  1. If you have fast Internet, you can choose to pay a couple of hundred baht more for the same models, but with 1000 Mbps Ethernet capability.
  2. Options from the link posted earlier: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/8k-2022-android-tv-box-x96-x4-4gb32gb-amlogic-s905x4-android-110-i3407285330-s12600379481.html or with an Air remote control: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/8k-2022-android-tv-box-x96-x4-4gb32gb-amlogic-s905x4-android-110-g10s-i3407357476-s12600663463.html Alternatively: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/8k-2022-android-tv-box-hk1-rbox-x4s-4gb32gb-amlogic-s905x4-android-11-100-m-i3403244621-s12584610466.html or with an Air remote control: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/8k-2022-android-tv-box-hk1-rbox-x4-4gb32gb-amlogic-s905x4-android-11-100-m-g10s-i3405141298-s12591775954.html I hope that narrows it down a bit for you.

  4. Up to you… I didn’t post just one choice. They likely will all play H.265, with the better ones playing AV1 too. Your hardware is incapable. VLC cannot override the hardware issue. An Android box will allow you to play anything you download. Then no need to faff around picking and choosing the lowest quality videos and worse, having to convert them. If you can afford it, why out yourself through unnecessary difficulty? ????
  5. Seriously, that’s too primitive. Splash out on a media player and save the time and energy used to convert video. Of course only if it’s within budget. Allow me to give you an example… I can find a Magnet or Torrent file on my PC or phone and be viewing the media on my TV in as little as a minute. No need to download it beforehand at all. Now imagine that I had to wait for it to download to my hard drive and then I had to convert it overnight before being able to view it ????
  6. So easy to update everything using an Android box, if you can afford it. A good spec, say with Amlogic S905x4 will go for around 1600. They add quite a bit of functionality in addition. My Torrents stay in the Cloud, I play them directly from there using KODI on an Android box. Nothing needs to be downloaded to my PC beforehand nor to my phone if I choose to use that to grab a Torrent. But even if you choose to use it to simply play media via USB, it’s still much cheaper than a new TV ????
  7. Your TV can only play AVI, MKV, MP4, VOB, MPG & DAT. Get yourself an Android box to bring everything up to date.

  9. The router link is in your inbox. SIM link is here. You can order COD: https://shopee.co.th/search?keyword=ซิมเทพธอร์ The general price online is 1790 baht, though there are a few that undercut that. Be careful when choosing, as there is an option of 15Mbps, but with a 100 GB limit. You don’t want that one. If you need me to pick a random but reliable seller, here is one: https://shopee.co.th/-เลือกเบอร์-SET1-Sim-Thor-ซิมเทพธอร์-ซิมเน็ตทรู-ชิมเทพ-เนตเทพ-ความเร็ว-15Mbps-1ปี-โทรฟรีทุกเครือข่าย-720-นาที-i.67420445.1652701443
  10. What’s the model number of the Panasonic? It might also be helpful to glean exactly the kind of file that is in question. Not all HEVC is the same. My suggestion for now is to go here: http://www.larmoire.info/jellyfish/ to download some test files to your USB drive. There are three types: H.264, H.265 8-bit and H.265 10-bit. Some players can struggle with 10-bit. The further you move down the list, the more difficult for the device in question. This way you find out the limitations of your device. If the media in question is 4K, then scroll down and begin at the 4K section.
  11. To replace the SIM in your phone or as a separate source along with a router to feed devices at home in Korat?
  12. It’s up to you. I have a router at home that powers my TV and PC. I have a separate SIM for my phone. They are independent of each other. If you want to use one SIM for everything, that would be your decision. It would not be convenient for me. If streaming a movie on TV, that would mean that my phone would be on as a Hotspot for hours, draining the battery. You’d have to keep it plugged into the mains. Secondly, you can only add a 4 Mbps for sure or perhaps 10 Mbps pack to your existing SIM. With a new SIM you can go up to unlimited at 30 Mbps or go for top speed but with a limited amount of data per month(70 GB). This is why it’s best to follow advice here. There is no way they would or could explain this all to you and you’d be under pressure to remember it all and to make a decision. Here, you can read and read again and take your time over a nice cup of tea to think about what kind of setup would suit you and then come back again with any other questions before taking the plunge.
  13. To give you some examples… If you want to keep your existing number and do not need high speeds on the phone, but still enough for YouTube etc, you can add a proper unlimited pack(10 Mbps or 4 Mbps) as indicated earlier for 300 or 200 baht per month respectively. I don’t know how that compares to how much you pay now. But adding packages to existing SIM is usually more expensive than the offers available when you activate a new SIM. Though still not terrible for usable speeds. If you want a separate setup for Korat using a new SIM then there are much better plans available. Your choice would be between a monthly package or an annual bundle. Monthly, you are looking at 200 baht for unlimited data at 20 Mbps or 235 baht per month for unlimited 30 Mbps. These speeds are more than enough for general household usage; streaming 1080p video on a big TV for instance. If only for laptop usage, an annual 15 Mbps SIM costing 1700 baht for the year would suffice. 141 baht per month. Which scenario fits your intended usage?
