  1. Didn't bother to read your post the first time. If you don't like what I type, put me on hide. I rarely read fiction so I am unsure why you mentioned me and the bible in the same sentence. And I'll post as I choose, thanks all the same. Thank you for not suggesting that you know my thoughts in your question and worthy of a response. - Packed with tourists and holiday makers both locals and foreigners alike. - Terrible parking in town. - The touts that invariably come with tourists and more bothersome lady boys and hookers. I'd like to think I'm special but even getting hit up in shopping malls by women in pay for play gets tiring real quick. - ocean water not to a standard that I'm comfortable swimming in and average beach. I could go on. EDIT: I will go on. Farangs who think that after misinterpreting a post believe that they have a person summed up. High % of them in Pattaya zone based on an admittedly small sample size of the people I met there in the short time that I have been there. You are 0-2 at being wrong. In SCUBA parlance you are well past your safe PPO2 of 1.6.. You better ascend before you O2 tox.
  2. Really not confused. I wasn't referring to just bar scene. Pattaya and all that it offers is my idea of hell.
  3. Living in Pattaya would be my idea of hell. There are so many other locations in Thailand that are available that offer a range of things to do.
  4. Thank you all for the enlightening comments. I'm still a few years off retirement visa age but I thought it interesting. It seems that producing income online may be technically bound to where those keyboard keystrokes are performed.
  5. Are digital nomads / online consultants deemed to be working in Thailand if all their income is generated in and paid into banks in a country other than Thailand? I'm talking Elite visas, marriage visas or retirement visas. Would anyone foresee a legal issue arising for a digital nomad under those circumstances?
  6. Do you actually need to be officially retired to get a retirement visa? Or could you be over 50 and still not officially retired in your home country and get a Thailand retirement visa if you still have income stream in your home country? EG: Rent own home / properties in home country for passive income. Work online part time for a business based in home country. Not officially 'retired' in your home country and apply for Thailand Retirement Visa? Is that legit if you have the 800k in the bank method?
  7. If you are on a PC with a Windows operating system, go here: c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts and open it with Notepad. Copy the contents and post it here if you like. The Hosts file is one common way of highjacking browsers.
  8. England threw caution to the wind in their first innings of the fourth test because they were aware of the weather and it came off for them. They batted too long. That was an error in judgement. Australia came into the game knowing the weather also and the unlikelihood of being bowled out twice whilst still behind on the scoreboard. If the weather wasn't known, both teams would have played a different style of game. Australia were highly defensive in their bowling and fielding options they were still reserved but less so in their batting. Australian bowlers look like they are out of options with the Duke ball. They are not prepared to set full attacking fields and bowl a consistent line for any amount of time which leads to very defensive play. Leg Theory with 2 back behind square is a very defensive "attacking" option. Having a deep third man, a deep gully and deep backward point all on the boundary to Baristow was rather tepid field planning to say the least. Dan Vettori spent a lot of time yawning during that test. Maybe he needs to be working on more attacking strategies to get England's bats out.
  9. Based on the static shot of the youtube on the first post, my suggestion is horrendous fashion faux pas in t-shirts being right up there in the top ten.

    No milk today

Doesn't seem to be a shortage of milk currently in Non. Buy it twice a week at the 7 and there has been some available. Around here there traditionally has been less call for it and limited stock at the best of times.
  11. If you had a problem gallstone, you would know it for sure. One way to test is to eat some fried food and then wait.
  12. Have you considered that the translation from Thai language to English did not fully capture the context of the store's management? What is it will translator blaming?
  13. What crime are you expecting to be arrested for that will warrant a photo opportunity?
  14. Should the US also stop all the aid funding to the region? Or are you okay with that aspect as long as they continue to give and keep their filthy hands out?
  15. I would like to buy some acoustic guitar strings this afternoon. I'll be travelling from Bang Sue to Rama 9. Is anyone aware of a shop that will be open on a sunday afternoon that sells a range of strings?
  16. I just go to my local vehicle inspection centre. They charge 100 baht to handle my registration and 3rd party government insurance. I get the insurance certificate on the spot and I get the registration sticker a few days later. As my bike is older than 5 years, I need to take it there for a quick check of brakes and lights anyway. The inspection centres have a symbol of a big blue sprocket/gear.
  17. The very best way would be to change the Thai Baht to AUD and then carry it to Australia and declare it at AU Border Security. If it is more than $10,000AUD you will need to explain where it came from with documentation. All other rates will be much lower. If you want to shift it from a Thai bank to an AU bank, you will need proof of where these funds came from if it is more than $10,000AUD.
  18. I can confirm that after seeking help here. immigration didn't even bring it up.
  19. Do you speak Thai? How do you communicate with your son? Did he get talk English growing up?
