  1. He needs 40. Georgia 16 Michigan 15 Wisconsin 10 And that makes 271.
  2. Those we have also, but different head shape and scale pattern.
  3. AP already called California. Totals now at 205:230 https://apnews.com/projects/election-results-2024/
  4. I was just about to grab a couple of flower pots. Snack was hidden under the white saucer to the left, with just the tip of the nose barely showing. My attention was focused on the deadly hypnotoad in the pot.

  6. "We're gonna need a bigger kracken!"
  7. 'bout an hour outside of Korat.
  8. From the linked article: ....only 3 countries in the world taxed based on citizenship rather than residency: Phillipines, Eritrea, and the United States.
  9. Should look at the road, not the map on your phone............
  10. You sure 'bout dat? https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/thailand-tax-treaties
  11. We live on the edge of town, amongst the rice fields. Just behind our rear wall is a government-owned test plot. Usually overgrown with tall grass, or flooded in rainy season.
  12. Wrapped around the base of a flower pot. Bright lime-green. About 1/2 meter length. Triangular head, red-tipped tail. Fangs in front of mouth. Venomous green pit viper?
  13. Most likely would be for immigration to add one more item to the list of requirements when applying for an extension. - Bank guarantee letter - 6-month statement - Tax clearance certificate or prior year return if tax resident based on in/out stamps in passport. Easy for them. No interdepartmental communications or software updates necessary. Just another check box for them to tick off. And a nice earner for the TRD when local officials realize they can charge 500 baht for a free service.
  14. You should be fine. As I understand it, the pink ID number is your tax filing number. It only needs activation for use with the online filing system, paper returns don't require activation.
  15. Easy remedy. Stand up for your rights, man! Refuse to allow the cheeky checkout chick to scan the card. Don't enable her flouting of the rules. Livestream on TikkTokk for added justice.
  16. Well, OK then! The high-speed rail line will be elevated, as will the stations. Same as with almost all urban high-speed rail, as there are NO surface-level road intersections, and no traffic barriers raised/lowered each time the trains pass. I say almost as TIT! Never underestimate local officials capacity to screw things up. You'll see the same in Bangkok with the high-speed rail and the Airport Link and the new red line to Don Muang. Elevated lines and stations. For efficiency and cost savings and space considerations, the lines will be constructed on existing railway ROW when possible. So, yes, the gravel roads you've seen are likely part of the Pattaya high-speed rail. That they've sat there, "settling" as you call it, for years, is simply a testament to corruption and incompetence. They haven't even started building the pylons, and will likely have to reroute for one reason or another before its over. If they had simply contracted the Chinese to build the system, it would already be in operation. Consider the new high-speed rail that runs from Kunming to Vientiane, about 1000 km through difficult terrain, including 59 stations and hundreds of kilometers of tunnels and bridges through the mountains, was built ahead of schedule and under budget, at only $6 billion, which I believe is less than the cost of just the Vientiane to Korat first phase, already years behind schedule................ https://infra.global/projects/kunming-vientiane-railway/
  17. I don't quite understand. You ask how it will run through Pattaya, but previously you posted the route is being prepared. The train line, officially known as the High-Speed Rail Linking Three Airports Project, is expected to be completed by 2029. https://thailand-construction.com/pattaya-to-hold-first-public-hearing-on-3-airport-high-speed-rail-link-project-on-08-may-2023/
  18. Does your local immigration accept term deposit accounts for the 800K? Fixed accounts are usually accepted as you may withdraw funds at any time with loss of accrued interest.
  19. Will you accept a couple photos of the toilets on the platform of the Yangon rail station? Happy dreams!
  20. A great man once said........ " if you are explaining, you are losing."
  21. I'm confused. What exactly does this have to do with alleged "news" services editing quotes and spreading misinformation?
  22. You're actually in third world outhouse heaven. Try a long-distance bus trip in rural China! Imagine being on a 48-trip, eating greasy slop at bus service contracted roadside gas station diners, and feeling the urgent need to visit the facilities. Your only option is a filthy concrete hut with open windows, a 2-meter long trench with no partitions, a water tank on the wall that dumps 20 liters of water into the trench at 20-minute intervals. You walk in, the only foreigner, and try to squeeze into the line of unwashed locals squatting cheek-to-cheek, smoking $1/pack cigarettes, who were intently playing fruit ninja on their cellphones, but now have you as the prime form of entertainment. Halfway through you realize you forgot to bring tissues............ Night market latrines don't sound so bad now, do they?
  23. Your fascination with abortion is irrelevant. Abortion issues are resolved at the state level. The Supreme Court wisely overturned Roe as unconstitutional.
  24. No way is a "high-speed rail" going to be run at surface level through an urban area with street crossings. No way, not even in Thailand! The project calls for 250 km/h intercity, and 160 km/h within cities. Normally, the Chinese.....you know the folks with tens of thousands of kilometers of high speed rail experience......will run the line on pylons through the urban areas, with speeds reduced to 80-90 kmh, with all stations elevated. So, no. The line is NOT going to be at surface level. I'ma bet that's just the result of corruption and delays. What you're seeing is just a temporary gravel access road within the existing railroad ROW to allow for construction of a line of concrete pylons. Completion is still set........currently.........for 2029, meaning sometime in the 2050's.
  25. Seriously? They're running high speed rail thru an urban area at ground level? That figures.
