  1. And yet there is no age restriction to MUFG's app (in Japan).
  2. Depending on what Krungsri say by the end of June regarding app usage, (as advised by my relationship manager), I am going to remove my THB800K deposits (mine) and THB800K (my partner's) from Krungsri to another bank that allows geriatrics to operate a savings account with an app. I wonder if my other app & Online account will be discontinued after 70 too. (Currently the KrungsriBiz Online does not have the same message as the Krungsri Online, about closure of the Online service.)
  3. "you need to cancel your Krungsri-on-Line first because you can't have your mobile app registered whilst still registered for online banking". I have Online Banking for my KrugsriBiz Online and the app, so that argument seems like total BS. (I have KungsriBiz because about 3 years ago they said we couldn't have a joint account, which we've had for over 10 years. All accounts overseas are all joint accounts. Banking here is truly in the dark ages.) The less smart answer is that this notice from Krungsri came to some after they reached 70 years old, and were afforded Online Banking, now being summarily withdrawn. That is very disappointing news indeed, and completely ridiculous. It leaves the only option to a 70 year old of finding out their balance by either wasting a great deal of time dialling 1572 or going to an ATM to update a passbook, or to a branch to ask a teller to inform them of the balance, or to do a transaction. Hardly conducive to aging.
  4. Thanks. It really is a custardtruck. I received another email last night from Krungsri digicare telling me that I had to go back to the branch that couldn't help me in person, after I sent them the "screenshots" of the failed registration, which they requested. Anytime I have had to go into Krungsri for the simplest task it takes an inordinate amount of time to accomplish what should be the easiest procedure, including my annual bank letter for Immigration etc. (You now cannot preorder it from your branch, but only at the branch, and last time I think it took 1 hour.) The accounts I use with Online Banking have the IMM monies, and if it wasn't for the potential for a screw up, I would transfer the money to another bank. Anyway, I shall wait until there is further clarification, (from you) and from the bank by the end of June, and if that is unsatisfactory, I will go in and express a few words that I might regret.
  5. One wonders if that breaks the law - age discrimination. The bank can of course make up its own rules and requirements, but whether they are against Thai law is another thing. Of course laws and rules thereof are a bit of a non thing in Thailand.
  6. I received another auto reply, but now have an actual person responding, asking me to provide a screenshot of the failed registration, (of course screenshots are not permitted on banking apps), but I took a photo with another camera and sent it to them. It's hardly going to tell them anything that I haven't explained, or the Krungsri clerk experienced yesterday, before she gave up, (whilst trying to get through to Krungsri's help line, to no avail). The standard of banking is seriously pathetic.
  7. I went to this site: https://www.krungsri.com/en/support/contact-us/thankyou-contactus And told them of my experience trying register at their branch. They (auto?) responded: So I have replied that they obviously did not read my issue or did not understand it, as I had gone to a branch that clearly could not register on my behalf. (Zueligg House was the branch I went to.) I suggest you send a similar request to them, and maybe somebody will wake up there and address the issue. If you don't wish to complete the form just email them at: digicarecenter(AT)rungsri.com
  8. I had the correct passport (also newish), which was registered at the bank when I got it, so that wasn't a issue.
  9. Yes, I had a similar response from the clerk, and my response to that was the same as yours. The clerk only suggested it as a reason, so the lack of anything definitive made me hesitate. It seems remarkable that they should be so uncoordinated about how to fulfill their notice. Well, maybe not that remarkable here. (I also cannot imagine why you can't have both online and an app, but I think they haven't thought this one through yet.)
  10. No she didn't, but I contacted my relationship manager and explained what had happened, and she advised me: So I will wait accordingly. I did point out that the message in red on the Krungsri Online Banking page was therefore inaccurate and they ought to perhaps change it, so that people like you and me don't have to waste our time trying to register now, which the notice infers,
  11. In response to their notice that Online Banking will cease on 1 October 2025, I downloaded the app and because it informed me I had to go to any branch to register, did just that. Took passport and the clerk tried several times to register me, but Registration Failed on every occasion. She asked whether I had more than 1 SIM, whether my account was registered using another SIM, another form of ID, to which the answer is "no". Very sorry. She also thought that if I had Online Banking, the app could not be registered, but I have no idea whether that line was based on anything. So clearly there is something remiss with this registration malarkey.
  12. Why not download the TraffyFondue app and report it (in ENG or THA) to BMA with narrative & pictures. They respond very quickly. Whether they do anything about it speedily is yet to be seen. I have used it recently for crapped up pavements, (made by BMA) during a questionable initiative to make them more user friendly, (which they are now obviously not), as the workmen assigned to the task dig it up, (often in the wrong places) and reinstate it with cement laid by a child, or a gaping hole, or a pile of concrete rubble are clearly not supervised, or following a plan, if ever there was one. Once you download the app, it gives you this LINE and you add your name and complete your issue in the brown box at the extreme right.
  13. And it may provide the military the screen they need to remove a government in their well-worn fashion. And the rest, which only became "inconvenient" because it affected Chinese, and burst the Chinese tourist balloon.
  14. Not disputing that. He does need due process, which he was denied.
  15. Exactly. The new indictment is pretty thin, despite Bondi's attempt to paint it as people trafficking, or trafficking children (remind you of anyone, Epstein etc)?...which is taking a mighty long time to declassify because it might include a large role played by one Donald Taco Trump.
  16. Well, 33.4% of the electorate. A bit like the US electorate: the majority didn't vote for either candidate, (Harris or Trump). The lack of interest in voting is indeed a choice, but rather a sad one when the the consequences are there for all to see. Although " [democracy] is the worst form of government" is attributed to Churchill, he said:
  17. Ok good. That presumably saves time if there's a queue at IMM. Normally I travel using Fast Track, but last time I didn't and the e-Gate facility wasn't available, except to Thais, (and even that seemed too novel to be of much benefit). I don't suppose the e-Gate works for returning to Thailand.
  18. Do you think option 1 allows for use of passport, or does it mean Pink ID, (which is same as TIN)? (I have not registered my Pink ID / TIN with my bank).
  19. I have received the letter, but it is different from yours, in that it gives me 3 options to receive the money, (at Krung Thai Bank): 1) is probably not applicable, as my bank account (and therefore PromptPay) is registered through my passport, (but whether that is my "national ID number", I don't know). 2) is not applicable, as I do not have a Krung Thai account. 3) I do not know what an e-Money card is, or how to use it.
  20. Just curious about use of e gate: I presume you hold a UK passport, but were able to utilise the e gate with that and it correctly read your EoS Non O visa? Also, were you in Fast Track because you're a Qatar Airways Gold card holder, or were you travelling in Business Class? Thanks.
  21. The famous quote attributed to Samuel Johnson is: "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life." The full quote, as recorded by his biographer James Boswell, is: "Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." (In 1777.)
  22. Yes, a bit complicated. I have PromptPay on my bank accounts, but bank accounts opened with passport and they have no record of my pink ID, nor would they accept it, (AFAIK). I'll just deposit the WHT refund cheque. I agree, awaiting clarification as in "waiting for Godot", I imagine. I shall continue to retain information as I did for 2024, (none of which has been required). When there's something unequivocal, (a man can dream), I will decide how to proceed with document retention etc.
  23. @Zaphod Priest & @Yumthai Noted, thank you. I obviously misunderstood some of the hundreds of thousands of claims made over the last 18 months that these (CRS & FACTA) were of themselves serious tax evasion tools.
