  1. Yet he did indeed complete his thought, something strangely overlooked by those following a narrative. The second sentence can be pointed out to them multiple times, but they continue to peddle their quote mined jewels. "You know they're all war hawks when they're sitting in Washington in a nice building saying 'oh gee, let's send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy."
  2. Understood. "When did you stop beating your wife?" Gotcha!!!!!!!
  3. What kind of firing squad gives the condemned a rifle? A cigarette and blindfold, sure, but a rifle? Who do you give a rifle to? The sons of po' folks without connections, sending them to the front to die for Boeing, while you sit back and congratulate each other for "doing something." Let's put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. OK?
  4. Interesting that you cut the quote off at that point. Very convenient for the narrative. Why not include the next sentence? "You know they're all war hawks when they're sitting in Washington in a nice building saying 'oh gee, let's send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy."
  5. Talk about what you want. I thought we were talking about Trump's alleged "threat."
  6. You can't be seriously! Candidate: "We need boots on the ground to defend Latveria!" Heckler: "You first, tough guy! I'll pay for your flight to the front!" Shirley, you don't consider that a threat!!
  7. Currently, and there is no indication this will change, YOU determine which of your remittances are assessable, and YOU determine if you owe tax, and YOU determine if you will file a return. The times I've spoken with TRD staffers, the conversation has gone as indicated in the above post. The term "savings" has never been questioned, and no supporting documentation has been requested.
  8. If that's the best the Harris campaign can come up with, she's getting pathetically desperate. Saying someone who wants to send our boys off to war should lead from the front, in the trenches, is threatening violence? No, it's threatening accountability. Wars are always fun and easy from the safety of your VIP bunker.
  9. No, it's really very simple. Most likely the TRD staffer will ask you why you want to file, as it's apparently a very rare thing for foreign expats to actually pay tax unless running a business here. No papers or documents likely to be requested. You would say "I brought in XXX baht." They'll ask "Salary or Pension?" You say "I brought in savings." They'll say "No need file." Currently YOU determine what (if any) of your remittances are assessable. Currently there are no blanks on the forms for foreign remittances. You would only be entering capital gains or salary (pension probably covered by DTA), if that's what YOU determined that you brought in. There may be updated forms coming before the end of the year. Or there may not. If you have THAI health insurance, the premiums are deductible.
  10. Then you're almost set. You and partner must visit your local TRD office and request to have that number activated for online filing. The local office can NOT do that. They will need to call the provincial office in Korat to have that accomplished. Takes about ten minutes over the phone. If you need assistance call the help line 1161. You can still file returns for 2021-2023 online if you wish. Fast and easy if you have your partner sitting sidesaddle to translate. Check other tax threads on the forum to see what deductions/allowances you qualify for, then you determine which if any of your remittances are assessable. Filing late for 2023 (in my experience) incurs a late filing fee of 200 baht paid online by bank transfer, but you can still claim a refund of interest withholding for 2023. Late returns for 2021 and 2022 did not incur late fees, but no interest tax was refunded. Bank interest letters are not needed to file, 2023 interest was refunded. I got a letter from TRD later asking for the bank letter for 2021 and 2022, uploaded a photo online, but no further requirements. I assume TRD has access to bank tax records for 2023 but not prior years.
  11. Not my decision. The post was regarding foreign expats who wanted a TIN but were denied. Claiming an interest withholding tax refund was a valid reason for a TIN. Refers back to a post asking "And what do those people do who have been refused a TIN? " Would it be worth the trouble of filing returns to get 2000 baht back? Given the tears shed here when beer goes up a baht or two, I would guess yes.
  12. List of Blank Passport Page Requirements by Country Sri Lanka 1 https://www.us-passport-service-guide.com/passport-pages-for-visas.html
  13. To enter Sri Lanka, all foreign visitors must follow the Sri Lanka entry requirements, including possessing a valid passport that remains valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry. It is crucial to ensure that your passport has sufficient blank pages for visa stamps and immigration purposes. https://www.srilankaimmigration.org/news/sri-lanka-entry-requirements-a-comprehensive-guide-for-travelers To enter Sri Lanka, passports should have one blank page and be valid for no less than six months from the date of arrival. https://www.worldtravelguide.net/guides/asia/sri-lanka/passport-visa/
  14. After 28 years, you probably have a pink ID. You use that number to file tax returns, and don't require a separate TIN. You can easily file in person at your local TRD. Take your papers, sit down with a staffer, and they'll fill in the forms for you. Most likely, you won't have enough assessable income, and they'll tell you that you don't need to file. If you prefer to file online, have your partner contact the tax office to have your pink ID activated for the online system. Once setup, you can file online in about 10 minutes. You get additional exemptions and deductions for insurance for a spouse, but not a partner.
  15. Good job, buddy! You've just confirmed her suspicions. Only a poor man would ask for the money back.
  16. That makes no sense. USA, Ukraine and the Tel Aviv nazi apartheid regime are NOT in BRICs.
  17. You bought a ticket TO thailand that has not yet been issued? No, the gate agent won't issue you a boarding pass.
  18. No thanks. You have to pay tax to get that credit refunded. I'll keep my $60,000 tax-free US income instead.
  19. If you have your 800K parked in a fixed account, currently at Bangkok Bank earning 1.6% interest, then you will have 12,800 baht annual interest with 1,920 baht tax withheld. But what's your point? You're earning interest, tax is being withheld from your account. You want it back. The comments regarding this are for those who have been denied a TIN because their local TRD staffer says they don't need one. Even if it's only a hundred baht, it's a valid reason to file a return, thus a valid reason to demand a TIN.
  20. Then you give them a reason for why you need one. You have a bank account, earning interest, with tax withheld. You will file a tax return to get the withheld tax refunded. For that, you need a TIN.....or your pink ID card. Activation of pink ID number was easy....at my particular rural TRD office. Office lady called the provincial office, completed while we waited.
  21. Depends on the TRD office. Some will issue one upon request, some require evidence you need one, and there are reports some outright refuse. There is no requirement to "owe" tax to get a TIN. Do you have a savings or fixed account earning interest, with tax withheld? Explain you need a TIN in order to file a return to have withheld tax refunded. Have you a pink ID?
