  1. Price Gouging you say. I just got back from a Famous Major Hospital in BKK. (Check my cover name) Their Website advertises Endoscopy $18,000 Baht, So I made an app't and went over and at the paperwork counter (you have to pay first, of course) I am told that Anesthesia is a required part of the procedure $12,000 Baht BAIT AND SWITCH?? I paid because I have a swallowing problem and needed it looked at immediately
  2. I live in BKK I have a U.S. bank account and an ATM card from them. I have been using Bangkok Bank ATM's because I was told that they give the best exchange rates... not charges just rates. Anybody have any knowledge on this?
  3. Sukumvit Soi 8 has become a street food mecca. Yes the restaurants are overpriced, but a bunch of little bars have popped up. Otto Pizza is new and better than most. Slip down the alley next to 7-11 3 restaurants there and you can get the best haircut et al in Nana
  4. In my experience, if you don't have the money to pay , UP FRONT, private hospitals may not be interested in treating you
  5. I think people use agents because of the 800,000 in the bank. That doesn't make them "Illegal Foreigners" it's just bending the rule in a country which is famous for rule bending. If you do get caught it might be 2000 Baht to change your address
  6. Thank you all for your info...............I am OLD+ so B class is necessary. Thai .right now , is the cheapest; But Emirates, which is not too much more, is probably 2 grades up. but 2 shorter flights with a layover vs, direct eat/sleep/eat is the choice to make
  7. I am planning a trip to Paris in the spring. Business Class. Thai is the only direct flight, which is only minimally important but without a full trip review is Thai B class any good, Anybody with experience? Type of plane Food Bed Thanks in advance

  17. I'm not stupid nor am I sad and lonely. Been here 12 years. Thailand doesn't outreach for expats; their eyes are glued to 49 million tourists Waiting for it to happen again I don't think they can see past that. Expats are a monthly cash cow requiring nothing from the Government. It's a one way cash flow
  18. Lower Sukhumvit Lived here 10 years Pre Covid post Covid totally different place Yes Very Arab Lots of Pot stores Muslims don't drink alcohol, looks like Indians don't do bars, so there is a lot of emptiness on Soi 4. I would say that So 1 to T21 needs a really good street cleaning and repair something like they did on Silom by the Complex
  19. Thanks for the info without ruffled feathers
  20. After Jan 1 will a U.S. Visa holder, with a Thai Retirement Visa, need a Schengen Visa to go to Europe ? ie will the Thai Visa have any effect
  21. Not clear on the answers Does the 90 day TM47 start the first day of the Visa Renewal or does it continue from the last 90 day report ?
  22. TAT looks at Tourism as that great girlfriend, with the fabulous body that left and probably won't come back. But the memory lingers on . Meanwhile Expats come and rent or buy and spend money on food and needs every month without costing the Gov a penny.
  23. FYI There are no Podiatrists in Thailand, For a proper diagnosis find one in Singapore
