I was in a bar in Bangkok and was explaining to this guy how COVID was an international Jewish conspiracy spread by aliens
Not to quibble, but that would make it Interplanetary, at the very least...

I love it on my own having a beer stick the ear plugs in people leave you alone
Beer plugs! Instead of being orange, those little foam earplugs could be coloured to look like little pint glasses of bitter, stout, lager etc....

Wouldn't make much difference if you could. ARs and other long guns are used in very very few crimes and murders. The real killers are handguns. That's why I laugh at all the fuss about banning "assault weapons" (whatever they are). More people in the US are stabbed to death than killed with rifles.
It was a reference to the difference between US & UK gun laws/culture... not any particular detail of the former. (I think it's fair to say 'we brits' don't for the most part care much, or know much about guns.)

Fails...

So..it's the Welsh?
Haven't see them singled out before..not since the battle of Rorke's Drift anyway.
Might I recommend a wander on the streets of Caephilly at Saturday night closing time?

But they're not.
Sadly quite true. Really I think that saying is a way of making light of quite a high level of ethnic tension in Msia, which is otherwise pretty scary.

As they say in Malasia, "The Chinese do the thinking, the Indians do the work and the Malays do <deleted> all".
One of my Malaysian friends would say: "At least here in Malaysia, we're equal opportunity racists!".

THE secret to living a long, happy life is to be nasty, unintelligent or a combination of the two, research has found. Studies have shown that expending energy on a high-functioning brain or exercising a social conscience can take as much as 20 years off a lifespan. By contrast, those who rarely engage their cerebral cortex and are unfailingly hateful to their fellow man frequently live into their 90s or beyond.

1>Tendency to get violent? Many countries like that.
2>I've been on the receiving end of this in Turkey, and I've been treated by other Turks with honor and kindness. There are all sorts.
3>Don't recall saying anything about it being a good idea opening a business in Turkey - that's just a nonsense deflection.
1> An observation being true elsewhere makes it no less true in Turkey.
2> I'd be interesting to hear what happened, if you care to share it. Agreed there are many decent people in most places & Turkey is no exception at all.
3> It was (intended as) humor.

You're quoting a story from 2015, and one which relates to a different matter and a different country.
I people were aware that there had been street protests in Turkey, and I was pointing out a tendency for them to get violent. However, if you feel this is a good time to open a nice little bistro on Istiklal Caddessi, be my guest...

As COVID persists and U.S. election nears, China growth lifts Asia
BEIJING/SEOUL (Reuters) - Asia is starting to see signs of economic recovery as it rides on the back of an upturn in China, which is entering a new expansion phase less than a year after it recorded the world's first cases of COVID-19. https://in.mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN27E0FK
Good economic coattails for Thailand to draft on.
How do you think Thailand might benefit?

I really don't see the connection here, sorry.
There were physical attacks in Turkey on people somehow perceived to be related to the problem, over Islam-related issues.

I wonder if there are any barriers to Sodastream (or a similar company) recreating these orphan soda pops?
(Online shopping + low shipping costs for syrup could allow even niche flavors to be profitable)
