  1. Gotta love it: Hannibel Season 3 Trailer just out: Bride of Hannibel

Season 3 will start in a few weeks, and looks like a fun ride for we Hannibel lovers:

Never really got into it and gave up after the first episodes. But throwing in Gillian Anderson is probably the most malicious approach to lure someone into a trap (or into a show, to be precise). Alright then, I give up, I'll watch it (her).

  2. BBC's 'The Game' is a cold war thriller set in 1972. The 2 episodes that I've seen so far arent bad...

Summary: In 1972, The head of MI5 (Brian Cox) sets up a secret committee that includes interrogator Joe Lambe (Tom Hughes), Bobby Waterhouse (Paul Ritter), detective Jim Fenchurch (Shaun Dooley) and secretary Wendy Straw (Chloe Pirrie), Sarah Montag (Victoria Hamilton), and her husband Alan (Jonathan Aris), to locate sleeper agents for the Soviets in this six-part British miniseries written by Toby Whithouse.

I liked it very much. I think, the 70s-cold war-atmosphere was caught rather well. And I was definitely surprised by the ending, did not see that coming.

It first aired on BBC America last year and I am still hoping for a second season. But no word from the BBC, yet. Maybe, after the show is completely broadcast in the UK.

  3. Watched the first episode of the British crime drama No Offense. Do not know what to make out of it. So far, I think it is just average.

A detective constable finds out that two missing girls who were found dead over some time may not have died by natural courses. Their deaths indicate a pattern. And so the hunt for the serial killer begins. The three main characters are female by the way.

Annoyingly, I have trouble adjusting to this kind of British accent (alright, that's probably just me). If I am really bored, I might watch the second episode.

  4. I was pleasantly surprised to read that American Crime was renewed for a second season (still one more episode to go in season 1).

Compared to many other crime shows I think this one is clearly above average. And while most of the time it seemed rather unimportant who actually committed the murder I am now slowly starting to wonder...

Looking forward to the next season.

  5. I enjoy it as well, but I'm glad that I had finished Season One by the time I read this.

Here's a spoiler: Monica is even hotter in Season Two.

    Silicon Valley is Back!

Season 2 is on now, and some new cast members and situations are making this show funnier than ever. I have to hit pause a lot when I'm watching this just to have an uncontrollable laughing fit. Then roll it back to hear it again. Venture Capitalist Peter Gregory has passed away, and the lady who takes his place is even more painfully up tight than he was. Guilfoyle and Dinesh are still ranking on each other all day long, and now Dinesh's cousin comes on the scene, with his Kickstarter-funded "Killer App", called "Bro."

Might not be everybody's cuppa tea, but it's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen, as it lampoons the whole "Digital Age," and all of the would-be high flyers, trying to cash in.

TEN, and Super Bro's all around!

That's a high quality spoiler. Totally acceptable!

  6. Interstellar ..... total pants, the whole plot rested on a guy in a spacesuit being able to walk faster than someone in a jet.

Many more plot holes a mile wide.

How anyone can make a movie as bad as this is completely beyond me, the director must have been on drugs the whole time.

I finally caught up with this last night. A few plot holes, but overall i enjoyed it. Not too bad at all.

And I thought Craig was rather good when quoting a post from January. But quoting a post from last year... that is something! smile.png

You can search within a topic for key words. Use the drop down menu next to the search box and select 'This topic'

Are you telling me that you actually did not memorize every single post that has ever been made on this forum???

Tried the search function, but obviously, I am not good with the keywords. biggrin.png

  8. Daredevil on Netflix. Was just released (season 1) on April 10th

    Looking forward to this one

I'm currently at episode 6 of Daredevil and I find it surprisingly good.

The fistfights against people with guns get a bit tiring but the brutality and the returning shocks of violence really keep me awake (they are at the limit of what I think a comic-film should show, though). Interesting how they picture the bad guy, I mean the real nasty high-end one, not the many sadistic murderous ordinary bad guys that live in "Hellskitchen". And I like that it is not just individual cases lined up and solved but instead one storyline with each episode showing more of the whole picture.

I must admit, with this show I got more than I expected, but in a good way.

  9. Tv series - Happyish

Being a big Steve Coogan fan, I was really looking forward to this one.

Unfortunately, it was a let down. I didn't find it amusing and or clever at all.

Having said that, I will give episode two a crack to see if it improves.

IMDB: On his birthday, Thom Payne gets the gift of insignificance and also a new boss. He suspects his ED pills are interfering with his anti-depressants, leaving him with neither happiness nor... happiness. In a culture that reveres youth - a culture he helped create - Thom needs to figure out what his purpose is now that he's halfway to death and nobody cares what he thinks. Because in a world where any Kardashian is trending up, perhaps the wise among us would heartily embrace trending down.

Completely agreed. The first episode was somehow disappointing. But for me, episodes 2 and 3 made good for the weak start. Liked that they gave his wife the lead for the second episode. She did great when "talking" to her mother. The show might not be a comedy-supernova but I really enjoyed the two last episodes. If they continue on that level, I'm happy(ish).

  10. A new Brit four part drama started last night called Safe House.

    First episode so so.

