Well, Axa has 147,000 employees, 94 million clients and large offices in 51 countries and 103 billion Euros in revenue. Do I trust them more? Guess my anwer.

A company who does not show real informations anywhere and has to be asked for simple details is at least not a good sign in my opinion. Compare that to other insurers who are open and publish all infos about their business, reputation, registration, capital base and so on.

Health Insurance for the over 70’s
I clearly met the requirements. This was however 10 years ago. At that time the SSO rules were not really so clear and known to the offices.

Health Insurance for the over 70’s
It depends on the branch of SSO where you are registered. Myself and others were refused to continue the insurance on a voluntarily basis.

CBD Coffee as your perfect morning pick-me-up
You are right about the photo. It looks more like tea to me, not coffee.

Annual angst about proposal to renew current April International Health Insurance Policy - new AA recommendation to replace with Regency for Expats Policy. What to Do?????
April International UK charges nearly double of the mentioned premiums for the Long term international plan. The policy is however for all countries worldwide ex US. The UK plans do not offer the different coverage zones. This company does also offer a Thai plan which is however the local Thai version registered here.

Buying a condo this year. Taxes?
It is not correct that buildings are not well maintained. It very much depends on the building. I bought one unit many years ago in a well maintained building and I am most happy with it. The value has definitely increased over the years as it is right in the central district. The good maintenance results however in high monthly common fees charged. And condos in Bangkok are not cheap to rent in my opinion. It all depends on location, size and standard (and maintenance as well).

Aircon controls.
It is better to change the whole set because technology has changed over time. New models run much more efficiently. I assume the aircon is quite old already.

Wise fees are going up again.
Wise also gave me on example based on my last transfer in SGD. The new fee would be 2% cheaper. Fees have changed but not in all cases up.

Health Insurance renewal
Thaksin is certainly not a good example. Billionaires do not need any insurance, they can self pay.

agoda more expensive than direct booking? + bit of scam innit
Agoda and other agents have a quota of rooms often for the whole year. One hotel told me once that it is not allowed to offer the Agoda reserved rooms directly because they are reserved. My guess is that in your case that of the Agoda reserved rooms there were only 3 available. Another time I saw the price at Agoda but went to a hotel directly. Surprisingly the hotel price was more expensive. The receptionist told me to use my phone and book at Agoda, which I did to be able to check in immediately for the lower Agoda price. My experience is that sometimes Agoda or booking.com are cheaper and other times not. Agoda has good deals if you book just 24 hours or less before arrival. And at Agoda you can collect points of I think 10%value of the booking price, that means you will get credit back. If you have enough points you will get a free night.

Espresso for Europeans
I would say for shops with expensive equipment and average coffee it is mostly related to the beans used. And for beans everyone has a different taste. And some shops like Starbucks might use ok beans but fill in too much water. I seldom go there, last time I told the staff to fill just 50% of the water and this was the first time I had a good Americano in Starbucks.

Espresso for Europeans
I am sure my grinder from Italy for 12,000 Baht with 37 different grind sizes to choose from is excellent for all brewing methods even if I do not need all these 37 options. I also own a cheaper one for around 6,000 Baht which is ok just for coffee press and filter. It cannot be used for an espresso machine. I own a matching espresso machine from Italy and that's why I know how important a good grinder is. The espresso grind size is used also for americano.

Espresso for Europeans
You most probably never made a real espresso in your life. It is not possible with your grinder for 250 Baht. For coffee press or maybe even filter coffee your grinder might be ok, but not espresso.
-
Espresso for Europeans
I have never seen a cheap grinder able to grind fine expresso. Grind is usually uneven and as I said not fine enough for an espresso machine. And a 250 Baht grinder is probably a blade grinder, the worst of all because of uneven grind.

How to retire in Thailand
I personally doubt that the average retiree has around 1,781 USD income per month. The real figure is much lower than that. And you have to take health insurance or other medical expenses or self insurance into account.

Citibank Transfer of Accounts to UOB
My previous Citibank account showed up in the UOB app today. I had accounts at both banks. Transfer was done automatically today in my case. The UOB app is named UOB TMRW Thailand.

Malinois are great dogs used in military and police. However absolutely not recommended for private households. They are extremely energetic, fearless and not easy to handle.- German patient vaccinated against Covid 217 times
A 62-year-old man from Germany has, against medical advice, been vaccinated 217 times against Covid, doctors report. The bizarre case is documented in The Lancet Infectious Diseases journal. The shots were bought and given privately within the space of 29 months. The man appears to have suffered no ill effects, researchers from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg say.
