Won't be long before the Thai internet censors start deleting negative posts. Or banning sites that say anything bad about Thailand.

Retiree's don't understand or want to under stand the laws of Thailand. They are ripe for the picking. Always amazed at the retiree's that come here and think they are special and it will work for them. They come to a dictatorship run country, in a country that does not want them (only their money). Then expect things will go in their favor.. Coin the phrase: Stupid Farang.

Thailand will benefit, but only with low and medium end chips. Good jobs for the Thai's. China already has them. Of course all the manafactruing in countries that China is in bed with will help China. No western nation is stupid enough not to know it is just for cheap labor and low end chips. Thai media is run by the government and just like China, everything is rosy and they are the center of the universe. At this point no one cares.

Same speech different day. Again depends on if China can pull their selfs out of their problems. Which is doubtful. But, they better hope China can pull off a miracle. It is too later to woo back the Western countries that actually have a future and money to spend.

I was a serious birder when I lived there. There were more farang bird guides than thais when I was there. No one cared. This will clear out the birding and wildlife tourists that were coming here on high dollar tours.

Exactly, Thai mentality on preventative maintenance is a joke.

With Thailand following China into the abyss. Swampy in 10 years will be a disaster. "Eastern rise Western decline" what a joke that part of the world is. These dictator countries all follow the same game plan. And all die in the same manner.

I lived in that area for over 10 years, it is a miserable place to live now. I was already gearing up to leave because of the pollution when the government made the 800K in a Thai bank mandatory. That was the last straw. No regrets other than leaving a long time partner there.

Hard to believe people want to retire there and die a horrible death.. unreal.

This capital flight is from people desperate to get their money out. Once in Thailand it can be transferred out much easier. This is just capital flight from despirate people. Thailand is close and must be easier to get the cash out and into a Thai bank. Whether it stays there is another question. If it gets to be a big problem the CCP will clap down on it with Thailand. Thailand is in China's pocket. I would be getting my money out of Thailand as fast as possible.

Yea, same here. When I lived there I kept my money growing in the US. I am one of the ones that left after they forced the 800K in the bank. Regardless my money grew by leaps and bounds in the 10+ years I lived in Thailand.

China's stock market is in dire straights. The government is pumping in billions of dollars trying to prop it up. The sell off is of epic proportions. I have read that the Chines stock market could completely shut down eventually with Xi's guidance. If I were a Chinese citizen with a few bucks I would be doing the same thing. The current thinking is anywhere is better than here. Thailand is basically a communist country (military run). Went full in with the Chinese hype. Personally if I were Chinese I would be hesitant to put my money in Thailand because of the close ties with China.

You beat me to it, It's not dollars that are flooding into Thailand for sure. The pic on the article should have shown the Chinese Yuan. The US is having the same thing happening. Capital flight from countries are greasing up the banks and Wall Street. Smart Chinese are bringing it into the US, idiots are bringing it into Thailand.

I'm behind times for sure, But when I was going through there the local Malay's that passed regularly, were waved through with no paperwork what so ever. I used to get in a tuk tuk and go across all the time. Wasn't worth the hassle with immigration. And when the immigration got snippily you could walk down then walk across for a day or two no problems. The gal I was with used to go across all the time. Never once went threw immigration.
