  1. Nigel, I appreciate you spending time with your posts. Could you please offer some comment on a hypothetical assumption? If there was a significant reduction in volumes in import / export / GDP yet the ratios of exports remained at that 60% mark, what would be the effect on the THB in general terms if all other external variables were equal? What role does the gross GDP of Thailand play if exports remain higher?

Not sure if it is the exact model. There are also plenty of aftermarket battery shops locally in Thailand that will have just the battery you need.
  3. Hi OP, things like that are readily available. Look on aliexpress. here is what an initial search came up with. https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-asus-charging-socket.html?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20230120182122&SearchText=asus%2Bcharging%2Bsocket&spm=a2g0o.home.1000002.0&dida=y Also, there are a few PC dismantlers around who desolder and then resolder components on to motherboards. Both Panthip plazas (Phetchaburi Rd and Ngam Wong Wan) have shops where you can by second hand laptop components. They both had tradespeople with skills to replace componentry on (capacitors / resistors etc) on motherboards. I've used the guy at Panthip Ngamwongwan several times for fault finding and component replacement on a variety of PCB and motherboards. He is in the back left corner on the 4th or 5th level. That probably doesn't help you in Pattaya(based on your location under your name), but there will be without doubt people who can desolder and resolder a warn out DC connector if you source one from Aliexpress.
  4. I just quoted exactly what you said and questioned it and then I explanded on it with a post explaining my rationale. In a basic yet scientific and logical way. You know, the way and engineer would go about it. A "motorcyle engineer" you say? in several recent posts you have enthralled us with such gems as not needing to check valve clearances as you just know instinctively when they are out. Is that what you were taught in motorcycle engineer school? You have used hearsay and a distinct lack of facts in this post and others with typing that defy any rudimentary resemblance to anything that could even be remotely referred to as engineering. Let's put two cases to you. The first is an impact from a head on where the wheel is the first point of impact with a force of say 8kN . The second would be a shunt from a rear tray of a pickup that impacted directly at a height centre and perpendicular to the head stock with the same impact of 8kN. No need for calculations but it should be easy for you to describe succinctly the transfer of force from the impact zones throughout out the bike's components in both instances for anyone claiming to be any type of engineer. I'd be really interested to hear a true motorcycle engineer's analysis.
  5. Why? You stated "It will be the forks that will be damaged first with a head on. " Notice you said "A head on", not the OP's accident. So the Op's accident was not relevant to your statement that frames can't be damaged in head ons. So my posts stand. I'm waiting for a plane and am killing time. What's your excuse?
  6. That is a very different response to how you replied to Onroadz. It is good that you now ackknowledge that head stock damage can actually happen in a head on. People use this motorcycle forum for advice. It really does assist when posts are as factual as possible in such instances.
  7. Maybe you missed where Onroadz said: "This can happen in a crash if the force of the impact is concentrated on the neck of the frame. " It is logical that if the impact or part of the impact was between the top of bottom triple clamps that there could be shunt damage to the head stock. The same could also happen if the impact was below the triple but close enough to it where the force on the fork stanchion was in shear. That however would likely show shunt damage on the fork stanchion - not sure. Never tested it. Flat bed trailer and pickup tray on some vehicles would be at heights that could potentially cause damage that Onroadz suggests should the force be high enough.
  8. She is less forward than I am. If anyone under almost any circumstance, for almost any reason offered me money, "up to you" would not be my response. A strong "yes" would be spoken. A fool and their money are soon parted. Are you so shocked that a woman might just want a bit of a no strings happy <deleted>. Probably a bonus that her toy boy is dopey enough to offer her money, too.
  9. OP, if you are on a visa exempt you are a tourist. Along the lines of Ubon Joe's sage words, maybe walk into the agency ask again for your passport. If they do not supply or give you the details that you need, Call the Tourist Police on 1155 and explain the situation. Then ask the Tourist Police to speak directly to the staff in the agency. Hand the phone over to staff. Wait for the next step.
  10. Here is a link to an article that refers to the Los Angeles District Attorney's warning on such things. https://www.silicon.co.uk/security/cyberwar/public-charging-stations-steal-data-315655
  11. Here is a news link from an Australian news site showing a theft that occurred due to an Australian bank's contact number was apparently intercepted. https://www.news.com.au/finance/couple-fuming-after-scammer-intercepts-westpac-phone-and-steals-100k-life-savings/news-story/e717bae6b8a2587525dd64e05ce5e698 Fraud involving bank accounts is a worldwide issue. People need to be vigilant with any unsolicited emails, phone calls, texts and chats.
  12. Just because you personally have not had an issue with an Australian bank app does not mean that fraud is less likely. As usual, a translated news clipping lacking any pertinent facts is being used to make more statements that also lack any facts. A thread of hearsay and blaming of Thailand as if it is unique in suffering such issues.
  13. Depends on the type of image you are looking to capture. If someone sees me taking photos when I am looking for a candid street shot or I like the way the light falls on their profile or hair or whatever and they look away or seem hesitant in any way, I apologize with a head nod and leave them to it. No point trying again as the moment is lost. Having said that, I usually look for people who's face tells a story or are busy in thought. Artists like Vivian Mayer created a lot of her portfolio in that way. Would never even consider photo of a child or teenager that could remotely identify them without explicit request from parent. That is just common sense and downright good form. If looking for a portrait, it can be difficult to get a nice shot. So many people are not photogenic. But on occasion I have stopped people and asked if I could photograph them for a more posed image. Go with your gut and put yourself in the subject's shoes. If they just fell over or were doing menial work, they may be less inclined to be excited about someone photographing them.
