study guide with 1000 Q&A's to memorize.
  8. Excellent. Picked the Lazada 5-star seller with the most purchases. Paid by bank app, immediate code delivery via chat. I am activated. Thank you for your assistance.
  9. Hello IT Experts! About six months ago, the HDD in my laptop carped out, the C drive was getting corrupted, and windows was losing functionality. I replaced it with a same-capacity SDD, and had the drive seller install windows 10 pro. Now that six months has passed, I'm getting "Your Windows License Will Expire Soon" at startup. It seems the seller used the "organization activation service" and that needs to be re-validated every six months. I ran "wmic path blahblah" to find my activation key, and tried changing the product key, but the old key was not valid. I then ran "slmgr/xpr" to find my expiration date next month. I assume now I need to buy a new key and enter that using "Change Product Key" in Settings/Activation. How about the product keys sold on Lazada? Will these keys require replacement every six months as well? With a Lazada key, will windows update need to be suspended? (I tried forum search and google search, but the most recent Thaivisa thread I found on this was from 2017)
  10. We tried that, but her nephews are...........unreliable at best, and would want more than the shippers mentioned by sanook. I'd prefer a professional service with a large covered truck, fixed quote, and cargo insurance.
  11. Thanks! GF will contact both LalaMove and Deliveree via app. Lala looks good, would go with the 6W truck with cargo insurance. We tried to contact Daeng on Facebook but no response.
  12. I am confused, both by the question, and the "correct" answer. https://move2thailand.com/driving-license-exam-in-thailand-2020/16/
  13. My girlfriend and I will be moving from Bangkok to Isaan soon. We're looking for a reliable mover preferably with a covered/enclosed van to haul the contents of her 28m apartment to the new house. Any recommendations?
  14. Check with the bank to confirm the minimum amount to avoid finance charges. Have enough in the account to cover annual debit card fees. If you have two accounts with online access, you don't need to use an app. You can move cash between the accounts to show activity. You won't need an OPC text code for this. Otherwise, have transferwise set up so you can occasionally send $50 or so to show activity.
  15. The fatal flaw in your cunning plan is that cheap charlies don't tip.
  16. Are you sure about that? I thought it was only the initial O-visa, valid for 90 days, where you get "under consideration" time and return in a couple weeks for the visa stamp. Isn't the annual extension stamped in your passport while you wait?
  17. Neither. I mean the first annual extension, 90 days after getting the NON-O stamp. In the final 30 days of NON-O visa validity, apply for annual extension and get a re-entry permit. On the same day can apply for the residence certificate.
  18. I was at CW this week getting a NON-O visa. Checked in with the B-desk IO doing residence certificates. She told me when i get my first extension, i can use the receipt giving first 90-day report date to apply for a residence certificate.
  19. That's only about $2,000. Doesn't sound so bad compared to the cost in western countries. https://staminacomfort.com/how-much-does-a-hyperbaric-treatment-cost#toc-heading-1
  20. Thanks, but what is all this for? Is it required for the appointment, or an optional time saver? Does this replace the requirement to sit in a room playing with cellphone for an hour or so while videos are screened?
  21. @ThailandRyan About that DLT e-module of which you speak, there is no information on the site, just sign up and begin. What's the procedure? You do the module, take an online test, get a QR code to show at appointment time. Does that replace taking a test in person?
  22. I was at CW picking up my shiny new NON-O visa this afternoon. While downstairs to make copies, noticed the Bangkok Bank office was dark and taped off. An employee told me their server was down for repairs and would be back up in 3-4 days. The lady in the copy shop said there was a fire in the server room earlier. The Laksi Station branch is nearby for bank letters.
  23. Hello from Thailand! Woke up early the day of my first flight (Wednesday), worried about entrance requirements. So i logged into onwardtickets.com that has been recommended by other forum members. I booked a flight out three weeks after my arrival, valid for 48 hours, paid $16 by credit card. I got an email with a flight booking PDF after just a few minutes, and then five minutes later I logged onto the airline website using my last name and the reference number on the booking. Nice! They had a booking under my name. Just arrived in Thailand yesterday, transiting in Hong Kong. When getting my boarding pass, the agent had a checklist of required items. NO Thailand Pass required, and NO insurance requirement. She did want to see my vaccination certificate and my visa. With no visa, she asked (but did not ask to see) if I had 20 thousand baht or equivalent, and she asked to see my flight out of Thailand. I showed her the booking email PDF I downloaded to my cellphone, and then the big moment arrived. She logged onto the airline website to confirm and no problem. Done and dusted, got my boarding pass. Best $16 insurance I ever purchased.
