GypsyT replied to Jingthing's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
...been sending greenbacks to EU already and will keep in Euros. I noticed Euros were valued high in Thailand and specially in Vietnam last winter. -
Moving out of US - no tax filing, just FBAR
GypsyT replied to GypsyT's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
It may be this; IRS paid my $ 600 Covid payment to "somebody". I didn't get it. They refuse to investigate more or give me receiving person's name, address and account etc info. Maybe they make it good this way? I sure don't want to bother them more.... -

Costco's new idea; Investing in Gold and Silver?
GypsyT replied to GypsyT's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
COSTCOs gold sale are crazy! I went to buy 2-3 bars, here in Utah, but was told "available only in Seattle warehouse". They are making killing on gold! “It’s time to start paying attention” to Costco’s gold sales, which could amount to over $200 million per month, Wells Fargo analysts led by Edward Kelly wrote to clients this week" https://www.forbes.com/sites/dereksaul/2024/04/10/whats-up-with-gold-heres-why-everyone-from-costco-to-central-banks-is-rushing-in/ -
Old topic but new info; https://wherecani.live/safest-places-to-live/#h-the-safest-countries-to-live-in-europe My newfound favorite in Asia, Vietnam (specially Nha Trang), is quite high... And my curiosity grows to visit Okinawa too. Asia; Singapore (Where Can I Live Rank 1) Japan (10) South Korea (21) Malaysia (33) Vietnam (48)

I screwed up my planned trip to Vietnam
GypsyT replied to Furioso's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
By flying BKK-PQC direct on VietJetAir. Check out SkyScanner. -
This sounds good. Is anyone doing this? "IRS Form 8938 You must file IRS Form 8938, Statement of Specified Foreign Financial Assets, with your income tax return if: you had $50,000 in a foreign account on the last day of the year, or you had more than $75,000 in such an account at any point during the year. For married couples filing jointly (as almost all do), these thresholds are increased to $100,000 and $150,000, respectively. If you live abroad, the thresholds are greater: $200,000 at the end of the year or $300,000 at any time; $400,000 and $600,000 if you're married and file jointly. I got 7 accounts in 5 countries. Every one must be reported. All that would be history. $ 200 000 a year would be more than enough. I'd continue to keep most in the US. Then, only simple FBAR to do. PS. Since my SSA pension is small no Fed nor state reporting. I get very good interest income but, what ever the reason, no tax so far! No, I don't go and ask....

I screwed up my planned trip to Vietnam
GypsyT replied to Furioso's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
You went to wrong part of Vietnam.... Go to Phu Quoc Island - no visa. PS. Sorry your trip went south... Make an other one. -
I found this interesting. I didn't realize how bad my old "Golden State" has gone; "The median cost of a California house was nearly $800,000 in November, more than double the $336,000 you’d pay in Texas, according to Redfin housing market data. In neighboring Arizona and Nevada, it was $435,000 and $479,000, respectively. These are destination states for departing Californians." Link; https://www.yahoo.com/news/why-californians-fleeing-once-golden-100055244.html It makes me sad.... I had my best years there and made my money there. I still like CA a lot and most of my friends are there. I hope to return if housing etc will improve.

Flights To US Seat selection
GypsyT replied to charleskerins's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
I flew JAL Saigon - Narita - SFO - Las Vegas on cheapest ticket, $ 637 one way, and got to select seats for free. Food (cold and tasteless Vietnamese pork) was lousy on the first leg. Otherwise very good trip. Will do it again. -
E-Visa extended to 3 months starting 15 August
GypsyT replied to freeman01's topic in Vietnam Visa and Immigration
My Vietnam friend is monitoring eVISA rules and what's going on and recently she reported "many Americans are coming in with 3 mo visas". Maybe rules are relaxing and system gets easy to use - finally. If I were in Asia I'd test drive the rules but I'm back to the US. https://www.vietnam-visa.com/guide/united-states/ -
Designer of the e-visa website appears to be insane
GypsyT replied to HermesHermes's topic in Vietnam Visa and Immigration
Just relax and use the latest one. I've visited with 3 different passports, even had a name change, but "forgot".... and used the latest one. No problem. No photos, no finger prints like in paranoid Thailand. BTW - they are relaxing on 3 mo visa rules. There are many fresh reports anyone can use "business visa", single or multi entry, for vacations. They want money! Some links; https://www.vietnamvisa-easy.com/vietnam-tourist-visa/vietnam-tourist-visa-for-3-months https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/trang-chu-ttdt- 1 reply

Used English language books: where to donate in Pattaya?
GypsyT replied to AsiaCheese's topic in Pattaya
I donate my books to B&B House, Dongtan beach. They have racks in all 3 floors. Now they know me and I can go and pick up / exchange books even when I don't stay there. They are cool and good people! -
Lima is primitive and women not very pretty. However, they do love sex and are very good at it. Anal and oral action between men and women were most popular among "Moche culture". They were smart - no babies! When I was there in late '80s I saw Moche Art exhibition at Mira Flores Sheraton. It was 90% of Erotic Art and lady curator was very willing to tell all about Moche sex habits. Very enjoyable and interesting education! Peruvian food is best! https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&sca_esv=1d77d30c05e3b912&q=peruvian+moche+sex+habits&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjQwMiqie2EAxX4PUQIHVtWDU0Q0pQJegQIChAB&biw=1263&bih=581&dpr=1.5 PS. Chile in other hand can be attractive if you got EU health insurance. It is honored in Chile!

That's a good start. Forger England for now. Spend a month in Thailand together and then maybe an other in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. It's way easier and cheaper that way to get to know each other. Regarding debt; Thai chicks often have no clue how loans and banking works. They trust blindly and get cheated by "penalties" and other fees. Sounds like she suspect something's not correct. "Financial reconciliation is the accounting process by which two different data sets are compared to verify that the information within them is accurate." Remember this; Beautiful young Thai women who date us old men are not the the sharpest tool in the shed... you gotta give them some extra rope. Show some love and just pay of the loan without any future requirements to get your money back. If she pays, fine, if not suck it up and be quiet. I did that, paid of 350 000THB car loan and 8000THB "late fees", after sharks were getting aggressive and threatened to confiscate her new CR-V. She loves her new car and it clearly is very important to her self esteem. I doubt she ever pays me but that's OK. She drove me to everywhere and probably do so in the future too. We are not dating any more but are good friends. Good friends are hard to find. One night stands are easy...

The company is selling 25-count tubes of 1 oz. Canada Maple Leaf Silver Coins online for $675. The front of the coins features a maple leaf, and King Charles III is on the back. The coins are non-refundable, and members can purchase a maximum of five. Costco is trying to replicate its recent success with gold bars. It began selling $2,000 gold bars online in September and sold more than $100 million worth of the bars last quarter. What do you think? Smart or not? How easy to sell in future? And to who to sell if in hurry? https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/why-costco-selling-gold-bars-173244588.html

I want to be around to see what happens. I'll be in New Zealand's highest hill overlooking the sea. Lot of fresh wind will thin out nukes. I'll eat lamb chops and live deep down in earth cave with Kiwi girl friend(s). They are very nice and know what man wants... got taste of few in London's Kensington Hotel in early '80s. They were starving students working part time there as night clerks and said; "If you pay cash we give you better room and later come to see you are comfortable". Who can turn down such an offer? Not me! Yes - they were nice!
