I have a recurring scenario thats been going on now for about a year. every once in a whille mrs smith will order a package online that gets delivered by a particular motorbike driver. he delivers post/packages etc. when i first laid eyes on him he began with pleasant small talk, then again nice and pleasant when I saw him next. However, around the 3rd time he started with the regular nosey Thai spiel along the lines of: 'where are you come from' 'how long u been in thailand' what you do here, you have thai wife, how much money you make etc etc etc. so around the 4th time i made it clear to him that i was too busy for chit chat and abruptly went back inside. for the last 3/4 visits i have made it patently clear that i am not interested in any kind of friendship/chit chat with him at all. but still he persists this morning. 'you come from where?' how long you stay here? you like thai food? all i want to do is collect my wifes parcel and go about my business. I do not want to chit chat and I hate small talk, especially when they are using probing questions. why does he continue to want to befriend me if i have made it perfectly clear i dont want to? I usually no longer open the door to postmen but today i was so busy i just answered automtaically. do they not get the hint? do i have to tell him to eff off for it to hit home that i dont like him? maybe next time i will let loose on him if he starts chatting me up again.

it really is amazing how fast the BiB spring into action when a foreigner commits a crime in Thailand. When a Thai commits a crime against a foreigner on the other hand....

pollution. ignorance of the general populace. msg in food. traffic. local driving skills. very horrific. deference to elders/those in power. lack of accountability failure of the locals to admit their mistakes greng jai culture lack of decent drainage systems. terrible flooding/need a boat during rain season. high price of farang food. difficulty to find a shirt that actually fits me. noise cocky taxi drivers/hawkers who need a good slap. mercenary hookers that could get blood out a stone and who spoil a good night out. in laws. naff beer. lack of a functioning democratic government. inattentive waitresses/bad service in general 90 day reporting. barbaric visa requirements. they be asking for a pic of me in the buff next! i could go on, but my fingers are starting to hurt. oh wait, hospitals. sick of being forced to have my blood pressure checked for every little thing and being forced onto a drip for a cough/cold. there, that'll do. I feel so much better now! ????

....and it's my observation is its usually people like yourself, probably no wife or kids here? that come out with such ignorant statements.. people care because they want to see thai people progress and get themselves out of this military infused political deadlock. and those with wives and children here care even more. I quit the rat race years ago. I actually took up employment a few months ago to try to stave off boredom. That didnt last long, i told the 'boss' to stick the job up his erss. i have enough money to last me 2 lifetimes now anyway. filling my time is the hard part.

And miss all the fun on the streets?? never in a million years. me and the mrs have got buy 1 get 1 free on orange helmets and face masks. Business is going through the roof down the market for all things orange at the minute!!
