Goodbye Alcoholism, Hello Sobriety!
bob smith replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Alcohol has stolen my life from me. It has changed me as a person into an insensitive, morose character. I want to live again. I want to go to the gym 4 times a week, I want to dip my toes in a jacuzzi, I want to eat healthy, I want to wake up early, I want to be a nicer person. all of the above I cannot do when I am under the influence of alcohol. -

Thanks for understanding mate. cbd is by all accounts a lot less harmful than alcohol. I can only give it a whirl. I will probably only take it for a month or so to alleviate the booze cravings that are bound to come along soon.. -

I don’t think cbd will save me but it could help. i would rather that than a benzodiazepine which could result in replacing one addiction with another. I believe I can do it this time round. My perception of alcohol seems to have been drastically altered over the weekend. Knee jerk reaction? Possibly. But it’s something I’ve never felt before. Usually by this time I would already be 3 glasses in. The thought of that is revolting to me right now. So make of that what you will. And thanks for the kind words. -

Thanks for the positivity guys. I am well aware that the road ahead is a long one but I have a pretty solid plan going forward. I really wanna try this CBD out. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. I just hope that it sits right with me. -

yes. absolutely. but as of now the very thought of having a drink makes me ill. -
I have been quite ill these past couple of weeks due to multiple ailments. Alcohol may have played a significant role in the weakening of my immune system recently. I went to my doctor concerning my issues and she prescribed me a potent painkiller. Now I had never heard of this drug before and after doing a bit research online I was skeptical at first. I took 1 tablet that evening after my meal as directed and the effects were almost immediate. All my pain had been alleviated and I was feeling pretty good. I continued on with the course until finished and I no longer have any pain related to the initial condition. Now it seems that, for me at least, there is a peculiar side effect with this specific substance, and that is I can no longer stand the smell (and even the thought) of alcohol. Since I came off the pills at the weekend I haven't touched a drop. I tried to have a glass of whiskey on Sunday night and almost threw up into the glass. The smell was rancid, chemical, and totally unnatural. It looks as though this specific drug has potentially rewired my neural circuits to give me a total aversion to alcohol. Lets see how long it lasts. I am hopeful and to help me on my way I will be heading to one of the many cannabis dispensary's in town to purchase a bottle of CBD to help me on my (no doubt) long and winding road. Here's to sobriety, that booze just ain't worth it!

Just wait until all this uncertainty trickles down into the housing/condo markets! All those posh new high rises that have just been finished in BKK will be empty. Nobody will want to risk brining their money into Thailand if the government can legally chip away at their savings. There is just far too much risk involved.

Thanks my mate. already looking into a thc cbd mix in a bottle. Does thc at 0.02 and cbd at 0.041 sound about right?

Does it have the same calming effect as a couple of beers does? Any recommendations for me? Where/what to buy etc

Another thing. If forced to pay tax on money earned from abroad in Thailand does that mean we can access the healthcare system free of charge? As my hard earned money will be supposedly going directly to fund it. also national parks, will I be getting in free or at subsidized rates with all the other tax paying Thais? so many questions that will need to be answered, and if I don’t like the answers then I will be hopping on a plane with all my riches. Thailand can kiss my behind!

Do you know what mate, it may not be a bad idea. I can live pretty much anywhere and if I am forced to relocate on the back of a technicality then so be it. how I make MY money is nobodies business but my own. If the Thai government wants to stick their grubby little hands into my pocket for whatever reason then I will be out of here faster than you can say noodle soup!!

Right, everyone calm down. this is in the very early stages of development. I remain highly skeptical that any of this will affect us farangs living here long term. Even if it does I’ve got 25mil in the bank and investments ready to be liquidated at a moments notice, and the Thai government can’t touch a single cent. always have a plan b folks, but for now I think this remains in the ‘up in the air’ category, ie, don’t worry too much about it.. yet.
