  1. I won't be working for the Thai company., I am engaged by an Australian company to work with the Thai company to train Thai stff on specialist software. There will be multiple regular trips also to introduce Australian customers. I will not be on a Thai company payroll. Would a multiple entry 1 year possibly be granted (assuming all documentation is accurate and suffices the requirements) in this instance under the current Bangkok immigration guidelines?
  2. @ubonjoe thank you. Is it possible to get a non - b single entry updated to a multiple entry at BKK. I know the Australian Thai consulate says so, but sometimes things change on the ground. I will check with Penang.
  3. I have all the paperwork/funds to satisfy an Non Immigrant B - Business visa and have applied for multiple entry versions of them in times past when required. I've just inquired about a non immigrant B visa for business at the Thai consultate in Australia (Australian passport). They are saying potentially 8 week turn around. I need my passport within that time period. I will be in Vietnam for two weeks over xmas and new year holidays. So I could also skip over to Cambodia or Korea or wherever if need be. Is it possible for me to apply for an Non immigrant B visa at a Thai embassy other than Australia successfully? I was planning on entering Thailand mid or late January depending on other client's plans. Also, what are the chances of a multiple entry NON B at first application? I could apply for them in the past and would like the option again because I plan on a couple of work trips to neighbouring countries to Thailand in the first quarter of 2023

  6. So are you saying that they didn't have workshop manuals? They weren't aware of tolerances for Kawa bikes? You may have come across an incompetent mechanic or mechanic's offsider but the Kawa dealers are the specialists for Kawasaki bikes by their very nature. Are yuou suggesting that going to soi flat tire and finding a guy who repairs Honda Clicks all day will have a deeper understanding of Kawas in general?
  7. Hey buddy. It is bad to hear that you are having some grief. I recall replying to you when you were considering buying this bike. Did you spend the few hundred baht getting the valve shim clearances checked/ You asked what the danger with these bikes were and that is it. Not trying to tell you so but you need to get on top of this. Now with the oil, if you are losing that much oil in such a short space of time. It can only go to three locations: 1. Into the combustion chamber and burnt. That much oil will have blue smoke out of the exhaust from engine start and only get worse when riding. The tip of the exhuaust will be black and possibly dripping black crud. 2. removal by gravity: there will be pools of oil somewhere. 3. And the one you allude to which is oil in the cooling system. Take off the radiator cap and you will see some film of oil. That much oil would have your radiator catch flow bucket full and overloaded. If the head gasket is leaking into the combustion chamber then the oil and the water will be getting burnt. And I dare say you would have siezed the engine by now. As a couple of people already asked, did you check oil with the bike level and vertical? You said yes. Check again because none of what you are saying would give minor symptoms to your bike. Something here is not adding up. Also, it does not take much for labour art the Kawa shop. They are specialists. Get them to diagniose.. Just go in and ask them what is wrong. Do not give your opinion. Price usually goes up when people like to assist diagnosis. Again, I will state here, something if not adding up. You are either not telling the whole story or you are playing with us,. Thast much oil just does not disappear without a strong trail.
  8. Has the spark plug been changed or at least checked? The issue could be that it is already too rich at start up.
  9. Wat Lam Phaya is a nice short ride. Get there early and if you are coming from South end of BKK, take Ratchapruek / Kanchanapriesek road to get you to the west then choose as many back roads west of kanchanapriesek as soon as you cross over to Nonthaburi. Plenty of food on floating stalls there. Venture further north / north west from there up to Suphan if you like. Stay near the rivers/ canals to find interesting things. You could also slab it out of town on the 305 to Khao Yai national park. The 3481 will give you a more liesurely ride and meander your way to Khao Yai via roads off the 3079. Again, the trick is to leave early. Also West, you can nip through Ratburi to Suan Phung on the 3208 and then hook onto the 4020 or the 4019 and explore off them. Leaving BKK in the first hour of light before the sun actually comes up will get you out of the snarl before the roads clog up.
