  1. You cared enough to butt-in and answer a question I specifically asked of another member. But of course, your knowledge is... Stroll on. Oddly enough, last year while working on my 'weak' knowledge of WRlife, I asked a broker about them. He said he wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. When I asked why, he said, "Google is your friend". You too, eh? Stroll on, I mean.
  2. They won't. My experience with two unlicensed fourteen-year-olds on an unregistered scooter with no lights running a red light and t-boning Mrs NL at a 4-way. Once they assessed the net worth(lessness) of the victims, the insurance company didn't chase anyone but the assessor handling the case was dragging his feet, thus allowing the family of the girls to try and get the police to shake my wife down. I complained to the insurance broker, who then spoke with the insurance company. Two days later, they replaced the assessor with one who was more proactive, less in awe of the cops and unfazed by the family's histrionics. Once the police issued a no-fault finding against my wife, the insurance company focused on getting her car repaired as quickly as possible. The insurance premium didn't change on renewal, and the no-claims bonus stayed intact. I'm sure that's not a unique happenstance. With 80% of road traffic accidents in Thailand probably involving mostly uninsured, underage and unlicensed riders on unregistered bikes, the insurance companies realize that eating such charges is a part of doing business in Thailand. It's factored into their business model and base premiums.
  3. It doesn't make any difference if they were uninsured, underage, going the wrong way without lights on an unregistered scooter that doesn't belong to either of them. It's not cynicism, it's reality. This is Thailand.
  4. If you tell us where the banks and brnaches that refused your application and what Amphur the yellow book application will be filed, members with experience may be able to tell you a better bank branch option or if the Amphur will even issue the yellow book. Some are easy, others bugger you about, while a fair few will say it's impossible.
  5. With school holidays and Songkran looming, the kids have a hankering for "the beach" last seen before Covid when we did Hua Hin for a week. We've done Pattaya/Jomtien (lived there too) and also Mae Phim, down along Rayong coast as far as Chantaburi but not as far as Trat. Done none of the islands down that way either, but a friend made a recommendation for Koh Mak. Done Samet, Samui and Phuket (no longer interested in the spendy islands) but not Krabi (again recommended but by an older couple with no kids). So, anything nice on the sunrise side of the Gulf, south of Hua Hin and Cha-Am? Prachuap or Chumphon have any nice 'hideaway' type places. Maybe go down as far as Surat Thani? We're in Udon so would plan of flying to Bangkok and renting wheels. Not up for long-assed drives any more, especially on Issan highways I've driven dozens of times already. Personally, I want to take the clan to Vietnam and Cam Ranh/Nah Trang since there's non-stops from DMK, but the appeal of Songkran is still strong in teenagers, so I may get vetoed on that call. Thanks for reading and looking forward to some advice from them what lives down that way.
  6. Thanks for that. Where is the "pile of reviews"?
  7. You think their financials look sound? who is their regulator? if you wanted to take them to court where would that be? I didn't ask your opinion on their legitimacy, thanks. I asked @BestB if he knows if WRlife have bottled on any claims?
  8. Insert bwah-hah-hah-hah-hah emoji [here]
  9. Are you new here or what?
  10. This just in... some folks use teaching in Thailand as the legal workaround for being allowed to stay here long term and pursue their real interests that are unrelated to education.
  11. That's a prime location in Pattaya Central. ... Yup, central-south Pattaya. Interested?
  12. And one man's 10 may be another man's ladyboy. I did, but I didn't.
  13. Citation please. Otherwise, you're just making that up.
  14. Without reading the whole thread, WRlife have done that? Denied a claim that they previously said would be covered? If that is the case, can post a link to that particular post or comment if that's handy?
  15. Thanks Dr! With school holidays and a couple of overseas trips during April-June, I didn't want to shoehorn getting a new 1-year MENO into the mix.
  16. It's always a Damien isn't it? Or a Darren.
  17. If I enter Thailand just before my 1-year, multi-entry Non-O expires, I get a 90-day permission to stay. Am I eligible to get a re-entry permit on that 90-day permission so that I can depart and return during those 90-days? Or is the 90-day permission dead if I leave, same as the visa? Thanks, NL
  18. In correction, Villa staff outnumber the number of farang customers who, if you wait long enough, can be spotted among the more numerous and free-spending local Thai and Asian tourist customers. And this is Udon Thani.
  19. Since the what has gone? You think they had special English shelf restocking courses and how to leave trolleys stuffed full of folded up empty cartons blocking cross-aisles? English customer service training on not bothering to collect the empty plastic shopping baskets from the check-outs and putting them back where they're needed. The English ergonomics specialists who deemed that shopping cart pickup should be placed in the middle of the building so you need to walk past the entrance to get one before turning around and walking back to actually enter the store? Tesco was abysmal before it became Lotus's. Big C rocks!
  20. I have my oldest lad's passport renewal and the youngest lad's first time passport application to do in March. We're in Isaan and this does sound like a better alternative to the Bangkok trip. What's the weather like in March?
  21. Hope it's a lot less when you have to renew again in 9 years time.
  22. I bet you think that's true as well. Voting Reform, are we?
  23. Indeed, it's shocking. Especially when there's no such entity as the "English police".
