  1. When I applied for new passport in UK to travel to Auz, the courier they used to deliver it put it through a letter box a mile away from my house! Luckily the homeowner knew me and delivered it to me. This was meant to be a signed for service, but the <deleted> courier just put it through his door and didn’t even try to get a signature. I was luck because I was flying the next day. It took 9 weeks to process. Bunch of incompetent <deleted>. ????
  2. Look closer and you can see the ice granules, typical of prolonged hail freezing together into lumps.
  3. Showing the bill to the patient will cure the urge to laugh. Does crying break new stitches?
  4. Contact a Yabba pill maker, I’m sure they’d knock some pills up for you on the night shift. ????
  5. Unless there was a legal contract between him and her that she would buy a house, then it was a gift. Also he can’t own land Thailand, so best forget getting money back.
  6. A bit like the so called “illegal restaurants built on stilts” near The Hilton, that the city council have been saying for 3 decades should be removed. They are still there and their toilets empty straight onto the beach area. <deleted> city in all of that area. ????
  7. There is another run off near the pier that flows black at times???? We have a beach house, but it is well North of there, about 400 meters south of the Palace and never had any problems with sewage or foul smells, probably because their is no way for it to run from Naebkehardt road across our gardens to the sea.
  8. Retired at 47 from a very highly paid job with a multinational company and to be honest I wasn’t really giving a <deleted> from when I was 42. We don’t mix with negative people, we enjoy the friendships we have and our family. Personally I steer clear of people who seem to constantly moan about their lives, they made their choices and are paying for it now, I made other, better choices and have the ability to kick these people into touch without GAF.
  9. Yes been there a dozen times to eat with inlaws and the rest of the wife’s family. My wife actually bought a new 7 seat Isuzu Adventure Master car there once???? I’ve also been allowed to buy shorts and T shirts from there occasionally. ????
  10. There was a similar case where radioactive materials actually (the size of your little finger) fell off the back of a lorry that was transporting it across Australia a few weeks ago. The area of the search was huge, but eventually the search party found it a few meters from the side of the road. ????
  11. Wasn’t it down to the fact SVB ignored history and got too deep in the bond markets which were backed by mortgages. Whatever it was, deposits are pretty safe for those with accounts in those banks.
  12. And don’t forget to update your bank account either the same day you apply or the day before and get letter from bank confirming you have xxxxBaht in account.
  13. God no! But I do enjoy Christmas with my little son. ????
  14. Used to fly HUA HIN to DON MUANG and return after 2 days each month to visit inlaws. I think it was Air Asia. Cheap and efficient and could be in their house an hour after takeoff. If I remember it was 1400 Baht return.
  15. A bit different as my wife travels to Thailand with our son (both have Thai/British citizenship and dual passports) both have same surname and I have to provide a letter that I consent to him travelling out of the country, which she can show if requested. Including a copy of his birth certificate etc. Details in the Government website below. Once we forget and she was questioned at airport and almost didn’t make her flight. ???? https://www.gov.uk/permission-take-child-abroad#:~:text=The letter should include the,is different from the child's
  16. My wife and son are both dual nationals and every time they go back to Thailand I always book good quality travel insurance on the same day I book their flights to Thailand. Yes they are eligible for Thai health care, but for £250 or so I can be sure they are well covered in the event of an accident. Also, she is Thai and knows just how dangerous motorcycles are and wouldn’t dream of riding one. I very much doubt that given how serious his condition is that anyone would Medivac the guy even if they came up with the money. Someone posted the cost would be £32k which I very much doubt. Double that and add a few £k and you may get somewhere near the true costs which sadly his family cannot afford. The medical tests carried out suggest he is pretty much brain dead, so perhaps it would be better to just have palliative care in Thailand, as it seems he is never going to emerge from his coma. Even contemplating flying him back to the UK is IMHO stupid, instead, how about flying a couple of his closest family members to Thailand, where they could stay in a hotel close by to be by his side as the inevitable decline happens. That scenario has surely got to be much more affordable and safer for him.
  17. Would any airline or Medivac company carry him if he’s in a coma? In that state it would be extremely dangerous to move him out of a hospital where there is all the medical equipment and specialists doctors and anaesthetists available to keep him alive if things deteriorate quickly. 36,000 feet in the air, on a 12 hour flight would be the last place I’d want to be if I was in his condition and my life depended on the medical care only available in a hospital.
  18. And every “friend” is vying to be a proctologist. ????
  19. Yes these machines are so dangerous for swimmers. Luckily our beach house in Hua Hin is in the restricted area by the palace, so no boats of any description were allowed because the Navy patrolled the water and police patrolled the beach and we could enjoy safe swimming without idiots on jet skis ruining it for us. Even fishing from the beach wasn’t allowed.
  20. I suspect that Samsung could find a compatible compressor in 5 minutes if they were pushed. It’s not as though the freezer model you have is the only one Samsung produce and many compressors fit many models.
  21. Standing on balconies in Thailand will soon be added to the list of dangerous sports/pass times on insurance policies. Do Thai hospitals take routine blood tests for alcohol consumption from patients admitted for emergency care, I doubt it. So how can an insurance company know anyone had imbibed?
  22. There’s a huge difference between a “proper grounding rod” and an earthing ground rod that works. Ground rods are notoriously difficult to get to work correctly and unless he had the proper test equipment to confirm it’s working correctly, then I very much doubt it’s working correctly. What surprises me the most is that here we are in 2023 and you’re installing an EV Box that requires a Earth rod. All EV wall boxes here in UK are now required to have built in protective systems which negate the use of an earth rod. Thats Thailand for you, years behind the first world countries electrical regulations. ????
  23. Just insured my wife and son both hold duel Thai/UK Nationality) for their month long trip to Thailand and it cost £105 to cover both, but it doesn’t cover dangerous sports nor riding a motorcycle. Yes they are both covered under their Thai nationality, but even then she would never ride a motorcycle in Thailand.
  24. Had same problem here in UK 15 years ago. Terrible pain in right abdomen, doc pressed on area and caused a lot more pain, so declared it was apendix which needed to come out ASAP. Came too and was told appendix was fine, but they took it out anyway. Turned out it was an inflamed kidney, which they treated with drugs and stuck a antibiotic suppository up my ass during the operation, which I was allergic too. In hospital for 3 weeks. ???? Apparently kidney paid can show same symptoms as appendicitis.
  25. I use my mobile phone camera against a light grey background, then upload it to one of the many free sites on the internet, adjust to the required size and press go. Download the finished pictures file and print it off. Never failed yet for multiple passport pictures. Australian passport pictures are 350x450 pixels.