  10. If you will attempt to bend the lever, remove it from the lever bracket and bend it in a vice. Also, to minimumise the potential of bent levers for small tip overs, have the lever bracket only just nipped up on the handlebar so that it will not move in normal operation, but will move with any force more than normal operations. Some bike lever brackets have a metal dowel stopping them from rotating, though. Check it out for yourself.
  11. I had my gall bladder removed due to gall stones. It got to the point where any time I ate anything with even small amounts of fat would cause me a few hours of intense pain and sweating and a trip to emergency to max out on pain killers. It was an easy decision for me. The surgery required three small incisions in the abdomen. Felt ginger for a week or so but was up and walking next day and I think I only required an overnight stay in hospital. **Warning - next part is not for squeamish** But the part that some mightn't tell you about is the time it takes for your intestines to adopt. The pancreas constantly makes bile which is used to break down fats. Bile is stored in the gall bladder and is released when the stomache / intestines sense fats. With no gall bladder, bile is constantly dripping into your intestines and if it has nothing to do or is not absorbed by other foods, becomes a severe irritant. For months after the surgery, I could not trust a fart and on a couple of occasions had almost instantaneous diarrhea. So seriously be prepared with a change of underwear, outwear and wet wipes until the body starts to accommodate for no gall bladder. I still find that if I don't eat for more than about 8 hours, I will <deleted> straight bile. I've found that a lot more fibre and breads helped in the early days. You want foods that bulk up to absorb the bile. But once I dealt with that and the body settled down, there are no issues. I needed the surgery because I was having attacks far too regularly and my gall bladder was heavily infected. My biggest stone was over an inch in diametre. But if you are feeling no ill effects and there is no cancer, you will need to toss up the aftereffects because for me and a few others I spoke to they were very real for a few months. Good luck with it.
  12. That looks like a whole bag of fun. Wouldn't want to many others on the road around when playing on it, though. Probably want to be wearing armor, to stop the bruises when the fishtails get a bit too sideways, though.
  13. Again, you have given example of the law not being adhered to. Which is very different to having no law. And what exactly makes you think that I don't know what goes on 'behind the scenes"? Is it because I don't have 10,000 posts on Thai Visa / Asean? An ex partner worked for NACC. I heard enough of her and her colleague's shop talk to get a bit of a peak "behind the scenes".
  14. There is a difference between what is law and whether or not that law is upheld by the police. What you may have observed or heard is a situation where a police officer or officers had not held citizens accountable. That does not mean that there is no law relating to the act in question.
  15. Try Decathalon in several locations in BKK. Not the brands you are familiar with, but they have a good range of quality hiking and camping gear. They usually have a cheap brand and a more upper range brand on a range of items.
  16. Old bike with that many KM and unknown history, I'd check valve clearances. You will learn two things at least when the job is done. The first is that you / the mechanic will get to see the condition of the top end and whether oil has been refreshed as required or not. By 55K, you will start to see crud and gumming on poorly serviced units. But as long as it has had it's first service to refresh the break in oil, no oil change to 55KM may not be catastrophic. Have seen worse still running. The second is you will know for sure the valve clearances are on point. Very easy for a slightly out of tolerance exhaust valve to burn out and that is downhill from there. It isn't really worth the time and parts and machining to repair it on an old bike. So it is piece of mind. The bonus is that the engine will run a little more crisp. Those engines are otherwise bulletproof. Clutch or major bearing issues will be otherwise noticed readily enough when riding. If the engine is free to rev, has no judder on take off, then the engine is sound. Check chain and sprockets, cush drives in the rear wheel, front axle alignment. Also brake softly at slow speed and check for warped discs. The rear shock if standard will be screwed in rebound by now. If you are keeping the bike, get an aftermarket jobbie from YSS. Good value for a fair unit. You will also get a spring to suit you and your carrying load. New fork oil and throw some emulators and springs to match your weight and load. in there while the forks are apart. Will transform the bike along with the rear shock. Probably get change from 15000THB if you get it done at YSS factory. Good guys there. Had several bikes sorted there and never been disappointed. Unless the bike comes with quality suspension, always budget on emulators and forks for the front and a rear shock with rebound, new tyres if needed, front scintered brake pads and braided front brake line(s) if not standard. Run separate front lines if dual disk front end. LIfe is good on a well suspended bike that stops. That's what I would do to any second hand bike with any real KM on it. Unless it is a sport bike or high quality purpose adventure bike, suspension generally is terrible on factory bikes.