  14. Would you have reacted differently if someone was holding a phone up? It seems you had great concern about the equipment being used.
  15. Haven't spent much time there but enjoyed some decent restaurants and places to go for some live music in the time I spent up there with some friends. Speaking Thai will help a lot.
  16. Plenty of race tracks around. Try Kaeng Krachan Circuit which is not that far from Hua Hin. I've not ridden it but it looks like it would be a whole box of fun. It is also a circuit which has a good vantage in most areas around the circuit. West of BKK is Nakhon Chai Sri Motorsport Complex at Nakhon Pathom. Regular racing there of all types. Reach out to both of them to get some meet dates.
  17. Hi OP, I hope you are okay after your incident. It can be a bit of a shock when you have an impact. Straightening fork stanchions such as the bent ones in your photo. The forks are connected to the fork stem and lower triple clamp/tree. The fork stem goes through the frame head stock and supported by an upper and lower bearing. The upper trip clamp ties the top of the forks to the top of the fork stem. On multiple bikes, the fork stem can be pressed out of the lower triple clamps if they are bent but replacement triples are easy to source second hand from a bike dismantler. Fork stanchions can often be straightened simply if there is no impact dents, pitting of the chrome or peeling of the chrome coating. Coatings can be reapplied bu then you might be better off with second hand units or whole second hand forks. Be sure to dismantle the second hand forks and add new fluids and possibly cartridge emulator valves. They will help you brake faster and safer and give you a much improved ride. If frame head is damaged, first look at the bearing races and check for correct shape. Call one of the big insurance companies in TH and ask for a repairer that they use. Contact that repairer and ask them to define if a frame is suitable for repair or not. Also ask what those repair methods might be. Then you are armed with info to compare what your personal repairer is suggesting. As someone else mentioned, changing frame means a whole lot of time to physically do it and then you have all the paperwork of frame and engine numbers not working. If the frame is not repairable, I would certainly consider parting the bike out or selling it complete to a dismantler or someone wanting one to repair their own bike or someone looking for a race track only bike. Let us know what you decide and how you get on.
  18. I won't be working for the Thai company., I am engaged by an Australian company to work with the Thai company to train Thai stff on specialist software. There will be multiple regular trips also to introduce Australian customers. I will not be on a Thai company payroll. Would a multiple entry 1 year possibly be granted (assuming all documentation is accurate and suffices the requirements) in this instance under the current Bangkok immigration guidelines?
  19. @ubonjoe thank you. Is it possible to get a non - b single entry updated to a multiple entry at BKK. I know the Australian Thai consulate says so, but sometimes things change on the ground. I will check with Penang.
  20. I have all the paperwork/funds to satisfy an Non Immigrant B - Business visa and have applied for multiple entry versions of them in times past when required. I've just inquired about a non immigrant B visa for business at the Thai consultate in Australia (Australian passport). They are saying potentially 8 week turn around. I need my passport within that time period. I will be in Vietnam for two weeks over xmas and new year holidays. So I could also skip over to Cambodia or Korea or wherever if need be. Is it possible for me to apply for an Non immigrant B visa at a Thai embassy other than Australia successfully? I was planning on entering Thailand mid or late January depending on other client's plans. Also, what are the chances of a multiple entry NON B at first application? I could apply for them in the past and would like the option again because I plan on a couple of work trips to neighbouring countries to Thailand in the first quarter of 2023
  21. Big Jok was high profile. Apparently he got demoted. He might want a bit of coin on the side. Might be worth reaching out to him.
  22. Why only a week? Did she give up after a week? And based on your signature, she probably needed protection more than you did ????
  23. So are you saying that they didn't have workshop manuals? They weren't aware of tolerances for Kawa bikes? You may have come across an incompetent mechanic or mechanic's offsider but the Kawa dealers are the specialists for Kawasaki bikes by their very nature. Are yuou suggesting that going to soi flat tire and finding a guy who repairs Honda Clicks all day will have a deeper understanding of Kawas in general?
  24. Hey buddy. It is bad to hear that you are having some grief. I recall replying to you when you were considering buying this bike. Did you spend the few hundred baht getting the valve shim clearances checked/ You asked what the danger with these bikes were and that is it. Not trying to tell you so but you need to get on top of this. Now with the oil, if you are losing that much oil in such a short space of time. It can only go to three locations: 1. Into the combustion chamber and burnt. That much oil will have blue smoke out of the exhaust from engine start and only get worse when riding. The tip of the exhuaust will be black and possibly dripping black crud. 2. removal by gravity: there will be pools of oil somewhere. 3. And the one you allude to which is oil in the cooling system. Take off the radiator cap and you will see some film of oil. That much oil would have your radiator catch flow bucket full and overloaded. If the head gasket is leaking into the combustion chamber then the oil and the water will be getting burnt. And I dare say you would have siezed the engine by now. As a couple of people already asked, did you check oil with the bike level and vertical? You said yes. Check again because none of what you are saying would give minor symptoms to your bike. Something here is not adding up. Also, it does not take much for labour art the Kawa shop. They are specialists. Get them to diagniose.. Just go in and ask them what is wrong. Do not give your opinion. Price usually goes up when people like to assist diagnosis. Again, I will state here, something if not adding up. You are either not telling the whole story or you are playing with us,. Thast much oil just does not disappear without a strong trail.
