  1. You think there might be a corresponding thread on a school administrator forum somewhere that goes something like this? I recently offered a job in my private school to a foreign teacher. No contract signed yet, just a LINE message saying he got the job. He hasn't returned to the school since the interview but we've been communicating about the accommodations and such. Will I get in trouble if I decide to back out before the term starts? I am still waiting for an offer from a more suitable prospect. I am only planning to string him along until I find a replacement candidate. Is it different when the shoe is on the another glove?
  2. Back out of what? No agreement yet, no signed contract. If you know you're not going to accept the position, let them know as soon as possible so they can find another vict, i mean, teacher.

  5. That's for the other threads about the revision to the interpretation of the current law. THIS particular thread is about proposed legislation instituting global taxation. To implement this, an amendment to Section 41 of the Revenue Code is required. The proposed amendment would require individuals residing in Thailand for 180 days or more to pay personal income tax on overseas income, even if that income is not brought into Thailand. Game-changer.

  7. Attempted suicide. Lane splitting at high speed on a highway where bikes are banned. Hopefully the police will catch the bike rider and he can pay for any damage to the car.
  8. Unknown make and model ICE vehicle of unknown age with known malfunctioning battery of unknown origin catches fire? China Bad!© Ya think the security guard was paid off by the CCP agents infiltrated into every Thai bus company to ignore the loud explosion?
  9. Wait, what? Are you saying the Chinese and Russians don't enjoy the unenforced traffic laws, the bribing of immigration officials and the underage prostitutes, as so many of our western expats do? What is the world coming to!
  10. As you wish, buddy. Not a junction as the term is used by most humans, but whatever.
  11. Not a junction, really. It's a U-turn in the median of a highway.
  12. People steal. Thieves have all sorts of tricks to slip things past the POS, and then act indignant at security staff checking for ill-gotten booty. Preventing shrinkage helps keeps costs down. You like low, low prices, right? Simple solution - if you don't like it, shop elsewhere.

  15. No problem, no hassle. Just add another recipient on Wise.
  16. Did you send as monthly expenses or as long-term stay funds? Monthly expenses show up in BKK Bank account in seconds, while long stay funds typically show up the next day between 1-2pm.
  17. That makes sense, assuming most currencies lose 8-9% to the baht every year. How about the years when the baht loses 8-9% against most currencies?
  18. Currently, you declare your assessable income. Unless there's an audit, it seems no documentation required in most instances. Could that change, and TRD will require a (certified?) copy of a home country tax return? Sure, but not likely. Too burdensome on everyone.
  19. Is that a fact! Gosh, I was sure they were doing a pressure test. Maybe the wife mistranslated when the station worker explained. Oh, well. In that case, absolutely no blame can go on the inspectors if they just have to spray some soapy water on the couplings. Looks good!
  20. The entire system may not be accessible. Lines run through bulkheads or are blocked by frame members. They inspect as much as they can, or as much as required. If a spliced connection is installed in a place not visible during a standard inspection, who's ever gonna know? The inspectors are looking at the gas cylinders, the connections, the fittings in the engine compartment. They don't have time to dismantle the bus interior to search for contraband tanks without reason.
  21. I take my Hilux NGV in for testing prior to each annual safety inspection. Seems fairly efficient, takes about an hour with the paperwork. Workers do pressure check and then soap the connections. We get a 3-page document with photos for 500 baht. They can only soap check the accessible connections, they don't/can't trace the entire line under the truck. These buses (may) have documentation showing a legal 6-tank system, so that is what is checked. DIY modifications, with extra hidden lines spliced in and additional tanks hidden throughout the passenger area, wouldn't be tested unless the somehow discovered by the workers. Might even have a 'secret' valve to isolate the illicit part of the system during inspections.
  22. Boeing Successfully Completes First Flight of Thailand’s First AH-6 Little Bird Helicopter First flight? The Unmanned Little Bird demonstrator, which Boeing built from a civilian MD 530F, first flew on September 8, 2004, and made its first autonomous flight (with safety pilot) on October 16, 2004. Hub of pulling stock off the shelf, sticking a "Made in Thailand" sticker on it and shouting "Lookit what we can do!"
  23. Awesome plan! Here's the government proposal!
