You messed up the quote. I never said anything about the priest, so why does it look like I said him. I said Harris.

I certainly didn't mean to suggest you made the quote. I just highlighted the Catholic Priest and it came back as is when I clicked quote selection.

Disclaimer, It was a post by @woof999 regarding who should get a parachute out of a selection of nine people of which a catholic priest was one choice!

    It's a complicated issue.

Nothing complicated about it. Men and Boy's dressed as women or girls are not women or girls, they should not be allowed to compete against real women or girls in athletic sports. This trans thing is a mental disorder. People who allow such nonsense are even more twisted in the head. This sickness needs to stop.

He's done pretty well to only spend £100k in 3 years, and probably enjoyed every minute of it.  And now he's getting his pension about £1k/month he can tighten his belt and live for the next 10 years on £2k+/month.  There are many surviving on a lot less.

He is not getting £1K/month pension, He only gets the state pension which is less that £600 per month due to the contributions he made during his working life. Plus he gets another 4000 per annum interest on the 150K about £337 per month, reducing as he sends more money to Thailand. So lets say £950 per month. What if he lives more than 10 years?

I honestly think if Trump is doing this and serious about pulling the rug out from under Taiwan that we will have a full scale disaster on our hands.

If Biden were to win in November (very doubtful) He is looking to go to war with China over Taiwan. Hoping they will react in such a way that the US could then retaliate. So the full scale disaster will happen because of Biden.

Not a life changing Amount for Some People who got It All but for normal hard working people It's life changing giving them a big Breather .

The thing is when most hard working people get such an amount for the first time in their lives, they lose all reason and soon blow it all away. Very few have the sense to hold onto it and maybe try and grow that amount. As I mentioned earlier, I know a Brit who had 250K GBP. after three years he's left with less than 150K GBP. He's about 68 years old, and I wonder just how long that 150K will last before he has no option to return to the UK totally broke!

So, yes it is a life changing amount, But that change can be a negative change which some don't see coming!

Well looks like we BOTH made a mistake he only needs 400k for a marriage extension, and you try getting 47 baht for 1 GBP come to that.

    ,

I'm not sure at 40 years of age he could apply for a 1 year Non O visa based on Marriage? Thought you had to be at least 55 years of age! And the current exchange rate mid market is 46.96 Baht to 1 GBP.

Stupid statement. It is already changing their lives. I wouldn't sniff at 200K

I know a British guy who sold up and came with his Thai wife to retire here, 2 years before he was due to collect his state pension. He had 250K GBP from the sale of his house when he arrived. This was 3 years ago. He now has less than 150K GBP. I wonder just how long that will last before he has no other option than to return to the UK penny less. He had already built a house some years ago.

So OK these people can build their house for 47,000GBP Maybe buy themselves a nice new Pickup or sedan. But Just how long will 9 million baht last.

I guess it's horses for courses! And the type of lifestyle one hope to have.

Construction costs have gone up a lot and even in the rural areas 47,000 Sterling does not get that far, maybe a 2 bedroom house?

Actually, you could build a simple 2/3 bed house for about 750,000 Baht. In rural areas. Well below 47,000 GBP.  Though I'm not sure how simple a 6 bed house you could get for 47,000 GBP which is about 2.2 million baht at current exchange rates.

You are confirming what I wrote. They came to support protesters after the violent crackdown (BTW, McCain was an opposition politician at the time), they did not orchestrate the protest.

The main reason for the Maidan protest is quite simple: they were not attracted by Putin's model of society, they were more attracted by the European model.

You are twisting facts. Listen to this.

There is no difference at all between domestic and livestock, unless you believe all animals are equal but some are more equal than others! It's just an artificial distinction by humans, this is an old nonsense argument- if we were not eating them they would not exist, if they only exist for you to eat better not to exist at all and bypass all that suffering. Sure, livestock has been artificially bred, but no animal has been cross bred more than dogs and no animal has any more right to live without suffering and not being eaten by us than any others.

I have a feeling dog might be on the menu tonight. Of course there is a difference. Dogs were bread as companions for humans, and were used to hunt animals for food. It would be a sad world without dogs and cats.