  17. Forks on a kawasaki 650 are really very basic. The only time you would need to replace forks is for the following reasons. 1. Crash damage to the upper of lower part of the fork. These means bending or cracking and maybe dents on the lower leg. It would also mean bending or dent on the upper fork (stanchion). This is the chrome area. Dents on the lower leg might not be an issue. It would need to be confirmed that the dent was no so large that it is impeding full stroke and binding of the internals. Check that any axle pinch bolts can all snug up tight without being impeded. Also check for cracks around where the brake calipers mount. Maybe the mechanic has spotted something on the lowers. 2. The upper fork might have pitting on the chrome. Even small pits can at times destroy even new fork seals in quick time. check with a fingernail all around the chrome area that could pass by the seal. If you feel any resistance, further investigation is required. Sometimes gently lapping with a 2000 grit wet and dry sandpaper can reduce the possibility of fork seal damage. Also check fork uppers for straightness with the straight edge. 3. It unusual for internals in basic fork to be damaged during normal servicing. It would only be due to mechanic error if things like the damper rod retaining screw was stripped or similar. There is really not much else except main spring, possibly bottom out spring and guides and spacers to go wrong on standard units. If the mechanic is saying that there is more than oil as an issue, investigate points 1 and 2. Point 3 is unlikely. Here is an exploded view of a newer model 650 fork. It would be unlikely that much has changed over the years.
  18. I was hoping to ships about 25 kg of things in a single box by surface post from Thailand to Australi by Thailand Post. I can't find the zone that Australia is in to get pricing. At the bottom of this page on the Thailand Post web site here https://international.thailandpost.com/services/international-post-service/?lang=en , there is a link at the bottom of the page to a PDF called "Thailand Post’s Announcement Subject: International Air Parcel Post Service Rates" and it includes many countries but Australia is not one of them. The top of the page states that there is surface and air options for 255 countries, but it seems there is not a comprehensive list. I have gone to a few post offices and they refer to the PDF I mention above, see there is no Australia and conclude that there is no post to Australia. Can anyone give me a heads up on how to get the info or how you went about sending surface to Australia from Th?
  19. oh and finally, - The temp Immigration is toward the south east end of the building on level 3. - There are photocopying options on either side of the temporary immigration. Price is 2 baht a black and white. page. Also, I have just received this message from Immigration via my email address. "Dear MR. Matthijs Engelbeen, As you requested, the booking has been cancelled. Kind regards, " I am not Mr Matthijs. So if you know him, you might like to let him know so he can make other arrangements. I'm not sure how my email got confused with this person's email address.
  20. Just wanted to say thanks to all. Done and dusted this morning. Here are a few things for new players that you may or may not find useful. - At IT Square I saw a sign on the outside of the building with an arrow that took me from the outside carpark level about about a flight of 10 stairs and then a right turn. The next sign had a straight ahead arrow that took me to the first level carpark and then nothing. - The entry to IT Square that I found early in the morning was on external carpark level at the northern end of IT Square. The entrance was just before the Bangkok Bank rows of ATM. If you get to Took La Dee restaurant, you have gone too far. Attached a photo of the entrance. - Gettign there early didn't seem to matter much. Some people who strolled in at about 8am started forming their own line and ignored the seating queue. - I took the TM 7 and a copy of front page of passport. At check documents, I was told to go and get a photocopy of my stamp in the passport and of the departure card, also. I didn't have to get a new queue number,. The officer just told me to go straight back to them when I had the photocopy complete. - All in all it wasn't that painful. Thanks again for the assistance.

  22. Thanks for the answers, guys. Staying in hotels will not be an issue? Can't believe I was so foolish. Is the immigration at Laksi or Chaeng Wattana? I saw a popup on the immigration web site that it has moved. Can anyone confirm?
