  1. Retirement visa without monthly income requires 800k before/after the extension, can be reduced to 400K for about half the year. OP claims there is no money in the bank and no personal assets.
  2. Employees of Bangkok Bank at CW know the the immigration drill. They can get your passbook update and bank letter completed quickly depending on number of customers. Should take less than ten minutes once they call your number. If you've got a fixed deposit account, they can do a "balance forward" passbook update, printing current balance in the passbook, without the need for any activity. No small transaction required like some other banks. If the CW branch has server problems (last year fire in the server room), you can get the certificate at the nearby Laksi station branch. IO at CW told me bank letters were good for up to one week. That was for a retirement extension, don't know if that also applies to marriage extensions.
  3. Are you sure the seller "went out of his way" to contact you personally about this offer? Or do you think it more likely the promotion was a mass mailing sent to everyone in the seller's customer list? "Sorry dear" is probably a poor machine translation. If Chinese, and not the Thai importer selling on Lazada, they would be used to using 亲 (qin) when speaking with their Taobao customers online, which can translate as "dear," like in "dear customer."
  4. It's quite normal for shops/sellers to have sales after the new year, and to send promotion circulars to their customers informing them. Sometimes you luck out and buy at the right time, other times not so lucky. The item was worth 10500 to you when you ordered it. Is it worth less to you now? I suppose you're having buyer's remorse for ordering during the holidays when the prices were higher, but seems a bit off to cancel the order causing the seller to incur shipping costs both ways............and then order again from the same seller, and the seller having to ship the same item a third time. If the price on the item had increased in the time between order and delivery, would you be willing to pay the higher price on arrival? Would it be fair for the seller to demand you pay the higher price since it hadn't been delivered yet? Anyhoo, did you by chance contact the seller and ask about a rebate?

  6. The special rate is only for routes with the big Airbus. I'd guess the smaller ATR with space for only one collapsible bike is more likely flown domestic. Would have to check the airline schedule to confirm. If domestic travel, I'd just go by bus or train.
  7. I'm sorry. I thought it might be something overlooked by OP. If he's been in Thailand for 20 years, not working for at least 3, then he's probably on a non-O extension. With no assets, he wouldn't have an elite visa, so must be either marriage or retirement. Both of those have financial requirements. With no incoming pension mentioned, I assumed he must have either 400k or 800k in the bank, enough to cover accrued medical bills and move to a government hospital.
  8. Or Bahtsold. Don't know if this one is free, though. https://www.bahtsold.com/quicksearch2?c=&ca=514&pr_from=0&pr_to=NULL&top=0&s=bicycle
  9. Not working? On what kind of visa? If it's a non-O, what about his 400K/800K in the bank?
  10. What routes are you planning, and which planes serve those routes? See their baggage rules. Bicycle must be collapsible and suitably packed in a hard protective case. If bicycle is packed in soft bike travel bag, a Limited Release tag will be signed. Dimensions: ATR : 50 x 100 x 50 cm Airbus : 145 x 160 x 110 cm Applicable on Bangkok Airways , Airbus-operated flights, from now until further notice. Note : Bangkok Airways ATR operated flights are not applicable for this offer.
  11. Try Craigslist https://bangkok.craigslist.org/search/bia
  12. I'm not an expert at this.....but I do recall reading somewhere that some power strips may be capable of automatically switching N/L if reversed.
  13. Do you have a multimeter? Check continuity to see which of the plug prongs are connected to which of your outlet holes. And what about that socket tester? Could that be dodgy?
  14. Gosh! The police sure were busy little beavers this holiday weekend. Wonder how much unreceipted cash was collected for the policeman's benevolent fund?
  15. I would assume from the lack of any detail provided that you don't have anything in writing. No contract, no agreement to pay back anything ever, no proof of any sort of loan? I suspect you have nothing more than an entry in your passbook showing a funds transfer, or perhaps only a large cash withdrawal. In that case, you're probably out of luck.
  16. You could try Fidelity. If they somehow realize you reside outside the USA, your account is restricted such that you cannot purchase mutual funds. You've got a US address and phone for the application. They should be able to handle transferring your entire portfolio from Schwab, including your IRA with no tax worries.
  17. Maybe reference Thai-UK tax treaty? https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/thailand-tax-treaties
  18. Oh. I thought you could get it after explaining why you needed additional time, which would be, well, an extension in my opinion. Unsure of what the IO would call it. Was also going by this: https://www.legal.co.th/resources/visa-immigration-law/thailand-immigration-law/thailand-immigration-rules-thai-7-day-visa-extension-stamps/
  19. I've read many times on this forum that if you're coming to the end of your visa and can't manage to exit the country in time, you can get a 7-day extension from immigration.
  20. But of course! You can't support an army of dodgy visa agents and "cousins" that can fix paperwork problems with foreigners meeting the visa eligibility requirements.
  21. Condo #1: The owner doesn't want you. If you arrive, he won't give you the key. Cancel. Condo #2: The owner wants you to cancel on the platform, but keep the booking, thereby saving him the booking fee. If he's going to screw over XXX.com, he'll do the same to you. Cancel. Hotels are nice this time of year. Best to book one and enjoy now before China opens the floodgates.
  22. IO told me the bank letter can be up to 7 days, with passbook update on the day of application.
  23. Wife spent a couple nights in a private hospital (Vibharam) nea Huamak station for thyroid surgery last month. Room rates: VIP 3850, single 3150, double 2550, 8-bed 550. Thai social insurance pays 550/night for room. We requested a single, but don't know availability until day of surgery. All rooms were booked, so wife was placed in the 8-bed ward. It was fine. Clean, quiet, good nursing staff. Curtain dividers, no TV's, limited visiting hours. We had no complaints. Single rooms have a sofa for relatives to sleep overnight. I wound up staying at a new hotel 5-minute walk from the hospital. (P.Park Residence at 650/night)
