  1. I reported a dangerous doberman pinscher several times in England but the authorities weren't interested because it wasn't on their list of dangerous dogs. Never mind that it tried to attack us and the other neighbours and every other dog it encountered whenever it went for a walk. It ain't on the list and that's all that matters. I had a collie cross for years and she was more than willing to attack someone, if I told her to. I suppose the fact that dobermans have been used as security for decades by various people including the Nazis, is irrelevant these days.
  2. link didnt work. I've laid the first few bags but we're possibly going to move the location today.
  3. I've got one too so that's at least two good things which the Chinese have made.
  4. With the luck I've been having, that will probably land on me
  5. Spent about 2 hours waiting in line behind about 15 people yesterday at Nong Khai. God knows what that dude was doing.
  6. And you squandered the rest? (to paraphrase the late, great Georgie Best)
  7. Let's cut to the chase... how much did you find and what did you spend it on? ????
  8. I left a place in a different country. I wanted a monthly contract but they somehow convinced me to to sign a one year contract. Having rented properties and written contracts myself, I knew the translated contract I'd signed would never hold up in a court. I was bored out of my mind living there and didn't want to spend another £1000 on rent just to live in a groundhog day situation. Didn't help my anxiety that the landlord was a cop or that the the only way out of there was through their kitchen. I spoke to a friend of mine (who's a total crook) and he said the contract was <deleted>, not to worry about it and just leave. So I paid the monthly rent and a week later packed up most of my stuff, told them I had to go away for a few days, left enough money to pay the bills, left about $100 worth of stuff, left a load of clothes hanging on chairs to make it look like I was coming back, smiled at his missus and left. I won't be going back to that country any time soon.
  9. My mum was a nurse all her working life and the doctors and nurses used to have some pretty wild parties all through the 70's and 80's. I used to volunteer to be the barman (not that anyone asked) and aged 10,11,12, whatever drink someone asked for, I'd make one for myself, then when I'd had a few, I'd start hitting on the young nurses.
  10. Most of my friends thought it was all fun and games too, til they turned yellow and died.
  11. I gave up smoking years ago when I had about 30 packets of Samson tobacco. I found it quite helpful having the constant reminder of not wanting to smoke 100's of fags. Haven't had a drink for 3 and half years now. Life feels better to me when I stop letting my various addictions control my life. To answer OP's question, every time you think you want a beer/fag/spliff/whatever, go out in the garden, go for a walk or just do something else for a few minutes. Cravings don't last as long as you think.
  12. Well, after reading all the comments here, I decided to take a different route today. On the way, we took what I thought would be a shortcut, to pass through Nong Bua Lamphu but that road is horrendous. If any of you value your vehicle, I don't suggest you take that road. We just came back from Nong Khai and went straight to Khon Kaen, which was pretty smooth sailing apart from a few very rough patches. As far as I remember, the road from CR to the Phrae area was ok. Don't even get me started on the amount of stress the immigration officers put me through in the last few days. Apart from that though, everything else is tickety boo.
  13. I only have a UK driving licence so I wouldn't be driving. Looks like we might be going back the way we cam anyway, through Thailand. Thanks for your hel anyway. Good to know for the future
  14. that seems reasonable. cheaper than most of the meals we've had lately. I can't drive in Laos though because I don't have an IDP.
  15. Maybe it's my dirty mind but are you still talking about food?
  16. Try lightening up a bit. You never know, you might enjoy it.
  17. who you calling a tit?
  18. Is there a charge for these things and where would I get them? We may be having a sudden change of plans tomorrow, (depending how ridiculously difficult the immigration officers want to continue being with me)
  19. When I was young, we lived in a hole in the road and had a handful of cold gravel for breakfast.
  20. Try doing the road from Phitsanulok to Nong Bua Lamphu at 160 and let me know how you get on
  21. I took the bus from CM to CR. All I remember is that I was very glad when we arrived.
  22. It is ridiculously dangerous. If you're going fast and hit a bump which bounces you into the path of an oncoming truck, that'll be the end of you. I was driving about 80kmh but even at that speed, I couldn't avoid some of them
  23. She won't be getting one out of me, that's for sure.
