Thai tourism faces strain from sluggish Chinese, Japanese economies
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I am from the US. The economy where I am is booming. Not enough people to do the Jobs. As the political climate is changing , no one I know is going to Thailand for their vacation. It's a dead end destination for us here. Where before I could go to Thailand very reasonable as an expat, and get a year extension. Now everyone is avoiding that part of the world. I am in Colombia. Could not ask for a better place to spend a few months a year. I could care less about politics, I only go where the country welcome me and my dollar goes far. Politics have shifted in Thailand towards the Chinese. Now that their economy is in serious trouble they are crying. They made extreme poor decisions and are paying the price. End of story. Same rip offs here as in Thailand , but as I am writing this I am in a private home with a private river front and a botanical garden I am sitting in with humming birds flying around me. Same price as Thailand but unspoiled beauty that is breathtaking. -

Most people think this is a bar girl thing. IT is not . If I had to guess I would say the bar girl cheating is less than 50%. It is the normal gals you have to watch out for IMO. It is part of the culture . -
China Seeks Enhanced Cooperation With Thailand Across Various Fields
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
According to the Chinese foreign minister, China is ready to work with ASEAN countries to speed up consultations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, strive for the early formation of effective and substantive regional rules, and make the South China Sea a region of peace, friendship and cooperation. He also said regional countries should guard against forces outside the region provoking camp-based confrontation and encouraging a Cold War mentality, which will undermine the hard-won peace and stability. Translation: Thai government heading in the right direction. The South China Sea is ours. CCP rules SE Asia and if you don't do our bidding there won't be peace. Get the US and all it's allies out of SE Asia, unless we can steal the technology to further our cause. All this while China's economy is in the worst shape in recent history, and they are beating the war drums.. Nothing new here what so ever. This has been taking shape for the last 5 years at a blistering pace. As soon as China invades Taiwan and the western expats are in internment camps, for security reasons. Then S.E. Asia will be secure. -
My bet it he will never serve again, and he will be pardoned for medical reasons in the next few months.

Thai baht instability rises due to political unrest
Gknrd replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
A little more unrest and I will be heading back to big T to take advantage of the rate.... wop, wop. Nothing like a little Thai unrest for a great vacation. Bad thing is China's economy will be dragging down the Asian market for years to come. Kinda curious how Thailand is going to fair. -
Foreign investments bolster Thai economy with 58.9 billion baht boost
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Best news there is the US put in the least. Japanese are after the working force. Chinese are after the American market shipping from Thailand. Same thing going on in Mexico right now. Old news -
Just not TOT the whole internet news reporting is a scam (joke) to the nth degree. No accountability what so ever. No fact checking.

Yes Thailand is full of space cadets now. Maybe that is the reason behind the study for a space port.. -

I have a home in Texas, although I am not there I control it remotely. Temps there have been 100+ yesterday 106. Just for grins I set the thermostat during the hot part of the day to 78 degrees and it never got below 80. At 100-102 I have no problems what so ever. It's fringing hot... -
Feasibility Study Expedited for Government Spaceport Project
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Trying to get SpaceX to set up an operation in Thailand. Kinda curious what would be the benefits of Thailand launch and recovery. If that happened the Chinese would have the place surrounded with spy's. Come to think of it I wouldn't doubt if the Chinese would build the place for the Thai's, I doubt SpaceX or others would fall for that. The US government would probably step in and nix that before it got started. With a dictatorship in place in Thailand catering and probably a direct line to China, No one would fall for that. Unless the Chinese wanted to launch from Thailand. Then business as usual. The feasibility study would consist of, Xi what do you think of a space port in Thailand. -
Never saw why anyone would go there in the first place. Lots of lights, and hookers. If you had a couple of weeks in Thailand and women is what you want, then that is not the place to be for sure. Fun to look as a tourist. That is about it. As far as this goes they were probably drunk and touched a hooker..

And to get their motorcycles back or pay the fine, they have to pay a 2000baht fine and two 55 gal. barrels of crude.
