  1. I have tried reading a few of the novels and found them very heavy going. There is a dramatisation available on the BBC iplayer ( I access with a VPN) called Dickensian. It is an amalgamation of several of the novels and encompasses many characters. I found it very watchable.
  2. Do you happen to remember the name of the hotel in Fang near the Tesco Lotus? I have a short, upcoming trip to Fang and haven't yet seen any Hotel I particularly fancy on the likes of Agoda. Thanks in advance.
  3. No worries. I think it is closed on Tuesday's along with the bar. Just a heads up, don't want you to have a wasted journey.
  4. I've just spent a couple of weeks in Chiang Mai and got my bread from the bakery next to U.N.Irish bar on Ratvithi road (near Thapae Gate). I think the bar owns the bakery. They have English crusty loaf amongst other types of bread. Small loaf 50 baht, large 85 baht. It is similar to what we would call a crusty tin loaf in the UK. They also have a selection of rolls, baguettes, English muffins etc. They do a decent pie but not cheap for the size (150 baht). If you do pay a visit I would suggest getting there as close as possible to opening time at 9.00am. Whilst they have a selection, they seem to only have a few of each. They will slice the bread for you if required. On the same road (same side but nearer Thapae end of the road) there is a small shop that sells grilled cheese and meat sandwiches. They will sell sourdough loaves aswell. I've not bought a loaf from there but have had a sandwich. It was very good. These two options are the best I've had in Chiang Mai and most similar to what we would have in the UK.
  5. Pretty much equal over the three forms of international cricket. You will no doubt ignore the Aussies ranking for T20 though as it will make your average ranking look better.
  6. I like a game of darts....
  7. You could be describing me there....
  8. Can't argue with that. Totally agree. Bairstow batted well in spells but overall don't think he was up to scratch behind the stumps.
  9. It was such an irrelevant comment. What has his supposed wealth got to do with anything? Had nothing to do with what is being discussed. I'm just waiting for the "my dad's bigger than yours" post next. Lighten up. It's all meant to be a bit of banter
  10. Give it a rest bignok. Where did you pull that one from? Clutching at straws a bit there. C'mon, you're better than that...
  11. The picture does look like the burger buns we have back in the UK. If it is similar then they are quite light and airy inside and do a good job in soaking up the juices and sauces without going soggy. I think 45 baht per bun is a bit steep though. Suppose it depends on how many you are feeding.
  12. I see a certain posters reply count has recently reduced by 3. Baiting/trolling? I'll never get to know as he is the sole person I have chosen to ignore on this forum.
  13. Not whinging. Merely pointing out the inaccuracy of your post. Getting a bit tetchy are we?
  14. No it isn't. You win the Ashes if you take them off the team currently holding them. Or, at a push, if as holder you win the series.
  15. Not won yet, merely RETAINED.
  16. So was 2013. Unfortunately, to the Aussies again. :-)
  17. Now, I'm not going to mention that though am I? I'm an arrogant, whingeing Pom :-) The last win for England in Oz though was 2011 so a decade more recent than Aussies last win in the UK. England also won three matches by an innings in that series. Also the first team to score 500+ in 4 innings in an Ashes series.
  18. And hopefully remain unbeaten in a home series against the Aussies going back to 2001. The last time the Aussies won a series in the UK God was still a young lad. (I can already picture the abuse if Aussies go on to win the 5th test) :-)
  19. Chinese Tourists Indian Tourists Crap Pavements Hard mattresses Having to return home
  20. I regularly apply for evisa from the UK. I have a 1 page doc which says " Not required for Tourist Visa " and upload this to the sections which I don't have/shouldn't need the requested documentation. On two occasions the embassy had a query regarding my accommodation in Thailand but emailed me requesting I provide another document (responding to the email they sent). The visa was then issued within 12 hours. In both instances my application was processed rather than denied.
  21. Another favourite of mine was Old Jamaica Rum 'n' Raisin. Can't get it any more although Morrisons in the UK do a passable copy. Shows how old the picture is - only cost 9 pence a bar!
  22. I think it's down to the stoners getting the munchies. Does anyone remember Wagon Wheels? When I was a kid they were as big as your head. Now, 2 bites and it's gone.
  23. Who says romance is dead?
  24. Such sad news. Incredibly generous with his time and knowledge and never a snipe or snide remark. A true gentleman. I hope his family and friends take some solace from the wonderful comments that have been posted.