Sad to see Indian Summers has finished, but hope they will do a second series. Which i think they will, the way it finished.

Will watch the last episode of Indian Summers tonight and looking forward to it.

BTW: The show is already renewed for season 2. No doubt, I will continue watching.

  11. Watched the first episode of The Comedians (an old and a young comedian are forced to work together to meet the needs of a TV-station and a broader audience). To be honest, I expected a bit more but I believe the show has potential and it can develop. Actually, I really hope that it does. I like them both Billy Chrystal and Josh Gad. May be, I just have to get used to the reality show style. It worked with "The Thick of It", why not here?

  12. I am floored to learn that Better Call Saul, as of the end of episode 10, which I just watched last night, is done for the season. The pace has been leisurely, to be sure. Guess I'll binge watch all 10 again and see what subtle touches I missed on first viewing.

Sad to see Justified ending. I hope Boyd gets to get away clean with Ava.

When is Ray Donovan coming back?

The first episode of the latest Mad Men was very well done. What an epic that has been.

I haven't seen BCS as yet so will have to give it a crack.

The date speculated for Ray Ray's return is July.

I hope Boyd get's away with or without Ava.

Sorry, cannot agree with the last one. It must be WITH Ava. I adore this woman. High heels and shot gun when necessary. She seems to have a tendency to fall for the wrong men, though. Well, forgivable I'd say...

  13. The point eludes you. Land distribution does not require Article 44. It simply requires that the current legal system is enforced and any fair claim goes through the system. In 1900s the UK pushed through land re-distribution laws, in the 1890s New Zealand did the same. Neither required draconian laws. Many nations have done this.

And to the latter? Perhaps you missed the two threats to execute journalists?

Once again, this is utterly irrelevant. What has been done in one action doesn't define or limit Art. 44. Of course in another newspaper (which we can't quote) we now have the regime's spokesperson saying that they will now stay in power as long as is "needed".

Frankly, if you think any of this is being done for the benefit of the Thai people - politely - you're batty.

Of course it's relevant. You lot keep harping on about the bad things that it could be used for while missing the good things that it IS being used for.. Of course it can STILL be used as an oppressive measure BUT so far no evidence of that... Is there?

There is this saying for that in Germany (used ironically to make a point):

But the Führer built the Autobahn...

  14. If I was Don Draper, I would definitely do the same things that he does (and more, but with fewer emotions). smile.png Obviously the second half of the final season of Mad Men has started and like before, no really spectacular things happen but everything is executed so well that I don't want to stop watching. I really do hope that they find a happy ending for the characters. I particularly do not want Draper to be disassembled until he looks like a total looser. Nowadays, I am afraid that something like that could actually happen on TV. Well, currently he is on top of his game (the diner!), please, let him stay that way.

  15. German politicians have higher morals, ethics and integrity than Thai politicians.

They weren't born that way. It's because the German electorate holds its politicians to a higher standard, and will punish them severely for falling below that standard. Any party that fielded candidates like Suthep or Chalerm would be unelectable, no matter how appealing its policies were. But for some reason the Thai electorate seems to accept whatever rubbish is thrown at them - by all sides.

Furthermore, there is a police and public prosecutors who are well educated, paid a fair salary and who are bound by law to investigate any crime that they become aware of (no way around it, otherwise they commit a crime themselves). These investigations meet judges, who are well educated and are paid a fair salary in a rule of law system that deserves the name (independent judges coming into office through a fair vetting system, appeal system).

And then, off course, there is freedom of speech and particularly the freedom of the media that will cover a corrupt politician in printing ink, so they are not electable anymore.

Noble German Politicians? Well, in general yes, because they have to! The voting system that brings them into parliament has little to do with it.

  16. It's snuggle-time! The Dove-Keepers is the story of the Masada Siege through the eyes of the two surviving women. I made it through the first half of the first part (a CBS two-part film). It is amazing how much time these women had for romance and adultery in a rather shitty (sorry) environment. Very few battle scenes. The 10th Legion looked good, though. I vaguely remember the film from the 80s with Peter O'Toole. I think that would be a decent alternative to this TV-romance.

  17. Saw the first episode of season 7 of Nurse Jackie. While some people might not like the show I must admit that I really enjoyed it over all 6 seasons (even with Edie Falco with short hair, but I guess they had to do that, so she was not perceived as Ms. Soprano). Now with season 7 the mess continues and I find it great.

"Flawed characters" are very fancy these days but what they did with Nurse Jackie is way beyond "flawed". Now she is so messed up that I do not feel for her anymore, but more for the characters around her who constantly suffer from her lying and cheating. She will probably drag down some people into the gutter she obviously wants to live in. And even if she somehow manages to stage a comeback, her means will probably be anything but honest and serious. Looking forward to it!

  18. Today I happened to notice the user votes (they appear just above the name of this thread) jumped from 8 to 14 in a few days. The additional votes all must have been one star as the overall vote dropped down.

Creating new user names to vote 1 star on a thread is remarkably petty. I'm not sure what it achieves for the member in any way, but kind of sad the person responsible feels compelled to do so.

Noticed that, too. Wondering what makes this thread so despicable?????? Competition????
