Republicans begin walking back campaign promises
NoDisplayName replied to Peabody's topic in Political Soapbox
A guy who might possibly be under consideration for maybe being vetted for potential negotiations concerning inclusion in a future cabinet in three months or so said a thing we can quote mine and take out of context. Sure, buddy. Whatever fits the narrative. -
Thailand's Expats Urged to Register with TRD for Tax, Says Expert

I can't imagine spending that much. Last month I purchased a new lawn mower and a new water pump, and wifey has 3 cats to feed. Nothing to do with income or taxation. -

What deflecting? I have now read the "article" and now have been informed that some people are considering ways of being fiscally responsible by finding ways to "pay for" tax cuts. And that's a bad thing? -

Or the bond was set at the then current exchange rate equivalent of $20K, randomly selected at random by some random official, which coincidentally happens to coincide with your personal anecdotal spending habits. Nothing to do with taxation, and no way indicative of what the average foreigner remits or spends monthly. -

This doesn't make any sense. A retiree's immigration-mandated security bond of 800K in the bank is no indication of actual living expenses. This is money held hostage, sitting in an account, not income. My wife's house and truck are paid off, we have no debt. Why would we need to spend 67K baht/month? We can easily get by on 15K/month. -

If I stated some disinformation as dog's own truth, would you rush out to read it in Pravda? What if they gave you 10 communist propaganda articles for freezies? -

Talk about clickbait titles! "Republicans begin walking back campaign promises" The relevant part of the article you managed to post stated a nonpartisan group had made a report indicating Trump's proposals......the same proposals that loser Harris had also stolen and promised.......would increase the deficit. No mention of the effect Musk taking a chainsaw to bloated government waste would more than offset this. No-one is walking back anything. You now claim that some are "already looking at ways to scale back some of his more expensive ideas." Shirley, you'll be more gracious when Vance wins the presidency in 2028! In other words, "Do better!" -
Poll -- Will president elect Trump last through his term?
NoDisplayName replied to Jingthing's topic in Political Soapbox
He won't......ever............leave. He'll make a deal with musk to upload his maga-nificent persona into an indestructible vibranium android. The constitution will be suspended, the Supreme Court will be disbanded, congress will retire to their mansions in Trump Heights. All hail Trump! (or else) -

That is surprising. Opposite my experience in Bangkok and Korat. Could you share some non-personally-identifying details? What office? Did you have any assessable income? What sort of documentation was requested that a bank or brokerage statement wouldn't easily suffice? Why would many years of documentation be required when income not from current year is not assessable? -

Not likely. Showing zero salary/income and zero assessable remittances is normal for many filing only to request refund of interest withholding tax. In case someone asks about remittances, the response that it was prior savings or pension should be sufficient. -

You left out one that will affect us here - cancelling tax on social security. I'm sure that won't affect the budget, as our Harris supporters will refuse to accept the tax reduction, and continue to pay their fair share.

Currently ahead by nearly 5 million votes.
