  1. exactly. calculate the average length of time each bar on soi 6 has been open. they can't be losing money if they've stayed open 10 years. watch out for replies from people who are shooting down the idea because of envy.

  4. I'm not talking about you specifically, still kicking. but just making a general point. marriage success is always based on numbers ... the longer it lasts it seems the more successful it is. my parents were at each other's throats until their dying day like cats and dogs. many marriages are passionless, dull ... and not to mention the marriage partner holds you back from accomplishing your dreams sometimes ... so again, not taking a jab at you, mr beer bottles. don't take it personally.
  5. We're on the same page so far so good. But what should we replace it with?
  6. People who don't ever venture abroad tend to be narrow-minded. Although no one likes to admit they're a 'failure' in their home country, it can be a blessing in disguise to have problems. It forces you to venture out to places like Thailand and life becomes more of an adventure.
  7. is the whole concept of traditional marriage outdated?
  8. I just did a google search and several govt web sites claim it does help with cancer. And found sth interesting about Thailand. Maybe AseanNow can do an article about this place and interview the founder? The Use of Medical Cannabis on Cancer in Thailand https://ijshr.com/IJSHR_Vol.6_Issue.4_Oct2021/IJSHR036.pdf Wat Chom Thong is a temple known for taking care of patients with cancer, using cannabis as a treatment. With Thailand being a Buddhist country, temples become a shelter, both mental and physical, for the people. Mr. Banthoon Niyamapa or Uncle Tu is the driving force behind the establishment of Wat Chom Thong Dependency Center, which is initiated to help incurably ill individuals who require cannabis treatments. The temple is not a legal hospital but it is a secure haven for everyone, regardless of their gender, age, or religion.
  9. I vaguely recall you mentioning people whispering about you ... I can understand why you would find that annoying, but people gossip everywhere in the world. It's not just Isaan. But in small villages it's worse because people know everything you're doing.
  10. not sure how you do your math. my understanding is that countries lose a lot of money when citizens take their pension checks abroad because the pensioners are not spending any money in the local economy.
  11. stevey, let me give you some advice. first and foremost, you need to learn how to use semi colons if you wish to be happy in life.
  12. don't stop believin', beach lover!
  13. so i don't think we are like ants at all. let's say we have the capacity to build nuclear weapons and who knows if it may even have ramifications in other galaxies.
  14. it's not that simple. aseannow is like crypto. it's erratic. goes up and down.
  15. like the aliens? or AI maybe?
  16. diet becomes a sort of dogma after a while. no one wants to admit their views are wrong.
  17. depends on your budget. go on an african safari. it's a good idea. go for it.
  18. if god is neither good nor bad, then what? god is "neutral"? but doesn't it mean then that humans are all helpless victims of random negative events?
  19. that's why i tend to avoid groups or societies of any kind. i even try to avoid get-togethers with siblings because everyone's always pulling rank and playing politics. I can't imagine how bad those groups are.
  20. good topic. i don't feel safe on aseannow!
  21. I was also indoctrinated and it goes way back. Sometimes people need to break free from traditions. uneducated population ... those who choose to remain uneducated. everyone has a computer in their pocket these days.
  22. i also grew up with a catholic upbringing. people have a responsibility to filter things out. not let yourself get brainwashed.
  23. non local partner = you don't need to conform to local culture
  24. i already gave my theory of evil. free will and karma. i'm not repeating myself again.
  25. yeah but my point is maybe it's better to believe in nothing than to believe in "a god who doesn't care".
