single-entry visa extension
GypsyT replied to will23's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Isn't it easier just fly out 'n in and get 45 days every time? AirAsia has cheap tickets. No painful immigration visits... I rather visit farang land. -
Yes - looks like it's higher ???? "A brand new Porsche Cayenne Turbo costs ฿16,950,000 ($520,000)! I'm not looking to buy a Porsche, but that price is outrageous! The poster didn't put an extra zero at all. Additionally, a brand new Lamborghini Gallardo cost ฿21.5million ($664,000) in Thailand. As a comparison, a brand new Porsche Cayenne Turbo in the United States costs $110,400 (฿3.6million). Also a brand new Lamborghini Gallardo cost $180,000 (฿2.8million) in the US. So the Porsche in Thailand is about FIVE times as expensive as the one in the United States, and the Lambo is 3.5 times as expensive. So the price of a Porsche in Bangkok is equivalent to THREE Lambo in Las Vegas...go figure." Above was written by well-off Thai student living in the US and thinking bringing one back to Thailand.. I'm sure the kid knows what he's talking about. Not arguing with anyone but just curious why imported cars are so expensive in Thailand. Is hi tax to protect those who already have them? Same with condos; 51% are empty thanks to stupid quota rule. Let anyone buy. That would lower the price and monthly fees to all.

There are some unique and cool Classic cars in Thailand and Pattaya. Very expensive too, thanks to 3-400% (?) tax. When I return I have to go weekly meetings at German restaurant. I used to have many in the US and built nice business out of my hobby. Anyone have the same "sickness"? https://www.classic-car-friends-pattaya.com/events-2022.html

Looks like they are behind; USD is now stronger than Euro ???? Perfect time to get rid of those Euros....

Vietnam Visa update - big changes
GypsyT replied to La Quenta's topic in Vietnam Visa and Immigration
Finally got an answer from Vn friend (I hope it's correct); It's possible to make many 30-day entries to Phu Quoc, similar to Thailands visa runs. The "30-days between entries" applies only to VISAs. So, that opens up one interesting and very inexpensive place near Th for me ???? -
The worse thing happened, as some here predicted; "Also, Miami is a place where you need to seriously research what you are getting into. There are parts of the city where you don't want to live, structures built before modern hurricane construction codes that are just waiting for a big storm to blow them down, many areas that regularly flood, expensive and difficult to obtain insurance, etc. Edited July 19 by heybruce" I got so excited about Ft Lauderdale cheap condos I didn't think far enough. Thank you guys opening my eyes and made me back off that masket! I could have lost my hard earned $ there... I'm currently in Gran Canaria, Spain, checking market. The weather is 100% perfect year around. As good as I had in California winter time. However, many other things are not as good as in Thailand or in the States.

Vietnam Visa update - big changes
GypsyT replied to La Quenta's topic in Vietnam Visa and Immigration
Time to visit Vietnam again but new visa rules are not clear on this; I get 30-day visa free entry to Phu Quoc island. I want to go there 2 or 3 times in same year to meet my Vn friends (mainland visa free is only 15 days - not enough for me) Is that possible? i don't find answer to that. Anyone knows? I asker Vn friends to find out but it seems they don't want talk to immigration for some reason... Thanks! -
That Arcadia looks nice and it's only 6000thb/mo now. Thanks for the tip! https://tinyurl.com/37e8nhsr

British Thai Embassy has this; Royal Thai Embassy, London สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงลอนดอน " 30-day Visa Exemption Scheme Passport holders of the countries eligible for Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in Thailand Foreigners who enter Thailand under this Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme may only do so for 30 days at one time with a maximum of 3 times in a 6-month period by flight and 2 times a year for overland crossing." So there is a rule.... dep on where you read ???? Same use to be on Oslo, Norway, Thai embassy site but now it's gone! Royal Thai Embassy, Oslo สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงออสโล "2 times a year for overland crossing." No mention on air travel restrictions.

Anyone around Nakhon Pathon? 1.5 hours to BKK by train. Apartments are cheap (I Googled). Land and houses expensive. A lady there claims "it's not hot here". She is... that's why I'm interested in. A friend of mine (European) went to River Kwai and said it is beautiful; rivers, small lakes, green jungle and quiet. 2 nice N'l parks too to take hot lady for swim; https://tinyurl.com/yvu92e5h

I agree, poor web site. They only take $ 3/month but show it twice! Stupid. 1st is; "Monthly renewal". 2nd "Plan recharge Wallet" (what a hell is that?). Both show $ 3/each but as I said, only one $ 3 charge a month. PS. I don't let them have my CC on file. I pay and delete CC number. PPS. I don't trust them neither. They are part of Tmobile. I had Tmobile "PayAsGo". I had $ 135 in to get 12m service between fill ups. Then they changed it to 6m without notifying. I lost my # and $ 135. .

If the original pic had been wider it'd show there WIDE walk way. I walk this area because it's the best for walking, https://tinyurl.com/3zkw56ca Yes, there're parked cars when people go to 7/11 but never a problem thanks to beach side walk way. There's a small parking area too but they take a small fee. Thais won't pay? Otherwise, there is NO PARKING at at all on this street at night which is nice. Join me 4.00am walk when I'm there ???? In general I agree; Thailand streets are built for cars only. Very little, or non, consideration for pedestrians. But it's the price I'm willing to pay to be FREE of BS rules that has ruined other countries.

Thailand’s dangerous road status confirmed – again!
GypsyT replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Americans are quite lousy drivers technically but friendly and understand everybody needs to get in or out. Changing lanes is not a problem. I was driving 46 yrs in LA and no problem. Plus thousands of miles in Western US. Drunk drivers and drug uses may be the biggest problem? I'm very surprised US is so high on the list and don't buy it. In Europe they are damn aggressive! No considerations to any one. It's "me first". Technically they are good drivers and cars are in good condition thanks to yearly safety inspections. No LA style "doorless" cars driven by amigos... -

Thanks for that - didn't know before! http://pattayabus.xyz/roongreuangcoach/ But won't go to Jomtien area. However, great to go to many other cities. I used to go to Bangkok first before.

Maybe it's time to change the stupidest thing and let ANYONE to buy any condos! Now most of Thai-only are undeveloped and empty. It's idiotic to keep up to 51% empty in every condo building. Most Thai people don't like to live in a small box in hi rise building. Why to "protect" them from farang invasion?
-
Thanks, but I checked out that area. Lots of dogs and homeless in bushes... Poor walkways for pedestrians and ugliest condo buildings in Pattaya! That was a surprise because they were built by Scandinavians... And although I'm not a beach person that tiny beach with suicide stairs is a joke. The night market is 80% Russian w Russian prices. Really, didn't see a single good thing for me. But you advice to look for "more modern" design is a good one. Makes sense.

One thing to know is some banks, like mine, can lock up account if they see you are in foreign country and sending or receiving amount is large. That happened to me. That's why I use an old NOKIA 4G GSM phone (no tracking, no location). You still can get a new 4G but be sure it's LTE type so it's usable for few more years. They already got rid of 2 & 3G frequencies. Dual SIM type is best. They are less than $ 50. You need phone with 850 & 1900 for US and 900 & 1800 Europe and rest of the world but they are changing soon. It's a mess... Or, if you use SmartPhone, switch off "Location" and use Firefox browser so there's no tracking.
