Really! I don't think he would of made it to court "accident or suicide". He was put on an aircraft and told to leave or do you also travel with your life savings. If anyone thinks his crimes are even 10% of the so called military then they are mad! Both Thaksin and his daughter were the peoples choice and nothing can change that in fact they could run again and win. Nothing is worse than taking a country at the end of a gun. Never forget someone was facing charges for ordering the murder of innocent protesters at a temple then the bullying, intimidating of the brave witness (I hope she is ok).

Englishman fights for his life after motorbike crash in Phuket, Thailand

Try looking into his life and the great things he did. I used to think "what a tool" then I read the things he had accomplished as a naturalist. -

BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
When first looked I thought a boat was towing a rope with 85 tourists hanging on. First thought was what could go wrong then read again. A real non story. -

Russian Rider Dies after a Motorbike Crash in Kata, Phuket
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Enough is enough. When will the Thai government learn? Stop allowing tourists or Thais to ride without driving licenses or without helmets and no more than 1 pilion on a motorbike. So easy to start prosecuting the shops that are renting tourists motorbikes that have left their brains at the airport. Stop renting motorbikes. Start prosecuting. We should never hear of a tourist laying in hospital with massive bills as the shop should be adequately insured. Other countries manage this why not Thailand? -
Englishman fights for his life after motorbike crash in Phuket, Thailand

Why? Have you riden in Thailand? The roads can be great or the total opposit and pot holes are common on some roads. The poor guy would be alive if they had left the glass in place just like the poor Steve with the stingray. -
I hope you had a few sherbets before writing that post because it's bizarre dribble. On a whole I have found Thias to be poor parents with little to no regard of danger (some exceptions). There is a distinct difference between how boys and girls are brought up. To even think it is ok for 10 year olds to ride around on motorbikes, kids of all ages 4 or 5 up on motorbikes, basically letting children do as they please is not good parenting it is lazy parenting. This poor boy was 16 and living in Thailand the Thai way (you can't ride a motorbike at 16 in the uk). I would be very concerned for the Young girl who is missing. I hope she is alive but then will have lots of questions to answer. This is a very sad situation. You were to young to die especially in this way.

Young Polish Woman Dies in Motorbike Accident in Chalong, Phuket
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Have you ever riden in Thailand? I hope your being sarcastic with the observation that Thais always check their mirrors and drive in a straight line!?! Every schooldays I used to drive 15 km to drop my children off and every day there would be vehicles pulling out in front of me (minimum x3) vehicles cutting right across in front of me. Then bikes riding at night with no lights and my favorite bag blocking their head light. Oh and let's not forget driving and riding the wrong way on a road. Worst and most dangerous drivers/riders I've come across. -
Beautiful watches. I started collecting vintage watches and antique pocket watches a couple if years ago and get great pleasure from it. I've have 140 year old pocket watches that keep better time than the new pocket watch I first bought. J.W Benson is my favourite manufacturer from pre 1912.

The bad actors in Thailand’s cannabis industry
BritScot replied to george's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
Just can't help it! So very sad. Loving your country and putting it first is what every person should do especially politicians and leaders. There is a word for people who do the opposit and it starts with "T" and ends in "r". -
Not really, when you get older you get more sentimental, I have a Omega Speedmaster from the year i was born and just added a gold Sovereign from the same year to my collection.

Local expat needs help after motorbike incident

Yes good quality gear is essential. A thai friend came to see a group of friend to show his gloves and helmet all high quality and expensive and they were trashed. He was very upset until I pointed out " but you walked away so they all worked". The penny then dropped and he was alot happier. -

Thai Expert Explains High Electricity Bills in Thailand

A lot of profiteering going on around the world using Ukraine as the excuse. I spoke to a butcher recently who has stopped selling Lamb altogether and also pork fillet due to the cost he would have to charge. In weeks he has seen massive rises in his costs. He also said European farmers were holding onto their animals to force the prices up. Here in the uk the official inflation is only 10% and that I say is a lie as I've seen prices jump 50% in the shops and also down sizing going on. My shopping has gone from £70 to an average of £125 a trip. A meal yesterday that would have cost me £70 at our favorite restaurant cost me £110 (we are very much creatires of habit and eat our favourite dishes when we go there so it is very much a comparison). -
I'm very confused as I got a BA flight recently however the aircraft was Qatar it had passengers from 3 other airlines so one aircraft catering for 4 airlines including itself. Surely if all was back to normal that would have been 4 separate aircrafts full of people instead of now just one. And prices aren't coming down as already looked for next year and prices up.... not many families will lay £4k just on flights on the table and that's not even thinking of accommodation, food and spending money. A good family holiday in Thailand will now set you back £10k which is for most people a huge chunk of change.

Local expat needs help after motorbike incident
BritScot replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Yes agree. I've done my 12 months a year riding in Scotland in my youth but these day's the slightest treat of rain is a none ride day. I don't mind getting caught out in the rain. In Thailand I wear full gear with body armer, and would never ever dream of riding without a helmet anywhere in the world. I still love days out in large groups of bikers and have a good group of Thai friends who get together for rides. However Covid screwed everything with guys selling their bikes and moving to different areas. -

Sad you feel like that about riding in Thailand. My wife and I both ride in Thailand even keep my wife's 500cc bike (she refused to sell when we left). Some very beautiful roads but you have to ride conservative and keep a light throttle plus expect every vehicle, dog to shoot out in front of you and of course never ever drink and drive/ride. 19 years riding and driving in Thailand 2 times accidents rear ended at a red light and drunk reversed into me at a temple ( police sent him on his way after admitted the fault and yes he drove).