  14. So what would you like to have on your phone and in Korat? Do you want one SIM only in your phone or would you like two separate SIM, existing one in your phone and another for a router?
  15. AIS 20 Mbps 200 baht per 30 days: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/ais-20mbps-ais-super-wifi-i3834334596-s16374244390.html
  16. 10 Mbps for how many devices?? You really should have upgrade the SIM to 30 Mbps when there was the opportunity. It was a mere 235 baht per month, so you would have saved 65 baht per month and gained another 20 Mbps. There are one or two vendors who claim to still have these plans available, though as far as I know, AIS have discontinued them. I’ll post a link for you to try anyway.
  17. Either way, I am not suggesting to avoid Lazada et al. The point being that a lot of people like to buy on the spot. Local store and take it home with them, as in the case of this thread. So best to provide both options and leave people to make their choice. Some options are only available via vendors and others you can apply by yourself.
  18. I too ride a push bike. Great for the lungs.
  19. Who suggested “trekking around the shops”? That was you ???? I think you missed the point. I wrote about buying the SIM locally as opposed to buying online and waiting for a courier. You can find SIMs everywhere for 50 baht or less. You don’t need to talk with a sales person for advice. You can top up your SIM in any way you like(I have no idea why you have mentioned it at all) and then tap in your code. All done within an hour. No need to wait at home for a delivery, especially if you choose COD. You, for one, should know better ☺️ Why you would need to trek around shops to buy a SIM and to top it up is known only unto yourself. The rest of us can just buy a SIM at our nearest stockist in minutes, unless we live off the beaten track.
  20. https://topping.truemoveh.com/ You can add a couple of GBs using that page, then you can get to a Speed test using your browser or method of your choice. Once we know the top speeds you can get, we can best advise what to buy and where. It won’t be more than 1000 baht for the router(if you still want one, as your problem is not with using the Hotspot from your phone, but your choosing of a plan with a limited amount of data. We can fix that) and between 100 and 235 baht per month for ‘non slow down’ data access.
  21. Sorry, but where has Mickymaus suggested that you should browse the options in a mall or IT centre? You should actually pay attention to what is written, rather than putting your own spin on it ???? He suggested that you test the SIMs of every network by running speed tests on each. I cannot see you doing that, so I kept it simple. From your post, it appears that you have one of those ‘old fashioned’ plans that give you a certain amount of data and then slow down to a crawl. I recommend that you change that immediately. You can do so by topping up at least 300 baht and then applying this code via the keypad; *900*9782# followed by pressing the Call key. If that doesn’t work then revert to *900*9779# followed by pressing the call key. The first will get you unlimited data at up to 10 Mbps with no slow down. The second unlimited 4 Mbps with the same conditions. These are the ‘modern’ updated plans. No more annoying slowing down to unusable speeds. But before you do any of that, I recommend that you add a one day full speed pack in order to test the maximum speed that you will get at your location in Korat. Please don’t waste your time going to the malls and IT centres. They cannot know the location and conditions in your dwelling and nearby. They are only there to see you stuff. Mickymaus and perhaps myself and others will know more than any shop will advise. You have to run a speed test to know what is possible. That is what Mickymaus suggested. He suggested all networks, but I surmise that would not be likely in your case. Best to try what you already have. You have two separate issues. One with your current SIM and it’s outdated plan and the other to buy a plan suitable for your home in Korat. Both easily solved if you listen to us.
  22. I understand that you are excited about the whole Lazada/Shopee thing, but not everyone will want to take that route. As you saw, they went for a local option. Local computer shop and possibly local DTAC shop. They can walk into a 7-11, buy a SIM, top it up with 200 baht and tap in the code for unlimited 20 Mbps. Up and running within the hour. No need to sit and wait for couriers.
  23. I have a problem with you posting pics of items that you can no longer buy and are irrelevant to the original query. Unless you can actually but the item in the picture at the price shown, there is absolutely no point in recommending it to someone who is using it in a router. They would need the package without calls, which would be cheaper…. unless you can produce a link that shows otherwise.
  24. True refers to fixed line connections. Truemove H is their mobile service. Which is it? If mobile, then run a speed test on your phone whilst there to see what speed is available to you. Once you report back with the available speed at the intended location, we can better advise which package would be best. You can buy a dedicated Truemove 4G+(Cat.6) router for around 1000 baht. Truemove H SIM supplying unlimited data at up to 15 Mbps for 12 months, costs around 1700 baht(approx 141 baht per month). If your speed test comes out higher than 15 Mbps, you can opt for Unlimited data at up to 30 Mbps for 235 baht per month(265 baht with free calls to all networks, though of course that is not needed when using a router). Speed test first, then we can provide specific links
