  1. Yes they will sell candy, books, stickers, pens / things we need for the class, bottles of 'thai herb', paying a fine if you don't recycle a bottle. Anything but teach the class.
  2. Don't fall for the weekend classes. It's just a way to get a bonus for the Thai teachers. The kids study hard all week take a rest at the weekend.
  3. Just focus on reading and speaking. If your kid can read they can pass the tests. Tell the kid to read everyday. Push the level up higher and higher. There should be nothing that a native speaker would fail on at Thai primary level.
  4. Just avoid Thai teachers at all cost. They are abusive and can not teach English. Any school with an EP program would be better. The foreign teachers work hard and understand the material better.
  5. I don't think they care. Just flash the cash.
  6. You can probably cut that number in half again due to most of them never having read the bible in their life.
  7. A lot of people have had this. I got it. My gf got it. The toilets at the school are busy. And many people taking days off. Just eat plain food and wait for it to pass.
  8. Yeah the paper work drags on. A good agency will do it all for you. A bad agency will keeping asking you to visit various offices. But they do eventually pay you.
  9. English exam. Website in Thai.
  10. The salary is so low I wouldn't bother. Unless you run out of toilet paper.
  11. You have to be Filipino or Russian. No native speakers allowed.
  12. Get a TEFL, smile and start working at an international school. Wow, it's a different world for some.
  13. They're here to teach English, so kiss goodbye to your jobs. Who needs natives anymore?
  14. It doesn't look like he can give up now. The embarrassment of it would be too much. I think he will cross the line and create a world war. Russia will be turned into dust and a new government will be put it place.
  15. I get told to open my luggage because of a suspicious teddy bear, but boxes full of guns pass though with no problems. Great job security staff.
  16. They are bible bashing all the time. Backstabbing slimy people. Look at you with a grin and then slander you in private groups, chats and meetings. I have had nothing but bad experiences with Filipinos. After 8 years Thailand, aside from a pickpocket attempt that did work anyway, I have nothing but good experiences with Thai people.
  17. Being able to plan multiple steps ahead shows the level of intelligence of an animal. Some people just don't have it. Cross the road and don't look. Throw the car door open and kill someone on a motorcycle. Carry a child and knock its head on the door frame. Throw a door open and hit someone on the other side. They are good for war though. Just tell them to kill people they have never met and they will march.
  18. It's a no fail system. We can not fail anyone and the students know it. If we could fail students the standards and general teaching atmosphere would increase all round. The tablets, phones, touchscreens and other tacky add-ons are all useless. We still have to use a book.
  19. I don't want to smoke anything because this is purely for medical purposes. I have chronic anxiety disorder and it is ruining my life. Everyone says cannabis helps with anxiety symptoms. So where can I buy an over the counter product containing cannabis?
  20. So I have a degree in Business English, the TESOL and experience teaching at universities. The Business Degree is exactly what they need. They don't need marketing, they don't need accounting. They need someone with an English Degree. I went for a job interview and there were ten people going for the same job. In the first few emails they asked me for 300 baht for ''administration fees''. So I paid it. The job is English Teacher / English Lecturer. The following races were in the waiting room: Filipino woman Filipino man Filipino man Malaysian woman Indian man Thai man African man African man British man (me) So they gave the job to the Malaysian woman. I spent 6 years of my life to get to that point, and a non-native came along and somehow lands the job. These people can barely speak English, and they get a job teaching English at a university.
