Mike, your constant obsession with Trump is very unhealthy. Stick with your complaints regarding high tariffs on imported wine.- 100 replies

Tourism Thai Hotels Brace for US Tariff Impact Amid Slow Tourist Recovery
BayArea replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I mentioned in another post that the most likely returnees to Thailand these days are the mongers and European snow birds. Thailand has been the hub of cheap shopping for a long time so they will continued to draw nearby Asian neighbors who make frequent shopping runs. Thailand is now facing stiff competition from Viet Nam. Malaysia and Japan. Those countries are mainly getting tourists that are back packers, single travelers, family and couples with money. They are not getting the overstayed Russians or visa free low budget Indians along with the African scammers and prostitutes. Ask yourself, why you don't really hear anything negative regarding the tourism sector in those countries?? Cambodia and Philippines are also benefitting from Thailand's downturn. -

The irony in your reply is that you accuse me of being a pedant, but you went out of your way to nitpick my post. So rather than have a fruitful discussion on the racial makeup of Thai people, you decided the easy route with a jibe. -
Economy Vietnam Tourism Threat Looms: Could It Overtake Thailand?
BayArea replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
the return rate for LOS is higher due to all the males going back for cheap sex and all the tourists from mainly 3rd world countries for the knock offs. I'll add the snow birds from Europe on that list as well. Viet Nam is better off in the long run without the mass, over tourism that has plague Thailand and all with it the pitfalls that come with it. -

my Thai wife eats more Viet food these days than Thai. if she's craving for her native cuisine, she makes it at home. her complaint on Thai restaurants is they don't have the authentic flavoring she's accustomed to which I understand since ingredients are not exactly the same as back home. -

Not starting an argument, but no Thai is pure. They have either Lao (Northern Thailand) Malay (Southern Thailand), Khmer (southeast Thailand) or Chinese (Central/ Bangkok) mixed with Tai/ Kadai (Northern Viet Nam and Southern China)) admixture. And if she's from Buri Ram, she most likely has Khmer blood too. My Thai wife is Thai from her mother side and Lao and Chinese from her father side.
