Did you listen to the video and understand what the seven rules are that they want to enforce? It seems to me that denying entry to under 20 year olds and closing by the stipulated time, along with no human trafficking's, all seem perfectly reasonable. If tourist don't like those rules, they shouldn't come here. I'd hardly call those things ruining tourism, unless of course the place is to be run like the Wild West with no rules at all.

To those guys who think catching covid is funny, it's less so to the over 70 year olds who have heart problems or similar. In the very recent past here I would have been forced into hospital at high cost, in order to get the meds I got today. Apart from which, it's seriously not a fun illness.

We've been masked and living in the North for years but went to Pattaya and Bangkok last week. We caught covid and are now on antivirals after 6 days. Pattaya was heaving with unmasked tourists, go figure.

Not entirely. The GP system requires residency also, A*E's responsibility is to stabilise life threatening conditions, after which their services are chargeable. I move back and forth between the UK and Thailand from time to time, I have homes in both places but I rent out my UK home when I'm over here. I usually tell DWP that I'm moving and they ask how long I'll be gone, my pension is frozen during this time (I don't want hear word one from others on this point, this is what I do, it's my choice to play by the rules). The last time I moved back here I also arranged for my State Pension to be paid into a Thai bank, when I informed DWP they once again asked, for how long. When they sent me their standard form letter it included a note saying that I would no longer be eligible for free NHS services. If you move back to the UK, regardless of how long you have been away and you say that your return is permanent, your pension uplift and NHS eligibility is free from Day 1, I know this because I did so in 2018 but covid interfered.

When you transfer the funds into Thailand you have to state the purpose. If you say investment to buy gold, you'll have to pay tax when you export those funds, but at least you should be able to make the transfer problem free. How easy it all is, hinges on the reason you use for transferring the money into Thailand in the first place. If you say, living expenses, the money will be deemed to have been spent.

You know what PH, it's probably better if you and I try not to debate economics, I have different expectations of debating behavior and content than the things you have demonstrated thus far. Regrettably, I'm going to put you back on my ignore list for the second time. Byee. -

Because you didn't do searches several times in the past regarding topics we've discussed, the Gilts issue stands out! -

I did a casual search in an attempt to help the conversation along but didn't try to do anything in depth. Given the rather ungracious responses to my efforts, ya'll can go get stuffed and find your own data from here on out. -

WRLife medical insurance - experiences?

I looked at this also some time ago, I also found a filing that shows a cash injection of about 1 mill baht from what appears to be a Thai sponsor/partner/underwriter based in Bangkok. I'm sure I don't understand who underwrites this business, how or where. -
"The problem is, your definition says that a country with a weakening economy will suffer a decline in currency value". Yes, it will, I don't think I've ever seen examples of where it hasn't, unless the currency has been artificially supported. "But the decline is only relative". What do you mean, relative to what? "And as I have repeatedly pointed out, the standard of living of the average UK citizen has grown markedly while the pound has declined". But this is what we would expect, the pound in your pocket and all that. "So there is also the issue of money supply which your definition fails to address" What do you mean? UK money supply has slowly increased for the past 25 years. https://tradingeconomics.com/united-kingdom/money-supply-m2#:~:text=Money Supply M2 in the United Kingdom averaged 1350821.33 GBP,Million in December of 1986.

Not so much in the North where I live.

We just returned home to the North from a short break in Pattaya where virtually every tourist was unmasked and every Thai was masked. Some sad git in a restaurant took us to task for wearing masks, we said we do what the locals do and he laughed as if we were children or stupid. Two days later we all came down with covid, first time in three and a half years.
