  1. This is a laff. At some of these upcountry schools the parents cant even read. Contracts, agreements... Parents will generally bow to school authority but the scenario you propse is as complicated as any Thai could create. The solution is to figure out how to engage the students. You can ask students to put their phones in a box or whatever. I would not take phones from students. Many schools disappove of this as well. It's personal property. You can't compete with the psychological pull of games and social media. If the school won't adopt a policy then deal with it or leave.
  2. I'm not necessarily against this and unlicensed teachers without any professional development behind them make far too much of this. The quality of the education (system) bears some responsibility. So, they repeat inn the sdme school, under the same teacher. Which also means they repeat your class again as well. To the point above and in general how many thousands of these students can the schools absorb repeating both financially and logistically? Even in US students are up and out and that's the way it should be. You can give them 50-60% and that's enough damage an untrained and unlicensed teacher should do to any students future.
  3. The issue is that they are reef fish. Years ago i was on a snorkel boat with a woman that happened to work for the Fisheries Dept. I remarked that the qty of fish traps in the NP was ridiculous and she ought to sort it out. She laughed and said ... I don't want to die.
  4. This is positively stupid. I've seen Parrotfish in --- - supermarket and it was labeled as such. There's worse meat but its not great. Should get nice fillets though.
  5. When students to any degree control the classroom you as a teacher have lost. Allow it to continue long enough and the die is cast. As a teacher you must be the absolute authority. Working with teens is a challenge. You can mitigate the issues by working in good schools. Additionally, learning some classroom management skills are paramount. Two great tricks that works with students (with a conscience). 1 stand quietly in front of the class - for as long as it takes. The class will quiet itself eventually. 2 When you need to focus the class immediately and in unison ... if you can whistle loudly. Give a short, sharp, very loud whistle. I need to do this rarely when there's too much low level noise, chatter. It's worked in many grades, schools. For the OP someone recommended webapps. I highly second it. Kahoot is BS but there are many others students absolutely love. Rejig your lessons to utilize the apps. OP apparently lost control of a classroom that may have been doomed from the start but oh well. Use the balance of the year to learn how to manage these issues or it may end up being a never ending struggle and youll grow to hate teaching quickly
  6. Rate them for what? Long term livability? Khon Khaen 2.5 The rest are somewhat between 0-1.5 Most are just 40 degree dust bowls
  7. Many schools do not want you to take the property of students. Once taken you are also responsible for it. What if you return a broken Nokia phone to a student only to him him say thats not my phone. I have a new Samsung Galaxy! What if students sneak sime phones away while you are writing on the blackboard or sorting out the kids in the back? Hey...you stole my phone! You're gone pal. Like a flash.
  8. Lol. You can't remove students from a classroom.
  9. Except that's too much bither for you. Why ask? Youll just end up in Pattaya anyway.
  10. Always was. In fact, influx of beer bellies and smokers. Someone let loose the early retirees and cooped up Europeans. I'm not a customer - happily married. I just go for pints at the pub. Even if I was I'd be using an app snd not paying top dollar for grannies and whales.
  11. Soi Cowboy is finished. Fat, old, ugly mix and mstch on that one. Has Nana suffered the same fate? Anyone been to Pat Pong recently? Think its been 20 years for me.
  12. In Pattaya making money. Why do you think you can just have a woman just like that 1 2 3? Must be very handsome and wealthy. Personally, I don't find dark women attractive. As they age even less so. Of course many exceptions (Asian), but in general...
  13. When i lived in Pattaya the freelancers on the beach were hhought to be desperate and dirty. HIV and or psychological problems. Most would do pretty much anything for small money. None were especially attractive or even sexy. It was said they couldn't get work in the bars. None ecer looked especially clean and if you know Pattaya none of the women in general are. Chlamydia is legion. Im guessing by now you can add all sorts of other STDs
  14. Yes. But you have the car...and your wife has the book lol. You don't see the futility? How would it work back home where you live? Answer it wouldn't.
  15. 6000b seems pretty good money for some Chinese amateur. I'd read somewhere straight American* actors make US400. Hope they clamp down hard on porn. My friend said he's worried because its all made without condoms. Pattaya must be rife with HIV
  16. I think your fear of taking antibiotics is prudent especially here in Thailand. To this end, you don't need antibiotics to follow a tooth beingpbpulled. All you need is ibuprofen. I would recommend the 600 mg tablets by a strip - or two. You only need antibiotics when you have an infection and if the tooth is pulled and there's no infection then you don't need the <deleted> antibiotic. You can and should treat the area with peroxide and gargle with mouthwash often. Keep it clean and as dry as possible. Where are you planning on having the extraction done if I might ask?? I have a back tooth giving me problems ... Apparently failed root canal. Mild infection won't resolve.
  17. They won't. I would expect that even if one of them was given a free ticket they wouldn't come over here and spend the amount of time and money that it would take to wrestle that car away from whomever and see that it's put in their name and then resell it. That doesn't change the situation
  18. Much of that presumably is either US second hand stuff off loaded by thrift stores and or Cambodian clothing manufacturers selling overs and whatnot. ??
  19. Wife's size years back in USA = 0 Mom says no more zero. Smallest is 4. Even kids sizes don't work bc shed need clothes for 8yo but obviously a style and fashion issue. 12-13yo maybe. Fatties
