To answer those questions without mistakes I would have had to take notes, or re-read all the mc threads from say a year ago. Too much for the weak guy haha. Maybe you long-timers here who are used to the jargon don't see it And back on topic I very rarely get irritated in traffic anymore. Maybe when someone with open exhaust ride thru the village at nighttime, but me too did such things 30-40 years ago.

Haha yes trusting google maps in rural thailand can be risky… Another pic from the junction And this stone tells me it`s an 8 km ride on 3035 until 3010 junction Soon 3035 looks like this An old stone with the previous road number Go for Ban Pa Pae = just follow the main road until 3010 T-junction where you turn right. If turn left soon you are out on the crappy 1270. Below 3010.

It`s signposted Ban Tun, and in a village so you won`t miss it. And if you do miss it, just continiue and turn back after some 10 km of very nice road which suddenly turns into dirt. You can continiue on that dirt road too, maybe 2 km of dirt and thru a village and out on 1270, BUT this route (after it turns into dirtroad) is not nice either scenerywise or pavementwise, 1270 have zillions of potholes. Here you turn right if you like well paved looparound roads. Ps. I just spent one week in that corner of mhs loop, driving 300-500 km per day????

Down in Mae Sariang corner there is a nice paved loop, and locals told me they very rarely see any foreigners there… maybe you know but for me it was new territory. Coming from north on 108, turn left into 1266, right into 4006, right again into 3035/5020 towards 3010. Then right into 3010 heading south.

Put lightknobby tires on wife`s beloved MSX floodbike… one oversize, 80 profile instead of 70, which gives exactly 1” bigger wheels. I had to move the front fender upwards a bit more than I first thought. Rides great, soft and sticky, wife very enthusiastic????

I saw you got the CT125 up to 115 km/h true gps speed?? That`s pretty good considering lower gearing and knobby tires????

…and if you are overseas it can wait, if not overdue for years? My wife just paid for one of her old tax-expired bikes, but only one year as untaxed, had to pay interest too. In total not more than 150bt????

From scooters to Harleys???? At the motorshow three weeks ago, the Nightster turned me on somewhat…. Not that big and heavy

Finally brought wife’s old beaten up Grand Filano back to life. New belt and discs, rectifier, fuel pump, new intake bellow, new cylinder and piston. Repaired the electrical harness which was the main cause she gave up the thing years ago… It’s a nice little scooter, great design with under floorboard tank that gives good underseat storage. Range 200-250 km on a tank. Very worthwhile to restore I think. And 30 cm shorter/80 kilo lighter than the Forza 350, which she has a hard time to handle. Next thing I will fit bigger tires, it runs on skinny 70-profile 12” which gives a bloody harsh ride… Let’s see how wide 90 profile 12” I can fit????

On the Forza it’s adjustable while driving. At first Ididn’t think I will use that function that much, but I use it all the time????

Thats the best tool to use from 7 to 10 am, on some big wobbly steel sheets, the day after your neighbour have had a noisy party all night????

I first had the ADV350 on my mind, but didn`t like the small-tablet looking instrument cluster, and mirrors placed on the wide handlebar. On the Forza I really like the adjustable windscreen, the more forward positioned mirrors which also are easily foldable. More easy for pillion rider to look them too. I didn`t test the ADV long enough to evaluate the suspension, but softer than the Forza it surely is! Forza rear is a brutal rock hard rally set-up in stock form????

You found nice tracks yesterday! Have you been up on the mountain north of R118, before the R120 junction? Turn left down in the small town, just a few km before R120. May be hard to find the right way at first. Pics from the mountain temple. I started exploring the smaller tracks from there, enough riding for at least a week, and no risk of tourists????

Very true about in high demand bikes! Dealers want to sell on finance, much more profitable for them. Kickback from bank, and you must buy the ”registration package” too… including theft insurance the first years, among other <deleted>. Could be in the 5000-15000 range for a Forza! And most Forzas I saw was in ugly grey/dark/black, or dull colour schemes… When the average cash buying farang walks in and want to buy, they must cover their losses and mark up the list price. I can understand that! I ended up buying a used bike advertised on fb marketplace, direct from the thai guy who bought new. I checked the bike, wife checked everything else. Very important!

Yes a nice track down to there, at least partly haha. This pic I`m 98% sure is from after just turned right, about 1 km after Ban Khun Chang village junction. Still main track for PCX???? But not very lush, no rain for a long time. And if one don`t turn right, after a few hundred meter a sharp left bend with some views too. I wish I was up north right now!

Good to start small scale after recovering! Nice drivable roads there, many times I drove up on Suthep to escape the heat downtown a few hours. But I think I never left the main tracks on that mountain, too many tourists around and maybe signposted not allowed to ride bike out in the jungle?

The rear suspension is bloody bone-jarring in stock form! Enough damping for two big farangs! This is the absolute top complaint among Forza thai riders now. Just about everyone is into replace the rears with something else… If one want to improve it the right way, get real Ohlins (not identical looking knock-offs). Or YSS ones. Important thing is that they are adjustable in many ways. I am not there yet, I simpy deactivated the right shock absorber (almost no oil inside) and drive with only one functioning now for about 3000 km so far. Only as a temporary test, but the damping from only one is absolutely sufficient for one fat farang haha. And the ride is definitely more comfortabe. The rear suspension height is adjustable via the spring seat, but that do nothing for the ride quality. And only about 1/2” in height. The stock tires seems to be on the hard side too, I will replace them if I can be sure that the replacements are softer. (And grippier) Now I run on lower pressures, both front and rear. Haven`t fully tested out how low I can go yet.

Without a hand operated rear brake, one need two right legs to prevent this if going backwards on a steep slope????

I can`t tell exactly where, since I have not linked the pics to a specific place… Maybe if I scratch my head long enough I can remember some of them. But back then I lived in Chiang Mai, and most of my trips was daytrips so up there somewhere haha.

Me too have very fond memories of PCX riding up on mountan tops! I start with looking at paper maps, both new and old ones. And internet maps too. Sooo many stunning looking mountains I don`t know where to start! Very nice curvy steep uphill paved roads at first, then higher up on mountain turns into even steeper stone-filled dirt trails. Pics from different mountains. And after taking them, the real fun starts! Hours of crawling speed climbing for the poor burnt smelling PCX. In retrospect, its unbelievable that nothing broke on all those trips, not even a flat! But one have to have a sense for when to babying the bike, otherwise it will be a long walk down in the dark. Always pack good shoes and 3 flashlights????

Thank you for a fantastic thread! And now is the perfect time to ride, with the rainy season on its last legs, keeping the smog from the Asian burning culture at bay. The surroundings are still lush and green, very nice driving conditions! Time to take a week or two off from wife and house! But my low-underbelly Forza touring scooter prefer paved roads haha. So far about 1000 km on the Kanchanaburi trip. I just told wife I won`t come back until next week or so????

Yes if the Ctek fails its usually the switch. I brought an older one to thailand 5 years ago, and soon I had to play like crazy with the switch to turn it on. Local TV shop fixed that dirt cheap, still works today????
